David Henry is another protege of Dante's that comes to mind. 5'5" and 225 with competition bodyfat is pretty freaking impressive. "Giant Slayer" is the term that comes to mind.

I have my 17yr old doing it and he loves it. He's 5'10" at about 194lbs and yesterday he squatted 315x10 and followed with a widow of 225x20. He's crippled today to say the least!! I lve it as well but, with my age I have to be carefull of over training with it.

Holy sh*t dude. Your son is a monster!!!

Sports?

He has a tryout for a Junior hockey team in June....fingers crossed!!

That's about 10 mins south of me...near Arizona State University. Sounds like he has a little strength going on!

Speaking of which, where the heck were you when I was playing our show in Tempe AZ?

He's a flippin genius too.

yep. when you look at the rest pause rep ranges and realize
8-12 is mass
4-6 is strength
1-3 is explosiveness
and you end up doing a 8/4/2 rest pause, you see the brilliance. additionally, progressive overload is highly overlooked - most of us try for one more rep or upping the weights once per month, not weekly. i'm not sure if dante pioneered the static stretches, but they're great for building a massive pump. all around, a great program.

I was hoping you wouldn't bust me up on that G. My son had his State playdowns in Hockey then. Sorry big man!

If this kid would eat right he would be huge. We are shooting for 210 by next season. Oh yeah, did I tell you he can dunk a Bball. Serious hops on him!

has he considered playing football? can he run fast? 17 y/o at 210lbs and with hops? sounds like a dream tight end to me!!!!!!!!!!!!

He ran an Olympic qualifying 30. He plays football on skates!!

Hockey is pretty bad-ass, and is just as rough as football. Unfortunately the NHL is not what it used to be popularity wise. I played a lot of hockey in my youth. Any sport that starts that many brawls is awesome. I would never play without a facemask though... never really figured out why the pros are so stubborn... the vision isn't that restricted.

very impressive

I think hockey is the hardest sport to play well. Firstly, you have to learn a whole new mode of transportation. The things they can do on that thin blade of steel is amazing. Next they give you a stick to push a puck around. Last but not least, someone is trying to take your head off while accomplishing all that. It has my respect!
And G, my son says the vision without a cage is awesome. As long as I am paying the medical and dental though....the cage stays.

Once that cage comes off at some point in time you will never want to put it back on. Huge difference in vision, its pretty crazy. When your cage is on you think it wouldnt make much difference without it, but I was shocked when I first took mine off.

Do you other DC guys aim to up 1 rep each time? it varies for me between exercise, the hammer press I add 10lbs each time and try to go for the same about of reps, incline bench though is a bit harder so I aim for 3, I dont know why it varies per exercise but in general how much do you aim to go up each time?

Every league I have played in has required a cage. I finally got a cage with a clear eye cover, like the ones some of the pro's wear, but it had a cage on the lower half... I really liked that. I dunno, I guess my dad being a dentist and all always made me think not using a cage was a bad idea. That much less weight on the front of your face must be nice, as well as the lack of chin acne from sweating into the chin-cup. Still, my grill is intact...

He took a deflected slap shot in his cage last week...big dent in the cage! He has some thing to ponder about I guess. Those pucks can F you up big time.

that's what put my dad in a wheelchair for 11 years. a puck hit him right below the navel and disconnected the tendons and ligaments running to his lower body.

i'm so glad there's only one more day left of this cruise. can't wait to hit up the weights with some semblance of authority.

additional unrelated info : the probation office has decided today that my G/F should stay on the opiates to treat her pain, in spite of addiction issues, and that the only times she's broken the law was on opiates. a truly pathetic answer IMO for someone 120 days clean and in recovery.

that's the news of the day.

That's a "Damned if you do....Damned if you don't" scenario right there. With you helping her she will be fine.

That is absurd man. Strong opiates make people do crazy things for more opiates. They are extremely expensive, tolerance builds incredibly fast, and the time it takes to get clean is really long. Sounds like quite a racket the pharmaceutical companies have going. It's why I stick with reefer.

yep, and the probation office said "medical marijuana" doesn't meet the terms of probation in california, so she needs the same meds that she got in trouble with (she's allergic to morphine, and we've done corticosteroid shots). sad.

for me, i think it will be hard to say a 2nd or 3rd time offender "consistently made the wrong choices" when probation departments no longer care about their constituents making good decisions.

My mom deals with rich fools and celebs hooked on that pain killer crap all the time. Intese detox - and learning of different ways to deal with pain.

Such a shame.. What f*ckaceutical company came up with the idea of treating pain with f*cking heroin... And the FDA wants to f*cking ban P5P. Eat my assh*le... Seriously...

its an epidemic the way opiates are thrown at people. my old workout partner was on half a percocet 2x per day. they offered him oxycontin, and based on my g/f's experiences he told them to find a place to stick that prescription. its scary how its handed out like its "no big deal".

update : the lady in charge of adult recovery (county sponsored, and forced upon through the court - just like probation) said if my G/F gets on opiates, she's kicked out of the recovery program since she can't recover while taking the same meds that she's addicted to. classic.
