Machines that send a small electric current to your muscles.

I have no idea what these machines are called. I remember watching a Bruce Lee documentary about a month ago and the people on there were saying how he used this machine, where he placed pads on his muscles and the machine would send a low dose of electricity to his muscles. They said in the documentary that a similar machine is now used on people that have been in accidents, because it helps they're muscles heal, or something to that affect. My question is, what is this machine or device called and can you buy something like this to help with muscle recovery time?
 
E-stim may be OK as a recovery method, but that's about it for normal healthy people. If you could find one really cheap it might be OK, but it's just not important enough to spend alot of money on in my opinion. Proper program planning, diet, rest, etc... will have a much, much larger effect on your recovery than e-stim.

Yeah I wasn't planning on relying on an e-stim for recovery, I was simply thinking about using it to speed up recovery as well as just being curious about it.
 
It was in Dragon-The Bruce Lee Story ( good movie BTW )

In the movie he said it was like doing x amount of push-ups.

I almost bet after a work-out it would be useful.

I dunno.
 
I have a tens machine, been using it for 4 yrs or so. I would not have made it this far without it. Works wonders for my ankles and for my shoulder problems....it's great for rehab purposes but you also need proper nutrition and proper rehab/prehab exercises.
 
I use one every day. Look at my current log. I should have videos up shortly too. My comp crapped but I can tell you it works and it works well for size and strength.

keeping one of these around, and ticking off yout wife, could result in a very unique wake up one morning when she slaps those electrodes on your boys and hits full charge.

What brand do you use and how much did it cost? I have little knowledge about these devises and what brands are good and how many pads I should get. Also can't you adjust the frequency?
 
They are ems units (electro muscle stimulation). Some units like the Tens will have a frequency that hits the nerves more so than the muscles.

I also use a Tens unit, powered by a 9v battery and it packs a punch for sure. I got mine for free from an ex
gf's uncle as he had a few of them the hospital gave him for his back. He gave me a brand new unit in its case and my gf at the time (his niece) was pissed that she didnt get it. I had to hide it in my truck as soon as he gave it to me so she wouldn't take it.
