BIGGER, FASTER, STRONGER: Snag's Recipe for a [NATURAL] Recomp, Competition Style!

You guys & your editing.. this wasn't there before was it?

Looks good man! (better than DG's pic :stick: hahaa bro, j/p..)

Looks like I started something with the condiment art..

Oooh it's on now haha

Regarding Texas' question with Leucine...I do personally add 5-10g Leucine to post-workout shakes. It can trigger the anabolic switch extremely efficiently, and as long as you have an adequate intake of protein I would never worry about the infamous "amino acid imbalance." However, the other 2 EAA's do have some significant benefits as well that should be noted.

Overall, I agree with Snag that extra Leucine can help, but your best bet will be to have significant amounts of all 3, and of course high protein intake throughout the day [I shoot for 350-400g].

You guys have me interested in buying some BCAA tabs to have between meals throughout the day...might help my bulking.

..and then there is Snag's Kitchen, at it's finest..

Don't agree here bro, especially if you're protein intake is that high.. just think you are wasting your money in bulk mode.

Cutting mode now.. different story. Absolutely beneficial between meals while in caloric deficit and carbs are low.

DG - if you want something to aid in growth while in bulking caloric surplus, go with a full-spectrum amino -- I like Beverly's Mass Aminos, best in category imo..

That's exactly what I have ALWAYS said. ffAA's are a WASTE when bulking cause you should be getting all the protein you need from your shakes/meals.

Maybe I'll buy a few bottles of EVOO and add em to every shake

On a cut I totally agree because preventing catabolism is always high on the priority list, and as you said low carbs/cals.

Haven't we had this conversation before bro?? hmm..reminds me of another thread.. :D

On the BCAA issue again.. I've been experimenting a bit, and I think a higher leucine ratio is probably best served prior to the workout, a more proportional (i.e. 2:1:1) ratio sufficient for post.. but I agree with ya - as long as there is some component of all three you're in good shape.

My current preference:
PRE: higher leucine (4:1:1 BCAA ratio)
INTRA: 2:1:1
POST: 2:1:1 with complete EAA profile

I don't think your placement of leucine at the end of training is wrong; I just EAA spectrum should be the focus for postworkout..

I really rate the Nitro-E8 highly for post w/o, this product is in a class of it's own.

This is getting finite I realize, but I enjoy anality..

Update pic of the legs, before I hit the sack.
Been a long day. Time to recharge for some Hurricane-esque fasted training demolition that's fixing to take place tomorrow morning!

Still haven't gotten around to shaving these dudes yet.. will do tomorrow. That'll make the next round of leg pics look even better - without all the carpet on them! :D
Really feel some changes starting getting ready to come on!

Nice separation Snag! I think you, IC and Rodja have some of the best legs I've seen (no homo), I believe I recall Mullet having a good set of Good Years as well.

Oh, we just has an earthquake!

Well if you forgot....I work for Athletic Edge Nutrition lol;).....SteelEdge has 5g Leucine and I have IntrAbolic , so obviously I'm covered. The post-workout is what I usually have to work on lol

Thanks Vol, definitely appreciated! Seperation will come fast as I lean out obviously, but I really won't be too tickled until I see some cross-striations going on -- and that is not an easily attainable thing for me. But I'm shooting for an all-time best in conditioning here! I'm just happy these guys have come back form the scrapheap they were on not all that very long ago. Pleased with the recent progress. Happy as Hades that the SuperCissus has eliminated all the knee pain (but climbing the stairs to my office here this morning after legs yesterday was fun, hammies are tender!).

EDIT: an earthquake?

You hairy fukcer!
Hey Snag, what sort of training do you do for your lateral Gastrocnemius?

:toofunny: Yes.. it sucks.

Man, that's a big word to look at this morning.. I have very basic equipment to work with dude, so I really don't get too specialized here. The majority of my calf workouts consist of just standing BB calf raises, with angled toes (straight/in/out).
Now, within this I'll also vary rep speed & pauses, but that's the bulk of what I do, very simple. I've always had decent calf development I think because of all the other sports I play (tennis & basketball especially).
Some other calf work I do tho are donkey raises with the wife on my back (she holds weight), seated calf raises, and single leg DB standing raises. That's it.

Gotchya. I'm a fan of your large protein intake btw; I myself prefer 2x bodyweight or more in protein intake generally..

Honestly, there are only about 2 logs I will bother to catch up on... This will be one... Good stuff.

But it will probably be done from work tomorrow.

Hey you....hope im included...:duel:

Day #15 Arms/Back/Abs

Arms (first)
EZ-Bar Curls: 5x12-15

Pulley Curls (standing): 5x10

Lying Extension: 3x12-15

DB Kickbacks: 3x15

Back
Pull-ups: 4 x as many reps possible, BW

Rack Pulls: 4 x as many reps possible, BW

Abs: 200 reps total
(utilized two exercises here, alternating between frog-style sit-ups and hanging leg raises)

Notes: This was workout was Snag Force Fury, fueled by some serious anger..

Okay, here's the story: since I had it in my mind that I was going to follow Mullet's <12hr. carb-depleted> portion of the fasted-training protocol, decided that I might as well cut the Plasmavol out starting today; despite the speed with which this stuff is absorbed, it still (as pointed out) disrupts the FA oxidization process; besides, like I said, this supp was in my next round of cuts anyway..
So with that in mind, I thought wth, let's roll with this new MyoShock and check it out..

Upon rising:
7 MyoShock
3 PowerFULL
2 SuperCissus
1 AP
3 Prime
4 NO2 Black

Big, BIG huge mistake.. :frustrate: I knew I shouldn't have messed with this MyoShock right now. The mad scientist in me loves to experiment tho.. :sigh: Should've known better..
This stuff was stupid crackhead energy. There are some stim-junkies running around here that might like this product; I'm a pretty experienced stim user myself, with a pretty high tolerance for most things, but this was ridiculous: kamikaze, disconnected, unfocused energy which started kicking in within 15 minutes or so.. I was squirming to get started training so I could release this. Let me state emphatically that I do not enjoy this type of feeling -- I still have a freaking pounding headache going on in the back of my skull, annoying as hell.
That'll teach me to mess around, especially when I'm in a groove & everything is gelling.. should've stuck with a winner (READ: Jacked)..
Anyway, not to say this wasn't a productive workout; it was. I was SERIOUSLY pissed off at myself, kicking my mental ass.. :nutkick: ..punishing myself for being an idiot. So, Prime-fueled aggression took on new meaning with this effort.

(P.S. I will be giving these Myo samples to my brother, let him deal with this stuff.)

The rest of the changes for the day:
10 minutes prior to workout:
5 Nitro-E8
6 caps GNC Leucine Activator (3.1g leucine)

Intra:
3 scoops Ultimate Nutrition BCAA (18g BCAA's)
(this was finished by halfway point)

Immediately post:
10 Nitro-E8
3 scoops Anabolic Switch

15 minutes post:
1 Pslin

30 minutes post:
meal (70g carbs/45g protein)

BCAA consumption total for pre/intra/post was at 45g. I'm implementing dietary changes today (rather than Sunday as planned), continuing the fast-track process..
Cals will be at 2500 now, all from food (Plasmavol/Anabolic Switch eliminated); carbs will drop to 150g daily.

Carbs: 150g
Protein: 350g
Fats: 55g
24/56/20 macro split

That 400 mg. of Caff kicked that ass, didn't it??!!
That's an ass-load of caff. Even for me or Irish!! I've cut way back on the stims for this fasted training. And it's better this way. I may keep the stims low from here on out. It's time to cycle off of 'em here soon enough anyway. Maybe 2 clean months.

YES it did. I even skipped my morning cup of java this morning, and didn't use the Recreate to offset that large caffeine dose. Uggggh..

Some pics after the workout, kids bathroom again (it's up here where my home office is at, so I don't gotta tread down them stairs to a different mirror, easy on the legs haha..
I hate taking pics of myself, they look silly. Digging the progress tho.
I'll quit killing you guys with update pics for awhile..

Looking great! The diet is doing its thing and you are getting that dry look.

Thanks Christine! Yeah, definitely digging the dietary aspect currently, I think it's dialed in pretty well for now.
Long way to go for some dryness tho! ;)

Abs are really starting to show through now snag!! Especially in that side-triceps pose. Looking real lean now.
And that snowflake is making me feel nostalgic. I miss Christmas already.

It might be the tan! You are gaining some serious color.

Haha, I think that's more the camera. I'm really not that orangish looking, but I have been tanning. Going today, as soon as I bust out the lawnmower on these legs.. oughtta get nice & lit up today! :shoot:

Yes definitely more defined in the midsection already... when you don't have much to lose, small changes really show up.

(no homo) I love the way your pecs look like they are glued onto your sternum....damn that looks so cool!! And the obliques are chiseling in nicely as well. Your discipline is paying off for all to see Snag.:clap2:

Thanks Mid! Damn, you are always so positive! :box:

You too DW, appreciate all you guys' feedback. You guys are my inspiration here!

That's when I go high protein is when I cut, just to keep the cals up and the carbs down really.

Speaking of high protein..

Meal #2 today: (fronted by AP of course)
2 whole eggs
3 whites
4oz turkey breast
1 peice Ezekiel
1 piece Ezekiel CR
33g carbs
56g protein
10g fat
450cals (roughly 30/50/20 split)

I usually keep that cinnamon raisin bread for breakfast or postworkout, but it sounded good today, and this was meal #2 for day anyway..
I've had about 2/3 of my alotted carbs for the day, rest will be fibrous/ff cottage cheese.

We definitely need some shots when you get the cross striation down

Sprouted grain, natty PB, and sugar free blueberry jam :) Ezekiel is too pricey up here in Canada/hard to find. $2.80/ 500g loaf just for this stuff.

There we go, just found my street hustle. I'll slang bricks of Ezekiel in the health ghettos of Canadia

"I got that Cinnamon Raisin"

Meal #3.. I know, not very creative, but I'm on a turkey breast run right now (had 2lbs unthawed I had to eat anyway). Meals are a bit larger today because they will be split over 5 feedings instead of customary 6 - this happens sometimes when I run fasted training formats.. I still distribute everything pretty evenly. Decided to throw a piece of Ezekiel in there because of this.. I love that steam coming off the broccoli!
