Need to cycle BCAA?

I've been mega-dosing Xtend (8 scoops on lifting days) for several months now. Scivation doesn't say you have to cycle it and I've never heard someone suggest cycling BCAA. But then I came across this at NP "Invalid Link Removed"

So it seems like it might be a good idea to cycle off of Xtend for a while. How long of a break should I take?

And while I'm on the subject, anyone tried NP's bulk BCAA powder? How's it taste & mix?
 
I have never tried Nutraplanet's BCAA's so I can't comment on them. Traditionally BCAAs do not mix very well.

However, to answer your other question there is no need to cycle BCAA's.
 
Keep in mind that NP's BCAAs are more BCAAs per gram/serving than Xtend. Xtend has glutamine, where as NP's BCAAs are less the glutamine.

I flavor mine with Walmart brand Crystal Light.
 
I take BCAA's whenever i have the extra couple of bucks while ordering my supps. Never feel the need to cycle them. Extend is my BCAA supp of choice as well but I'm usually around 6 scoops on a workout day.

BCAA's + Gatorade intra workout is perfect.
 
BCAA's to me are a food product. So you wouldn't cycle food right?

If you have the bucks drink as much as you want of Xtend a day.

Depending upon my goals, yes, I will cycle food.

Other than pre or inta workout there is really no need to use them when a solid food protein diet will suffice.

So you'll go without food for days then? Isn't that what the definition of cycling means in the supplement world? On and off?
 
No. As BCAA's are a part of the intake of supplements that I cycle, I will cycle a part of my intake of food.

For example - resistance training days may be higher in carbohydrates, where as non-resistance days may be higher in fats and protein all the while keeping calories static.

EDIT: I am not saying that I cycle on and off. I take them year round cyclically in regard to training needs.
 
Thanks for the replies guys. I never thought you needed to cycle BCAA. Not sure why NP says that you shouldn't take it for more than 12 weeks.

I think I read somewhere that you can get gallstones from excessive BCAA consumption but I have no idea how valid that is. From what I'm reading in this thread it sounds like it's a non-issue.
 
I can zap that phrase out of existence to ease your mind :) (Well try to; it might be there for legal reasons)

Yeah, if you don't I'm liable to come across that product info again in six months and start a new thread asking if you need to cycle BCAA. lol

oh yeah. its ace!!

I've been pounding the bulk bcaa's since i got citrus dew :D
