2009 College Football Season

Hit a nerve.

As for ND-USC... if the Irish don't win this year, then they'll never get it done in the Weis era. USC's offense isn't exactly stellar. Their defense is solid though, so I imagine they'll be in Clausen's face all day. My gut tells me it will be the Trojans in a blowout... but I just can't rule out the fact that the Catholic Jesus will definitely be watching this game.

Go SEC! Roll Tide!

The only defense to NOT allow a passing TD this year is USC. Thats our forte. We will be in for a long4 quarters if we can't stop the run or pass. Thats a fact. I also agree that if we don't get it done, it won't get done in the weis era. Because that will seal the fate of the weis era! I just hope if he wins, they don't sign him for another 10 years. I think emotions will be high for this one. ND 24 USC 21 Won in the last 2 minutes of play.

Obviously, I'm not an Irish fan. I do appreciate college football fanaticism though, so here are my thoughts (no hate): If ND pulls this one out, I suspect it will go down as you predicted... in the last 2 minutes of play. However, if I were an Irish fan, I'd really have to weigh the short-lived euphoria of finally beating the Trojans against the fact that a victory will absolutely extend Weis' stay in South Bend. It's tough for a fan... and there's no loyalty in pulling for the other team. But I know what it's like to kid yourself into thinking that one fine Saturday it will all come together for an unproven coach who, year after year, cannot seem to take advantage of a solid recruiting base, and like magic, a national powerhouse will emerge and everything will be glorious. Proof: I lived through the Mike Shula era at Alabama.

Scream "Go Irish!" during the first half... but then if things get ugly, take solace in the very real possibility of Weis going back to the NFL to be a coordinator and ND boosters raising the largest pot of gold in NCAA history to lure Urban Meyer back to Indiana... or at least ponying up half that for Jon Gruden!

I want to win and weis to go. Just too bad I can't have it both ways. There will be only the solace that he will probably be gone if we lose. Irish eyes will be watching.

Pete carroll doesnt lose big games.

No he doesn't, he may have his annual slip up against an inferior PAC Ten team but his record in big games is awesome. I don't think ND has a chance, sorry BH and that's not hate I'm not one of those Irish haters.

but then if things get ugly, take solace in the very real possibility of Weis going back to the NFL to be a coordinator and ND boosters raising the largest pot of gold in NCAA history to lure Urban Meyer back to Indiana...

That kind of makes me nervous. Rumours in Florida are that if Meyer goes anywhere it would be ND. If Meyer wins his 3rd NC at Florida in 4 years and then his "son" Tebow leaving for the NFL, how much higher can a coach go at UF (or anywhere)?? And if Weis gets shouted down after the season, well, like I said, makes me a little nervous.

GO IRISH !!!!

Florida-Arkansas is a lot more intriguing after the Auburn game. Not because the Hogs' offense was firing... but because they finally played some defense. They're gonna need a helluva game to stay close against the Gators though. Can't see Florida's defense giving up too many more points that Bama did.

Go SEC! Roll Tide!

I unfortunately have to agree. I was at the game and Auburn didn't do a thing until the third quarter. They carried something like 28 yards midway into the second quarter. If the Razorback D could find a way to not give up the few big plays a game that has plagued them, then I think we would have a chance. (ie. Auburns two back to back touchdowns in the third qtr). I know Florida's defense is solid, but LSU's offense is also pretty weak. We will find out how good they are Saturday, if you can't get up for playing the #1 team, don't play SEC football. Best of luck all my Gator friends.

To my friend Texas Titan:

LOL you are proving my point for me about the mental processes in the state of Texas. WOOOOO HELL YEA TEXAS PRIDE BABY. MAN WE DON'T TOLERATE NO GAYS, NO LIBERALS, NO ARABS, NO NOTHING WIERD MAN. GOD BLESS TEXAS. IF THEY COME 'ROUND THESE PARTS MAN THEY GONNA MEET A SHOTGUN WOOOOOOOO!
Sound familiar? I think I just summed up every thought you have had in the last year.

Isn't it funny that anytime you talk to anyone who was going to join the military, it's "O man I was going to join I just couldn't, besides the SEALS were the only route I was going to go anyway." No one believes you are SEAL caliber. I am sure now that I insulted your intelligence, you are going to come back and explain how you are actually a brain surgeon.

Assuming I would want to f**k you is giving yourself too much credit. I do think you are just projecting your inner feelings anyway. I have a feeling you have Heath Ledger posters in your room don't you?

I just got my new SI and there is a full center spread story on why the SEC is the dominant conference in all of college football...

Everyone including Meyer himself knows the ND is the ONLY other school he would go to. You can calm down though. I just can't believe he would go so early. I was under the impression he was waiting for his kids to get through school first? Though the boosters do have enough money to pay off Weis's buyout and pay Meyer's salary. He just might do it. But if I was a betting man, I'd bet against him going anywhere next year.:13:

Saw this in an article this morning, also it gives me slight hope for this Saturday (and the Penn St dig made me happy):

Florida has the No. 1 unit, but the offenses it has stopped have an average NCAA rank of 90th*. The Gators have been shutting down sketchy opponents. Still, that's not as sketchy as, say, Penn State, eighth nationally in defense but taking on offenses that rank 105th*.

The good news is I didnt have to prove it to anyone on here and truely dont give a ****, havent yall noticed? Its not e-posturing to feel cool despite what you may think. I had more than a few people, retired SEALs etc, tell me that I had what it took and thats why they helped me with trying to get in. I know that, and whatever your ***got ass has to say about it really doesn't bother me.

I know youd want to **** me.

I dig the "mental processes" but that doesnt really make sense. You could have said mindset or something that you know...wasnt stupid. And little rock, much less arkansas has no room to talk about anything.

As far as my rooms decor, I can tell you there is a davey allison flag, a texas revolutionary war flag, two cowboys jerseys, and a ringside boxing thing. Heath Ledger alright. I think someones projecting.

We aren't all like that in Texas.

Go tailgate with the criminals at U of H or back to Louisiana with all the other Katrina "refugees."

mental process - (psychology) the performance of some composite cognitive activity; an operation that affects mental contents; "the process of thinking"; "the cognitive operation of remembering"

Well I mean I wouldn't expect you to know what mental processes are because as per the definition you have never ever explored "the process of thinking".

On a better note I found Texas Titans facebook page and I present for you all his profile picture.

Don't lie, you had to look up what projecting was after I used it.

You obviously have something prove which is why you explained "I had more than a few people, retired SEALs etc, tell me that I had what it took". Obviously not or you would already be a member of the world's most elite soldiers. A man of your quality has nothing elite about him. Read the book called Lone Survivor by Marcus Latrell. I am giving you alot of credit assuming you know how to read, but if you can manage to find a book-on-tape you should be fine. It is about how he and his men were dropped into Afghanistan behind enemy lines and killed over 80 men in a battle that killed Latrell's entire squad except for himself. Those are the kind of men that are SEALS.

Mental processes may fit but its a very poor choice based on others availible. But take issue with the little things. Its cool.

Oh, and I already read the book and I think theyd know better than some butt pirate from Little Rock, Ar-kansas.

Are you done yet? Go sit on something and chill out? I was waiting for you to tucker yourself out but just stop.
Do I have to trace my lineage back the revolution of 1836 to be a true Texan? Get the **** out of here dude. No one was originally from here if you want to go that route.
I go back that far actually. Go spend time in urban centers and the people there are nothing like real Texans. The people that move here ruined Texas' nature. Case in point, go see Austin in 1990 and now. You can be born here and totally missing the lone star state of mind.

I'm a red raider alum, and there isn't that much to cheer about this year. Back to our middle of the pack status! We did manage to at least give your horns a scare in Austin a few weeks ago. In regards to the rest of you...Florida and Texas look beatable. Look for the Tide to come out on top when all the smoke clears. By the way, forget it Mountain -West whiners, Boise State doesn't have a chance in hell of making the big game. Good luck all

Actually if your ancestors were "real" Texans, they would have spoken Spanish and either been killed or forced across what is today' Mexican border when whitey showed up. So your ancestors were nothing more than original people who moved there and could not actually call Texas their true home because from your own words "they weren't from Texas." So you are just another link in the long chain of "Texas corruption".

Florida - Arkansas

Hey Bike,

Looking forward to Saturday.

Hogs high octane offense will be a good test for the high octane Gator defense.

I really hope we have a good showing. Ryan Mallett is maturing and our D is starting to show up. I'm not expecting a win, but we failed our first test against a good D (Alabama), I want to see improvement. Good luck and I hope we have a good game to watch.

Mallet really impressed me last Saturday. He is going to be good at the next level as well I think with his size and a good arm.

Haha, give up dude, that post right there is beyond reaching. Seriously, that was assenine and you should probably just drop it altogether.

Wow, still "no comment" from the SEC-bashing gangs???
Guess everyone agrees.

BTW it's this week's issue, the one with TIM TEBOW on the cover. Heard he's already 2nd in covers only behind Muhammad Ali !!

Hey oldie, who IYO is the best quarterback in the college game today. Not necessarily on the best team, but just in general with all things considered. (Draft, etc.)

You do realize its all that hype and fame that pisses everyone off right? He wont win another NC.

I love how people can consume themself with hate for a 21yo kid that has done nothing but good for college football. I mean really, if he was on your team...he'd be the greatest player ever.

Go gators. I'm a big fan but just havent felt the urge to post much in this thread :)

It is an exercise in futility, it's a lot like this :frustrate I see no reason to continue the pointless debate. And before an SEC blowhard gets a chance to say it, I'm sure you are right there is no debate. :notworthy:

I will disqualify myself from voting for my own guy (although his QB rating of 170 leads Division 1), but other than TT I liked Bradford before he hurt his shoulder. Very cool under pressure. Bradford, McCoy and Clausen each have a great chance of making a big statement tommorrow.

Tebow has had one the best college football careers ever but the constant media hype is vomit inducing and his rara, chest thumping, in your face screaming nonsense has turned off multitudes of people. This isn't more Florida hate from me either just look at the net, do a Tebow search and you run into 2 things, Florida fan love for the guy and total disdain from everybody else. I will grant you that if he were the qb of my team and had that resume I would probably have 3 or 4 Tebow Jerseys and be naming my kids after him. As it stands though he is a polarizing figure and I along with millions of others can't stand the site of him.

We sure better beat Purdue they are awful.

Tony Pike from Cincinnati deserves to be in the discussion of top college qbs as well as the others you mentioned.

It sucks TP got hurt again. Def was a great chance for him to showcase himself in front of the nation and REALLY put his name out there.

Strong logic here.

Kind of like the millions of people that can't stand the sight of anything OSU? I'm sure watching the Gators stomp them in 2006 induced plenty of vomit among the OSU faithful; cheers from everyone else.

Here's another Tebow pic for you as well to add to your "disdain" list. - ;):

Hey oldie, who IYO is the best quarterback in the college game today. Not necessarily on the best team, but just in general with all things considered. (Draft, etc.)

In terms of the "Prototypical" NFL QB, I'd have to say Sam Bradford would get the nod in my book. There are quite a few that are pretty good though (Clausen has good potential). I really like Todd Reesing (Kansas). The kid has a hell of an arm.

I am anxious to see USC or ND lose this weekend. As much as I hate USC I think they will win. Not a fan of Weis or where he came from.

The thing about Reesing is he is short. Drew Brees is def an exception proving it is possible though.

5'11" is on the smaller end for a QB, but I don't know about "short", haha. You're right about Brees, though. Just in some of the video I've watched on Reesing he has a great delivery, and accuracy with the long ball.

I just thought about the fact that I called someone else short :twak: lol

But also it is a matter of how true the 5'11" height is because didn't Chase Daniels become shorter magically?

Ya if a quarterback is going to be on the shorter end of the spectrum he def has to have a great delivery and release. I just know it will turn some teams off of him. I mean look at Tampa Bay's Josh Freeman. Not knocking him but we all know if he was under 6' he wouldn't have been drafted #17.

I couldn't agree more. Except for the fact I want nd to finally get that signature win. I think weis season doesn't hang on this game, but what Jimmy does. NFL or stay another year. Either way, I think he needs to go (weis). Remember kids, you can't spell scum without USC.

Im gonna be away for a while today, and only get to see half a game at best. (Don't know if that is good or bad yet.) Good luck and God bless to the teams playing today.

I know this will change after today, but this is the ratings that I have found for it thus far...Invalid Link Removed.
Clausen leads with a 179.

It defies logic it's more of a visceral response kind of like how a certain foul odor stimulates the gag reflex.
You are a Gators fan so I get why you like the guy, but He's the kind of guy that you can only like if he's on your team otherwise it's :puke: on site.

Regardless of the outcome of this Texas-OU debacle, the Longhorns are hands-down the most over-rated team in the top 25. McCoy isn't the same QB as last season. Even with OU's best player on the bench, Texas was losing the time-of-possession battle and had less than 50 yards total offense at halftime.

McCoy for Heisman... are you kidding me???

I don't care if Alabama and Florida both lose two games the rest of the way... Texas couldn't beat either of them under any set of conditions. If the Sooner defense is shutting them down, then they'd really be overwhelmed against the Gators or Tide.

If there's an argument for Boise State... and I didn't think there was... the Longhorns are it.
