I like to think we got the closest body-type to being female. We have no advantages except being athletic if we choose to play the soccer/basketball type sports. We're good track stars. But it gets old bein skinny fast, especially growing up getting bullied by mesos and endos. That has lasting effects no matter who you are, probably the reason I have such a passion for bodybuilding today. But IMO it's easier for an ecto to bulk on 6000 cals for 6 months...drop 5-7 lbs of fat like it's nothing...15 minutes on a treadmill a day for a week, TOPS and you've lost all the fat you may have gained. I know metabolisms vary, but I'm an extreme ecto and I decided to eat until i actually got fat and I decided to stop when I was disgusted with myself and now I'm back at 10% or so (abs poking through) This next cycle should get me to 20 lbs total including glycogen, water, and fat, and I'll hold 15 of it guaranteed .
Anyway back to being an ecto-hardgainer...get your ass in the gym liftin hard, heavy, and short,(5-3-1 on compound movements with 2 6-10 rep sets after the single) and eat 5 cans of white chicken chunk in water, and 5 double scoop whey shakes per day plus whatever you're fed from your parents, g/f, or from your own culinary hands, and finally sleep 10 hours a night.
