Great job papa deuce ;).

Cheers!

I actually didnt string it myself sadly. I don't have the cash flow to get a stringer or I would....it would save me money in the long run.

I brought them to a place called Fromuth in Reading, PA yesterday to get them strung, and then I bought the ink and did the babolat logo on the strings myself this morning. In essence...I didnt do anything special, haha

All that talent in one man!

Ok enough of the chit chat, did you train!!!!!:wave2:

hahaah C you're funny :wave2:

Just a quick update for today. Was on the courts for 2.5 hours hitting doubles. I played well, my partner did not, we lost a lot, haha. Did some bodyweight stuff but nothing huge. Ate terribly. back on track tomorrow. Struggling with diet = stupid chuck. Fixing it...I swear.

LOL Well I can't talk on diet today. I trained went out for a steak and sweet potato and then took the kids to Coldstone for ice cream...now I did have the sinless cake batter low fat stuff! But I mixed cookie dough and brownie in..lol

Ahh whats life if you can't live it every now and then!

Well in the end you can get the goals you want to achieve done, it may take a week or two longer but in the end whats a week or two.

Sadly my kids are taking a hit from my lifestyle. They see Nat telling me I'm holding fat or that she is and the reality is that in the real world neither of us are fat. So my oldest daughter is now thinking she is fat, telling me look I can pinch it here. Its a fine line we walk between the two worlds.

I have explained that the fat is only in an extreme sports sort of competiton stage world on me. Well she always sees me say no I can't eat that. So now every now and then I'll eat the stuff to prove that life won't end. Just throw in some extra cardio I guess.

Im dealing with that exact same scenerio in a lesser degree. My girlfriends daughter who will be 3 this summer is saying lately that she's "too big". part of it im sure has to do with the fact that with the twin pregnancy, my girlfriend isn't allowed to lift her...which im guessing would make her think she's too big. However, I do talk often about how I need to shed a few lbs or how eating "blah blah" will make me bigger. Its a double edged sword that whole fitness thing.

I agree though. I choose to eat what I want and I battle it with extra intensity. Just so happens that i've over indulged this past week or so and now it's time to cut the sh1t.

Day 41

Summary
I spent a great deal of today in the hospital because we had to go for testing for the twins. What was a routine doctor appointment became a bunch of non stress testing and checking for contractions and dialation. We were there from 8am until right after 3pm. This messed up my nutrition for the day because I ate nothing during that time and then overate later on naturally.

Kicked the a$$ of some kettlebells. I have been doing some research and talking to some people and even though im not ready now....I want to compete in the future on a national level. To compete in my kg weight class I need to power clean (jerk) a double set of 24kg kettlebells 78 times in 10 minutes....and then, about 3 hours later, I need to be able to snatch a 24kg kettlebell 75 times with each arm in 10 minutes. That is just to gain clearance to compete on that level, haha. Then I have to get much better than those numbers to try and WIN.

Today I began practicing for those goals. Instead of doing lower sets of reps with the 24kg, I went down in weight and went for the numbers that I am going to need for competition. I hit all the marks and have put the times next to them. However....this is the most dead my arms have been in a LONG time. Shows my KB endurance is not nearly what I need it to be at all.

The Session
10kg Kettlebell Swing
2 sets x 12 reps
Double 10kg Kettlebell power clean/jerk
1 set x 78 reps in 6 minutes
Single 10kg Kettlebell Snatch
1 set x 75 reps - right arm in 5.5 minutes
1 set x 75 reps - left arm in 7.5 minutes
Unilateral Leg Work
Rx 1 - 60 seconds *ea. leg*
Rx 2 - 60 seconds *ea. leg*
Rx 3 - 60 seconds *ea. leg*

Nutrition
damn hospital.

What Tomorrow Holds
Depends on the weather really. I want to get on the courts and hit...but the forecast reads rain, so we'll see!

He's so PICky
This is the first exercise, the double KB power clean...as performed by my mentor, John Davies.

This is the second exercise, the single KB snatch....as performed by whoever the heck that guy is.

How are the babies and GF ? I hate those NST I had to have them done while I was pregnant with my oldest. She has sensory issues and problems with loud noises, I blame the stress tests for that.

My arms hurt just reading your workout from yesterday.

oh man thats not good at all. She is starting to feel worse because now that she knows exactly what she's looking for, she said she's feeling contractions all the time.

My arms hurt just reading your workout from yesterday.

Yeah it was intense bro....I will post yesterday now but it wasn't a "workout" per se....but another good day.

Day 42

Summary
Sorry for the late update. Yesterday was a very solid day. I hit tennis twice and both times were good for me. Got a really solid workout in both times and hit some good tennis each time.

AM Tennis - hit with my buddy Chris who is one of the fastest people i've ever known. Its fun to play with him because he tracks down EVERYTHING and he is getting better at tennis each day. We didn't play a match but just hit some volley/rally. Was on court 2.5 hours

PM Tennis - hit a singles match with another local guy who happened to be the only other guy at the courts at the time. we volley/rallyed for a while and then settled in. He was hitting much better than me early on, but I hit a groove and ended up taking it. Was on court about 2 hours.

The Session
Total Tennis time
4.5 hours on court
Unilateral Leg Work
Rx 1 - 60 seconds *ea. leg*
Rx 2 - 60 seconds *ea. leg*
Rx 3 - 60 seconds *ea. leg*

Nutrition
ate fairly well...did not do damage to myself.

This is a crematory box. Saturday is the day I go to Brooklyn to spread my Father's ashes. There will be no workout, and I might get a little drunk later in the night.

none needed.

Day 43

Summary

The last time he'll wear that hat. I have taken that hat into my posession though and wear it often for him. He's ready for the big day.

The Verrazano bridge. This is one of the first time's I ever crossed it without my father talking to me. Little did I know that about 20 minutes worth of traffic was waiting for me.

Finally across to the other side!

First stop, his old Knights of Columbus chapter. I did a little circuit of Sheepshead Bay before going into Coney Island.

Second Stop, Roll N Roaster. This place has some of the best tasting food in the country...my father introduced me to it at a young age and we went often.

I went with a Roll N Roast Beef (rare) with onions, cheese fries (which were rated by Zagat as "Cheese Fries so good, they should be illegal"), and a homemade lemonade.

Welcome to Coney Island. This is one of the most famous Roller Coaster's in the world...The Cyclone.

This is the little league field my brother played on. My father went to almost every game. He coached football about 20 yards up the block.

This was my Father's chain. I wanted it real badly when he passed but my brother got up the nerve to ask me before I asked him...so I let him have it.

Now that we've spread everywhere that was necessary...it's time to walk out to the pier for his last wishes.

You are a good son!!

The Boardwalk looks like somewhere I would like to take my kids?

Coney Island during the day is a really nice place to go. The amusement park, beach, boardwalk, and Aquarium all within like a half mile of each other. I spent a lot of my youth there!

When it turns to night...it gets a little rougher though, haha. Tough crowd of drunks and thugs when it gets late. Daytime is all clear though!

Hmmm I wonder how far it is from me. Summer is coming up soon.

well it takes me about an hour and a half to get there, and you'd more than likely travel directly past my town to get there. It takes me about 4.5 - 5 hours to get to Pittsburgh....so you can figure it out that way I guess, haha

:jaw:

You must have your car floored the entire way ! haha

I think I remember it taking us about 6 hours to get to Pittsburgh last summer for a family vacation to visit some family in Michigan (that took a good 10+ hours :Eyecrazy: )

Day 44

Summary
Happy Mother's day to anyone that applies to. Aka - Happy Mother's Day Christine.

I had an awful day on a personal level but I tried not to let it effect my training since I do have a goal here...and I do want to move towards it. Not only am I now training for the birth of my children and for my health, I am training to compete nationally in Kettlebells. With that said....here is the day. I think fatigue kicked in again for the right arm of snatches...6 mins for only 10kg is wayyyyyy too long. I guess it's a process on the way to getting ready to compete....but I don't want it taking that long. :28:

The Session
10kg Kettlebell Swings
12 reps x 2 sets
10kg Kettlebell Jerk
78 reps x 1 set = 5 minutes
10kg Kettlebell Snatch
75 reps x 1 set = 4.5 minutes - left arm
75 reps x 1 set = 6 minutes - right arm
Resistance Band Work
8 sets x 8 reps @ medium resistance
Unilateral Leg Work
Rx 1 - 60 seconds *ea. leg*
Rx 2 - 60 seconds *ea. leg*
Rx 3 - 60 seconds *ea. leg*

Nutrition
I took in the right number of everything...but not at the times I had wanted. I ate too little early in the day, and had a fairly large dinner.

What Tomorrow Holds
Maybe hitting some tennis balls, maybe a workout for strength, who knows.

He's so PICky
This film is on for motivation during the workout. Jet is such a small guy yet he is on top of the martial arts world for years. Even though i'm a fatty at the moment...I am very undersized compared to the people I will be competing against in the KB challenges like Ivan Denisov. Its nice to know the little guy comes out on top sometimes.

I can accurately say that this is a serious fear of mine for competition. When you're tired and pushing reps from the depths of your insides just to try and win...anything is possible

Sorry to hear about the bad personal day bud. That sucks. Shrug it off...tomorrow will be better. Just have to keep a positive mind. Good things come in due time and good things happen to good people. ;).

Also, something maybe you could think about doing to help prepare yourself for your competition...if your gym has this machine...use it and you'll definitely help improve your performance greatly.

[IMG'http://us.commercial.lifefitness.com/resources/category/1/1/5/9/images/thumb-HS-Jammer.jpg[/IMG].

This is the machine I used in particular for pass rush drills in football. I played MLB for the most part, but was used as a weak side crash blizter a lot because of my speed and size, generally we would shift linebackers to the weak side and shift the d-line to the strong side which gave me a one on one with tackle. Using the jammer really gave me that edge for explosive power moves.

Just trying to help out if possible Papa Deuce!.

I'll be here to help support you and cheer you onto victory bud.

Cheers!

Those were some great pictures you took, Deuce. Thanks for sharing those with us, man. You're a great son!

Sorry the KB lifting didn't go as you planned, but as you said, you were fatigued. We all have days like that...Just come back bigger and stronger next time!

Thanks Sean...I really appreciate it. I actually don't go to a gym though, haha. I do all my workouts from my livingroom, outside my house, friend's houses, parks, wherever :). I really enjoy that aspect because everyday brings a challenge ya know? what will I do today...how will I lift...will I just do cardio...alone or with a partner, etc. Always a variable!

I appreciate all the support though :)

Thanks IC :). Funny thing is, I actually DID hit the goal time by a few mintues even....but i'm aiming for the best possible time flat out. The competition will be with 24kg KB's and before I can compete I have to submit a video to prove I can meet the requirements. The times I am trying to hit are the times I will need to make when using the 24kg KB. I was using a 10kg KB and made in about 6 minutes. I will have to go up 14kg and do it in 10 mintues flat.

Its going to be a long road....thats a lot of weight to move that much in that amount of time, so I know my training will be extensive!

When I go through Palmerton to get to Saylorsburg it takes about 25to 30 min as well. I went to ESU the one night to visit/party and on the way back the next morning I went the wrong way on 81 and almost ended up in Bloomsburg

A competition, I can't wait to watch you win!!

Its going to be tough...the KB competitors are no joke, but i'm amped to give it a shot :). I watched the vid of who won this year at the Arnold and it was a powerlifter. He had awful form. I probably would have beat him.

Day 46

Summary
Today was a very good day indeed. Found out the twin's are in good health to start out the day so that was awesome. Then went and played at a park with the girlfriend's daughter and got some baby shower shopping done. Then when my girlfriend and her daughter napped, I kicked it into KB mode!! I am figuring out my training splits right now for the challenge of getting ready for competition...so today I upped the weight from 10kg bells to 16kg bells and I shot timing for the jerk portion after some swings and I landed all 78 reps in just over 7 minutes!! This is solid...but I still need to see if I can land it with a 24kg bell. it will be infinitely harder...but I will push forward and make gains with this. Before this log, I couldn't rep the 16kg's 78 times on jerk PERIOD. Now i'm under 10 minutes :). Closed out the workout with some bent rows and some rx work.

The Session
16kg Kettlebell Swings
12 reps x 2 sets
16kg Double Kettlebell Jerk
78 reps x 1 set = 7 minutes
16kg Double Kettlebell Bent-Over Row
6 reps x 4 sets
Unilateral Leg Work
Rx 1 - 60 seconds *ea. leg*
Rx 2 - 60 seconds *ea. leg*
Rx 3 - 60 seconds *ea. leg*

Nutrition
Everything went well today. I just closed out the day's nutrition with 3 eggs scrambled with a slight bit of olive oil.

What Tomorrow Holds
USTA team practice tomorrow night.

He's so PICky
This is the KB split jerk performed by my mentor, John Davies. I will start incorporating them soon for added leg strength for when I am wearing down in competition.

hey Chuck! just checking in to see what the good word is.

I think I've been doing a better job of keeping up with you outside of AM lately..but I wanted to make sure that I checked into your log when I got the chance.

looks like things have been going for you...but, damn you for the pics of those cheese fries!!!!

Day 47

Summary
Let me tell you something....my legs are going to be really really sore tomorrow. NO...I didnt do a leg workout. I had USTA practice tonight so I knew i'd hit a few hours...but I ended up having some extra free time earlier on (not free time I wanted :() so I hit some more. By the time I was done today...I was on court 6 hours!! It was ridiculous.

I hit 2 hours with my buddy Anthony. He isn't phenomenal, but he hits a lot of "junk". Slice, drop shots, deep lobs, etc. Its a nice change of pace and keeps me on my toes. We didn't play any sets but if we did, I would have won. I was hitting well today.

I then went to practice and hit doubles for 3 hours. I was teamed with my partner for the year and we were facing another double's tandem from our team in practice. They definitely took us out real fierce. We lost 1-6,0-6,3-6,6-4. Only winning one set out of 4 is not good...and I don't feel we are a good team together, but I never question my captain. Our first match together is this Sunday, so maybe i'll be wrong and we'll kick some butt.

I then hit for an hour with one of the singles players on the team. He has fantastic shots and shot selection. He would have won if we played a set, but we just volleyed and rallyed for an hour. I kept up with him today, and most days i'm not far off. I'd like to hit some sets with him in the future....but this kid is real good!

The Session
Hit with Anthony
2 hours
USTA Doubles
3 hours
Hit with Mike
1 hour
Unilateral Leg Work
Rx 1 - 60 seconds *ea. leg*
Rx 2 - 60 seconds *ea. leg*
Rx 3 - 60 seconds *ea. leg*

Nutrition
Other than a 6 inch sub on italian bread....i'm in the clear. I figured with 6 hours worth of tennis, I was allowed some white bread today!

What Tomorrow Holds
If I can walk...back to the KB's ;)

He's so PICky
The sick part is, he actually has some really good groundstrokes!

I have 100% full intentions of bringing home a W this weekend for sure! Its going to be a busy one though...with the shower saturday and getting ready the next few days. Im glad I got to hit so much yesterday because I doubt i'll get anymore court time at all.
