Irish Cannon Gets on AXIS...with AXIS (Hemodraulix + Kitchen Sink)

This is what I don't understand...Why is DC looked at as the only routine that you can use for the rest of your life? Why would you not change things up. I don't get it.

Because Im in love

LOL, I'm not saying my philosphy is correct. If I had all the answers, I wouldnt be 6'0 170, lol. I'm always open to learning.

But yea, to your question. (I think I may have read where Dante asks this too) I guesss my answer would be that my personal outlook on DC is a "mass routine." BUT, I am just now starting, so this may change soon.

I guess if I did do DC on a cut, I would expect strength gains, just not on the same level as when bulking.

Exactly, you have to be realistic in your goals when in a caloric deficit.

You can do whatever you like..lol

You can do any routine forever. Dc is not the only one. The thing is, "are you making gains/progress"?

It is looked at in a way that, if it aint broke don't fix it. If you are continually making progress, day after day, year after year, then why change?

If i wasn't 10lbs heavier(and leaner), then i was a year ago, and all my lifts weren't significantly up, then i may think it was time to re-evaluate.

Dont knock it before you try it playeh

Dont knock it before you try it playeh

You're making solid progress because you're finally varying your routine, and lightening up on your usually aggregious volume.

I understand everyone on this board is developing a man-boner for DC... I still don't care to try it.

okay..not sure why are being negative..but thats your call man.

The tone is negative..come on bro. Let's just drop it tho. Im not one to get into things with people on here...anymore.

At the end of the day DC isn't for everyone, nor is any program. Do what you enjoy and what you feel will help you reach your goals.

By no means am I saying its not a good program.

I'm glad a lot of people are getting great results... I just feel like every day someone is pushing it like Scientology.

I hear ya. It seems to be a bit of a "flavor of the month" right now.

I personally never push anyone into it, as i realize it isn't for everyone. I feel if someone is interested in it, they would have done the legwork, and figured out if it is right for them.

If someone asks something about it, i will do my best to answer, though.

You don't have to tell me that man... I've seen you help out a bunch of people with their questions / programs.

I hear what you're saying, but I haven't felt that it's been too aggressively pushed. Until you've visited the DC forums at BB.com, where someone may genuinely want to fight you for not being down with Tha DC, this has all been fairly chill.

I think DC is good & fine, but truly, what builds muscle are more about principles, and much less about techqniques. The principle behind DC is simply high intensity. The principle behind traditional bodybuilding is high volume. It always boils down to which principle you're tweeking; intensity or volume, and the two have an inverse relationship, so it's usually an either or situation. Rest-pause isn't new and single working sets are not new. Mike Menzer had been pushing single working sets back in the 70's, written 4-5 books on it, did thousands of guest speaking on it and was chastized by the bodybuilding community as a whole for the most part, because everyone thought he was crazy (just as Dante was not initially well received). Stretching isn't new either. I'm not touting my own horn or anything, but I'd done myself and trained others in those long stretches post lift before I ever knew what DC was (it was an acupuncturist who first suggested it to me).

I think DC is great now. I used to argue vehemently against it, but over time I've come to see exceptions in my own (past) arguments (which I came to on my own volition), so I'm not against DC at all. I'm just not as impressed by it because it's a modified reinvention of the wheel, where its principles have a well documented history in bodybuilding.

I myself switch from high intensity to high volume throughout the year and I personally enjoy high intensity much more.

What I did find particularly helpful about the single working set approach, is the psych up benefits. I found having amazing sets were more consistent with the single set approach, because when you can psych yourself up for one extraordinarly montrous effort, all that huffing & puffing, blanking out the environment, sometimes getting geuninely angry from the psych up, allows you to truly focus all your thoughts & concerns in a single condensed effort. Whereas, I rarely have 3 or 4 sets in a row where I am switched on like a raging bull.

However, not everyone gets in that raging bull mentality and without at least some drool coming off your lip before your set, DC may not prove as beneficial.

Oh fore sure, I think you suggest it, which is all to the good, we all suggest what we feel will be the most beneficial to others, but I've never felt you were pushy. Most definitely nothing like the DC Jedis at dat der BB.com :drillsergeant:

I'm telling you guys, some of those DC threads at BB.com.... it's like entering a Neo Nazi site, where the superior race are DC practitioners. Its really out of hand. We can at least agree to disagree here, over there, an anti DC post will get you a burning cross on your lawn.

Its been forgotten..I really dont care if people want to do DC or not..I suggest it. I may or may not have pushed it. Im not sure. I have been so excited about it, its hard to really tell. If anyone has felt I am pushing DC on them, I apologize and will tone it down.

I still think Timber is teh coolest

Even if you were pushing, when something is new & exciting, it just eminates, so I'd understand. I remember when I first found out about Mike Mentzer's HIT and applied it's completely non-traditional principles to my routine and was successful, I was like a street evangelist pushing HIT at my gym, friends & strangers a like. I mean, I was RREEEAAALLY into HIT. When you try something so different then what you've been doing for years and you're having a successful experience, it's all you can do to not want to share it, ya know.

Good peoples have a tendency to want to share good news, especially if they feel it's beneficial news.

Nothing worth apologizing over - I don't think you are pushing anything. I was just joking that it was "weird" when you said "I am in love..." being that it is a program and doesn't have boobies / vagina. Wasn't hating on DC or anything.

The whole don't knock it till you try it is irrelevant. I'm not knocking, and I'm not going to try it.

Well said friend

I am still in love with the program despite the fact I cant stick my **** in it :dunno:

I used to love HIT, don't judge me.... :paranoid:

Not true sir. When you join club DC, you get a free blow up doll, with some fat titays, and life like vag.

yeah, i still don't understand how the whole DC concept. I read the explanations on BB.com. I'd be willing to give it a shot once i finished slimming down if someone would help me write a program. I'm glad it is working for some of you doods. But not all workout programs, diets, and exercises are right for everyone.

Ya not much going on today or tomorrow. I'm off training all weekend. Can't wait for Monday's workout. I'll be hitting the gym with a buddy, then doing some school stuff, and then it's out on the town for a cheat meal and some live music.

Pretty sore today. It feels good. Throat is a little scratchy so I'm loading up on Airborne and VitC right now. Going to hit the sack as early as possible tonight. I've got to be at work at 11am tomorrow.

Diet Update

Meal 3 + 4 - Dropped rice from 3/4c to 1/2c in each meal

Meal 2 (Training Days): 2 scoops whey, 2 slices Ezekiel w/honey, mixed berries, 1g HGW, 5g Creatine Mono

Meal 2 (Rest Days): 2 scoops whey, 9g fish oil, 1g HGW, 5g Creatine mono

End of Week 1 Cut

Sitting here in the kitchen cooking breakfast and reflecting on the week. My diet has given me some quick changes I wasn't expecting; my abdominal area has a leaner look to it, not as though I've lost fat but the shape is more defined, as well as my legs seem to be dicing up a little and my delts are coming out more.

I'm excited about Week 2. I'm trying to reevaluate everything in terms of diet. I don't know if I really need to cut much else from it. Perhaps drop carbs from meal 4 and give myself a bigger anabolic window for hormonal changes. I may be getting a hold of IGF-2, so that will be a good time to utilize it.

I'm so tired from work, and I really need to catch up on sleep, but I won't be able to sleep in until Wednesday, and even then I can't sleep in TOO long as I have to lift before class starts. - This busy schedule is really starting to catch up to me. I can't wait until Fall when things calm down a tad. These summer courses are just so packed with stuff to do in such small bursts, and I work full time on top of it, all while trying to do this bodybuilding business.

just figured i would stop in and post so it wouldn't be you four times in a row. That pastor out in Gulf Breeze can speak for days!!! It was all good though i just wish that i had at least taken a nap or something before i went up there!

okay! ya! take a nap next time! k thanks! :p

Just got back from work about 45 mins ago; out a little early tonight, so I finally have some time to clean my place up. I've got my last meal in about an hour, then I'll hit up my BC+EAA about an hour after that. Normally I'd wait 2.5hrs, but I want to hit the sack early tonight. I'm exhausted.

This low carb thing sucks. I forgot how much I hate it...I'm always freaking hungry.

It does suck, but I usually have a general sense of well being from knowing I'm beating down some adipose. My crimes against triglycerides are definitely hate driven, it comes from my grandfather, he comes from a different time

I feel ya on the time constraints bro. My work comes first with me and takes up the majority of my time, so throw in a gf and the whole "bodybuilding" thing and it gets really busy. So thank the good Lord I have college behind me.

Diet changes look good. I love IGF-2, and I think I saw where you tried it before too. I think it gave me a good "pep" in my step.

Question-I ran out of a few things this weekend and it was so last minute I had to go to Vitamin Shoppe to re fill. But I got some Dymatize 12 hr and will be taking this post w/o with my WMS. Do you think the 12 hr will be ok post w/o? I also use ATW Whey but I keep that at my office.

It would be fine PWO, but I still believe Whey is much better for that purpose.

How do you like this now adam stuff?

Adam is good stuff. I felt great on it. It also has a little ALA in it too :food:

I dig. It's my staple multi-vitamin.

Are you carb cycling? How many carbs are you taking in per day - 2.5-3.5xBW?

I don't know exactly. I'd say 150-250g/day depending on if it's a training day or not. Obviously the lesser not being a lifting day.

I never know what or if a MV is doing anything, but I take them anyways. ha.
