In the past, we been brain washed into using High glycemic carbohydrates to spike insulin. I feel into this dogmatic train of thought because it was the common place approach preached in every magazine. Skinny, fat, or dilusional, the theory of insulin spiking was gospel.
Even with a degree is clinical nutrition(which does not prepare you for performance nutrition), I feel victim to the notion that without spiking insulin you are sacrificing a key component for muscle growth and recovery.
There where 2 signicant reasons why my approach has changed and evolved. Around 3 years ago, I joined AnabolicMinds to advertise our first product cAMPHIBOLIC, and the board was run by a crazy clown named Bodo that changed my philosphy on Post workout nutrition.
I gave this opioniated clown some cash for a program and followed his protocol. I was a big advocate of nutrition from the start. I was never one to push supplements before nutrition. I understood if the end users understood nutrition. He would really love my products. Once you understand how nutrition works for you individually, you can easily decipher which supplements work.
I will take this time to Thank Bobo whoes probably playing golf somewhere...I mean trying to play golf.
The huge difference from Bobo's protocol was that fat loss became much easier without injesting sugary carbohydrates Post workout...This was a big changing point in my physique. Remember Insulin is a storage hormone and when it's present fat loss is impossible(later I will try to convince most people that want to get lean not to eat every 3 hours but that is for another time).
The second huge leap in understanding insulin and dieting was when I developed(not just I but also a great mind that rather stay behind the scenes) Anabolic Pump. Again my disclaimer, You need to learn nutrition and how your body reacts to food to modify the programs to fit your body. I will outline my routine that can be used a guide but you must come up with your blue print.
Morning Meal( currently is my preworkout meal in the stair protocol)
-Take 1 AP
wait 15 minutes and eat 20 grams of carbohydrates from raw oats, 30 grams whey protein mix of isolate, casien, and concentrate(human development technologies..name is escaping me at the moment).
-1 grape fruit
-Mutli vitamin
-3grams fishoil
-2 Prime
-Why use anabolic Pump with such a low dose of Carbohydrates? I want to become carbohydrate efficient and such a low amount of carboydrates, the pancrease probably only has to spit or drizzle some insulin out. The insulin response probably close to non existant with AP and 20-30grams of carbohydrates.
This is a teaser meal to boost metabolism and get ready for the Stair shake and proceeding workout.
The MassMOnster Shake II
The base of the shake is;
-800mgs bulk Plsin
-60grams SuperCarb by Avant labs(carb content can also change and agian start low and go high but remember our goal is to Make the pancrease shot out Insulin during this time)
-60grams of Dextrose, Maltodextrin, or Waxy maize starch
-20 grams of Whey Hydroslates(but you can use isolates and remember you can adjust ratios to your liking...always best to start low than go high).
-10 grams caisen(I just use 1.5 scoop of my HDT protein which has casien and isolate and jsut add one scoop of hydroslate)
-5grams creatine monohydrate or creatine of choice
instead of a huge peak in insulin by just using simple carbohydrates and fast digesting protein that leads to a subsequent fall in insulin. We are getting a Steady-state anabolic insulin response(**** that does not even spell stair..lol) by using a combonation of fast and slow releasing proteins and carbohydrates. We are getting a constant flow of Amino Acids and glucose to the muscle cells.
The reason we do not take P-Slin 15 minutes before the shake is because we WANT the pancrease to secret insulin big time and the synergy of P-Slin, Insulin and the INTENSE workout creates a super anabolic enviroment.
Now, if you are going to pilates class and do not want to Train like a MACHINE. Please just ignore and erease everything you just read because this protocol allows you to train like an animal and recovery at an unheard of rate(especially if your supplement cycle is top notch).

soo how long after the MMS do you eat a meal?

It is definitely interesting; I would be wary of ingesting 1g of 50% EGCG, that is a massive dose of anti-oxidants. Strag can elaborate/correct me, but I believe that much anti-ox's can actually promote oxidation. I personally dose 900mg/day, spread out evenly in 300mg doses w/ Grape Seed Extract.

I understand 500mg is the standard dose; I do a bit less since I also use 50mg of Grapeseed Extract per dose, and also take Vit C throughout the day. Also will you be elaborating on the staying young part, in Part 2?Actually in literature 500mgs of EGCG is the preferred anti oxidant dose.

I guess 1g really isn't that much, but I generally try and avoid anti-oxidants too much around my workouts after reading Dinoii's posts on Vit C timing.It depends on the oxygen species which is/are the target of attenuation, and, more importantly, which species of animal is in question. I have seen EGCG promote carcinogenesis via free-radical production in colorectal cell lines of diseased state rats, but have no effect on similar human cell lines.

If it's making you fat, your other meals have to be modified. Post your daily meal plan..
how would this MMS help someone on a keto diet to stay in ketosis? and how can you incorperate it in to the program? does it act LIKE insulin mimicing its activites, or does it let insulin work BETTER so less is used ?
aren't u supposed to stay just above ketosis? i don't think it's healthy to stay in that state all the time

Been running varients of the MMS and also dosing DURING meals.... these meals are BIG. Ive been using 675-800mg pslin with each meal or shake.... sometimes my carb intake hits 150-200g(from straight brown sugar, maltos, oats in even amounts) and pro isolate is around 40-50(Invalid Link Removed, tastey). Ive also had all the others in the mix, BCAA's, Leucine, 3-6g creatine, 2-6g BA ect ect....
I must say that dosing DURING meals has almost got to be TOO strong as I will finish my workout and the rest of the shake or a HUGE meal and take it in a cap mid meal and seriously STILL go hypo....
Think I need to back down the Pslin dose? Will I still get the effects desired with say 200-400mg pslin? Cause theres no practical way for me to RAISE the cal intake higher then I have already done.... Like I said this protocol is almost TOO strong for me....... oh ya and I am on cycle been holding the same weight of 200 for about 2 weeks now and dropping fat by the day.

I generally agree with Mullet and USPLabs. I would aim at 2 x 500mg EGCG daily, especially, if also used as part of a fat-loss regime. In this manner, Green Tea will not only produce anti-oxidant effects, but will also preferentially use fats, not carbohydrates, for energy expenditure, leading to elevated resting metabolic rate, while sparing proteins. As is well-known, this is possible via the inhibition of the enzyme catechol- O-methyltransferase (COMT) that usually breaks down norepinephrine, the body's mot powerful endogenous thermogenic hormone.
If I recall correctly, to ensure EGCG is not eliminated before entering blood circulation, between 380mg and 500mg EGCG need to be consumed at once. At lower levels (<380mg EGCG), only small amounts reach the blood. At higher levels (>380mg EGCG), circulating levels in the blood are dramatically higher. This is much like carnosine. The carnosine barrier is 1000mg taken in one dose. Below this, carnosine is rapidly metabolized into non-functional compounds in the body. At 1000mg carnosine in one dose, however, carnosine synthesis (carnosine -> beta-alanine/l-histidine -> carnosine) is initiated and blood levels rise significantly. Back to EGCG. Taking 500mg EGCG at once produces exponentially greater benefits than taking 2 x 250mg. So, I would aim for 2 x 500mg daily.

Thanks for that update Strag. I ran out of capped Green Tea anyways, but I was dosing I believe 300mg/cap, a bit under your old recommendations (Invalid Link Removed ) But 500mg is easily done. What are your thoughts on taking 1000mg at once though?....

I like the sequence of these exchanges and a big thank you to T_I and RA for obviously keeping up to date on both my recommendation and rationale.
I do tend to recommend a mere 500mg (despite the fact that higher tally pills do, in effect, exist). As RA points out, this is keeping in mind the fact that there is an "optimal" level of intake that falls in line with this recommendation. That said, the notion of ingesting 1gram or even more per dose is essentially proposterous due to the additional potential of it acting as a PRO-oxidant (rather than anti-oxidant).
We also keep in mind that at least a minimum of two times per day, I also recommend running beta-carotene (plus other carotenoids to keep stable the carotenoid balance) + Vitamin E + Selenium. The absorption of the said nutrients that comprise the ACES acronym you will hear me frequently reference actually imparts additional bioavailability as well as positive actions and while it may sound like a small point...try running them all together (NO, NOT as part of a multi-vitamin and YES a minimum of twice per day) and see how much better you feel.

Females are a very different "animal!"
And I mean that in the most respectable way of course.
A lot of things we don't talk about on bodybuilding message boards too often (i.e. - pregnancy, nursing, pre- / post- menopausal, etc...) come into play, but I can make some generalizations.
First and foremost, we will define appropriately for those unfamiliar with the nomenclature what it is that I speak of when I talk ACES.
Vitamin A
Vitamin C
Vitamin E
Selenium
With the vitamin A...I do NOT recommend supplementation with it directly at all, but with its essential counter dimer, beta-carotene. Beta-carotene is basically 2 Vitamin A (retinol) molecules put together. Vtiamin A deficiency is rather rare in the US as it being one of the fat-soluble set actually finds significant stores in areas of the body like the liver. Many sources will try and sell you on the presumed fact that you can get adequate amounts through the diet and this is very untrue (recall my comparison of various vitamin tallies from things like fruit and a vegetarian may be in the worst-case scenario). Certain drugs can deplete Vitamin A (take the antibiotic neomycin) while others can increase it (take the anti-acne medication Retin-A). Yet still, it is important to proper egg functioning if the female would like to get pregnant et al.
With the Vitamin C...it is MUCH MORE CHALLENGING TO OVERDOSE on provided you follow some general rules as toxicity is not defined appropriately with this vitamin. This is a water-soluble vitamin. Vitamin C was recently suggested by an "expert" panel to be increased in the RDA which the followers of Linus Pauling have known for a very long time. Vitamin C really can be advantageous if used in an Orthomolecular pattern for most people. What that means is a VERY JUDICIOUS DOSING and likely with just about roughly EVERY meal. Woman can take heed in knowing that iron is co-absorbed with Vitamin C and in times of menstruation, it should be co-supplemented with iron to make ammends for the menstrual flow...certainly this will vary at times outside of menstruation (but easy supplementation may include additional iron around the menstrual period) and of course this whole scenario changes when taking all of this into consideration. Of course, when you come up to do the intern position officially, I will show you how to assess all of these kind of cases and they all have VERY explicit scenarios. Recall how I mentioned toxicity before? What I am getting at is the two-edged sword ability of Vitamin C to also act the role of PRO-Oxidant if used in inappropriate tallies, so as a safeguard for this as well, I recommend no more than 500mg per dose spread over the day as many times a woman can remember to take it and then specialty things like iron come into play after that.
Vitamin E has unfortunately taken the biggest hit recently in some very suspect literature. This really comes down to trouble and will be a VERY LONG discussion, what I recommend is 400 IU (and no more than 800 IU) of mixed tocopherols/tocotrienols.
Selenium is a mineral that bears a toxicity VERY close to its avoidance of deficiency. 100-150 mcg supplemental usually covers males and females.
I am very liberal in B Complex dosing...it being another water-soluble set. The two things woman will have to watch is the potential for peripheral neuropathies with B6 and hepatotoxicity with niacin. Everything else is merely an annoyance rather than an imminent threat. A general B Complex vitamin is intricate to so many reactions in the body, yet absorption of certain items like B12 harbor a very lowly 4-6% bioavailability rate, still one could easily get it cheap enough that liberal dosing (and maybe even a little body octane that has a VERY HEALTHY dose of its counter methylcobalamin in it that may be a bit more bioavailable).
For the most part, these nutrient analyses are one of the things we will get you plenty of experience in when you are with us James and while I understand it isn't exactly exercise phys., you will see its tie-in.

When considering this anti-oxidant problematic, one has to consider several factors pertinent to the study at hand: The physiological condition of the target population and/or cell line; which radical oxygen species was/were produced; what was the administration method (intravenous, oral, and so forth; and what the overall aim of the study was.
For example, if a particular study shows an increase of carcinogenic proteases due to EGCG radical-oxygen species production in rat retinal cancer cells, administered intravenously, that does not have much bearing (if any) on healthy, normal in vivo administration. I have not seen this individual's article, so I will refrain from commenting on it in particular, but too many paint these things with a broad stroke.
