Never won a game in 4 years. why is this team even allowed in the competition.

I loved it when the asians and Leb kids had to come to my school to play rugby league and the score would be 50 - 0 by half time...

The thing most of you may not realise is that in the US, running up the score like this is not acceptable. Even in professional sport like the NFL it is not considered 'right' to run up the score once you are in a position where you can't lose. It sounds strange but even in sport where there is a lot of showboating like NBA and NFL, trying to embarrasss the other team is frowned upon by media and fans

:madfawk:

B!tch, when you f**king work hard for something and you follow the rules agreed upon, and you do EXCEPTIONALLY well, ain't nothing wrong with being proud, f**k this mutherf**king sissified f**king approach people have, only in America

You don't kill retards like that b!tch, you make the world a better place! :haha:

i didnt think that made much sense. I thought it was funny that the losing couch didnt get sacked but the winning coach did.

This is America, if it makes sense it will be banned, regulated, immoral, illegalized or looked down upon.

Sense and reason are not good things here :nono: They are the work of the devil

You cant blame the school for trying to maintain a sense of chivalry and honor. Something that is hard to find today. I do think it was retarded the coach was fired for doing his job too good o.O

But you have to think about how crappy the other team goes home feeling. You are supposed to leave your opponent with his integrity intact.(though in this case her)

Its poor sportsmanship really.

hey the other school should have played better and not sucked. everybody in america wants to win, but if u win by too much, u are looked down upon. i remember in high school we beat a team in football 75-0..and we put the JV team in against their starters at half time. and then in basketball we beat a team 134-34..but we purposely beat them up that bad cuz we hated them...

Sports teach you how to win and lose. You can’t expect a team to stop playing because your up by to many points they came to play not waste there time purposely missing because another team is that bad. Im sure the team took out all the starters and let the bench play and the other team couldn’t score one basket come on I could put a blindfold on and still make one. Maybe the other team should just practice more and not play anymore games this year or find another team that bad to play if that’s possible. I don’t want to sound like a **** but you could have an 8th grade team play the varsity and get lucky and make one. To lose your job over some ones feelings being hurt because they aren’t good at something is retarded. On the other hand the coach who put his team in a game that he had to know wasn’t ready to play…his job should be up for evaluation

I don’t believe the score showed poor sportsmanship as long as no rules where broken or smack talking was done the team did exactly what they came to do play a sport. It doesn’t matter if someone wins by 1 or 100 one team is going to go home happy and the other disappointed its life deal with it

Considering the other team hadn't one a game in 4 years, im sure it wasn't teh first time they'd lost by a huge margin. Had they scord at least 2 points im sure it would have been a different situation. How did they not even get a foul shot in the whole game is beyond me. They should be taken out of the competition. Only 20 students and 8 are in the BBall team....haha sounds like the BBall team is also the baseball and football team.

If the Dallas Academy has not won a game in four years, then basket ball must not be a priority. It is utterly ridiculous to have fired the Covenant School's coach, especially the same day after the game.

If both teams were supposed to play with "a Christlike and honourable approach to competition" then there would always be a tie. I agree with jamesb2525, sports teach you how to bind as a team, overcome challenges to win against the opposing team, and lose when nothing works. All lessons learned apply to every day life.

If the other team has not won in four years they need a new coach or a new team, that is where the problem is. If the purpose of these tournaments is to increase rapport between schools then perhaps they should turn them into practice sessions... Dallas Academy sure needs some help.

I'm glad the Covenant School's coach is standing firm on his ground. I would never apologize for building a team that plays and wins according to the rules. If there was an issue with this match then they should have ended it long before.

I think what sucks about this is that it was a decision based on emotions. There should be a comparison of how much each school practices and overall individual and team improvement. If Dallas Academy rarely practices then they should have never played and really deserve to lose. But if the practice and improvement for both schools is about the same, then Dallas Academy gave it their best but it was simply not enough.

I'll get off now.

If the backups were put in, then it is totally acceptable for them to play hard. If you don't want to lose 100-0, then stop the other team. On the other hand, if you keep your star players in and run up the score, that is bush league and you can expect your star player to get hit with a cheap shot, probably injured.

Pah.. the coach should never have been fired. Competition is just that, competition, it's not a time to try half-ass so that the other team goes home with a little dignity. If they didn't go home with dignity, the obviously didn't earn it.
