As does the bible...your point? The Book of Mormon teaches that God is Spirit in Alma 18:28. So really the Book of Mormon contradicts itself.
It seems extremely odd to me that African Americans would adopt Christianity, rather than loathe it for being the religion of their ancestors captors.....
cool related quote:
"I prayed for freedom for twenty years,
but recieved no answer until I prayed with my legs."
~Fredrick Douglas
As does the bible...your point?
The objection is not to them believing in a trinity. It's because they've departed from Biblical Christianity by teaching another gospel. The Bible clearly states:
8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. Galations 1
Mormons teach that man can work his way to godhood and that god was once a man. If God was one a man then this proves that he is not outside of time and had a beginning. The God of the Bible has NO beginning! The Bible clearly teaches that God is Spirit! Satan sad to Eve in the Garden that she can be like god. Sadly Mormonism is a doctrine of devils!
The slaves taken from africa had christianity stuffed down their throats by their masters is what I was sayingLoathe it for it for being the religion of their ancestors captors...
This is makes no sense. The Jews were the ones in bondage.
I still dont see how it goes against the bible. And mormonism teaches that we have always existed. And Christ says things like "from eternity to eternity."
And mormonism gives you something to look forward to. Even a paradise would get boring without progression.
What verse in the bible would make god having a body impossible?
How is mormonism a doctorine of devils? ha.
Though I have a personal distain for mormonism, I still cant ignore its good attributes. For instance they always out-do the US Government in disaster relief
The slaves taken from africa had christianity stuffed down their throats by their masters is what I was saying
The Bible clearly states that God is Spirit. If you want to believe that he has a body then go ahead but it's not scriptural. It's a doctrine of devils because Satan said it to Eve In Gen. 3:5 and clearly Mormonism is following this path. You question what God said and believe Satan- you can become like god.
Beside the Book of Mormon has never been proven archaelogically like the Bible has which explains why the Book of Mormon has NO maps! The Lamanites never existed!
Let there be no mistake, I dont believe in God lol.
I think both books are crock. The bible was just more meticulously historized to give it the appearance of being authentic.

Ok
Mark 7:24-30 is referring to unclean spirits (devils).
I don't see racism in the Bible but when it comes to slavery, the Jews were enslaved for disobedience to God. That shows me there'sa consequence for sin.
Jesus healed other people who had devils so there's something else going on in Mark. I've always heard it interpeted as a black woman begging him to heal here daughter....and thus my disgust for the story
You honestly believe that the Jews have had such a hard time because they're being punished?
Hitler was influential because the Jewish Population in Germany basically owned the country so no one could do business without renting land from the jews at exorbitant rates. God had nothing to do with it. If he did, I dont know how any conscionable person could worship him
Just going to ignore my question about why jewish babies were sent into slavery by god?
Re: Contradictions: Check both lineages of Jesus and tell me why they are different (contradiction). Also, read the conflicting reports of the resurrection (who jesus appeared to, what order, what location, and what he said if anything) and let me know which of the contradicting stories is correct.
So there were no existing children alive when god enslaved the jews? Also, should not the perfect being be able to free those children born, or are we looking at yet another example of injustice commited by this "benevolent" being? When people are enslaved, they have sex so there kids are born into slavery. I don't know what else to say.
About the conflicting accounts of Jesus can you please me more specific as to what you want. Those accounts fit together like a glove. It's all about timing just tell me what you want to know point by point.
When people are enslaved, they have sex so there kids are born into slavery. I don't know what else to say.
to go ahead and doom myself to redicule, look up the Annunaki. The summerians say they created us in test tubes. pretty interesting stuff. I by no means put any eggs in that basket. I'm just saying, its one creation possibility.
Do you lean in any direction as to how we got here Omen?
I really dont have one
"Its better to have no beliefs than false ones."
Thomas Jefferson i think
Yep...pretty much the way I see it.I have no idea how we got here, I have a lot of ideas, nothing I can prove, therefor, my stance is "unknown"
I read a book my friend gave to me called "The genesis race" similar to what you said, interesting but mostly a waste of time.
If I ever find out, great, if I never find out, great, I'm not gonna spend time worrying about something I cannot achieve, but rather spend my time on things I can.

Only in religion would the slaughter of an innocent to save the guilty be considered something desirable and moral.Something to think about from The Age of Reason by Thomas Paine.
"If I owe a person money, and cannot pay him, and he threatens to put me in prison, another person can take the debt upon himself, and pay it for me. But if I have committed a crime, every circumstance of the case is changed. Moral justice cannot take the innocent for the guilty even if the innocent would offer itself. To suppose justice to do this, is to destroy the principle of its existence, which is the thingitself. It is then no longer justice. It is indiscriminate revenge."
The atonment is philosophically inconsistent. It cannot be the work of a just God, because it is in no way just.
So there were no existing children alive when god enslaved the jews? Also, should not the perfect being be able to free those children born, or are we looking at yet another example of injustice commited by this "benevolent" being?
Example: Slaughter of all lfirstborn children in Egypt (aka Passover). Oh? What did those babies do to deserve slaughter? Nothing? How moral of him.
What kind of repugnant monster punishes children not for what they themselves have done, but for what their parens have done?Of course there were children alive. The only conclusion is that those children paid the price when there parents rejected God.
Those babies that died during the passover in Egypt was a result of blood not smeared on the door and since Egypt turned their back on the 1 True God and turned to their own gods for help against the Almighty they got what they deserved! God is a Jealous God!
He's saying why would god allow that.
Punishments handed out by god are never fair, and often are put upon the innocent. for example according to the bible, women are still punished for Eves sin with morning sickness and all the other unpleasant aspects of pregnancy.

Disgusting god.
Whoa, dude...these are actions that GOD TOOK...not some accident of birth.Sometimes I guess it sucks being born in the wrong family. Fror instance a child is raised in a family of abuse and violence and that child is hurt physically all the time. Is it God's fault that child was born to those parents? No.
Do I "support" abortion?dsade
Do you support abortion?
ok just wondered because of your cry for the innocent children of the Bible.
First of all, I do not claim to be some perfect, absolutely moral being demanding unquestioning worship.ok just wondered because of your cry for the innocent children of the Bible.
If you want a good religion movie watch zeitgeistmovie.com
Where did you hear that? He's saying why would god allow that.

I have no idea...this is the only answer I can give in regards to this stuff.Whoa, dude...these are actions that GOD TOOK...not some accident of birth.
he enslaved a whole race (including INNOCENT children) for some kind of disobedience to god. Ok, then how did the children disobey god and deserve the direct punishment of god?
What did the children of Egypt do to deserve to be SLAUGHTERED by angels SENT BY GOD??
The actions are indefensible...and this is usually where christians retreat into "well, who are we to question god's will" and "he has a purpose for everything he does" which again brings god away from any kind of moral designator and either makes him blatantly IMmoral, or at best Amoral.
I have no idea...this is the only answer I can give in regards to this stuff.
I have to say this isn't the behavior God wants us to follow, and isn't the message he sent through his Son.
I was a huge skeptic, and did a ton of searching (but whisker said something earlier I need to check on) and came to the conclusion I've been tooting all along here.
I found what I believe to be the ticket to starting eternity on earth, I escaped sin...in a way...that's really hard to explain. WHen I was younger I got all mixed up in reaching enlightenment and other stuff, but had some serious doubts after a while on being able to accomplish this through other teachings, I picked up a bible and instead of reading it from the beginning, I read it from the new beginning... it started a huge change in what I thought. Not until just recently did I figure out some important things (grace), and I will say I found enlightenment that keeps me in touch with the REAL world, in it's raw state, if that makes any sense. I found a true strength and happiness, I never realized I could have without taking off to some mts. top and secluding myself from reality. I have to admit there are things I can't explain, but the truth that I have tattooed inside me is real, and I wish I could share it with everybody.
I have no doubt in heaven and I have no doubt I found the way there, OK sometime's I have doubt, but in comes FAITH to save me. Not many of these conversations end, from my end, without that word do they.
You talk a lot about slaves, I used to be a slave to things, not so anymore, I had to sacrafice who I was, and I was set free to be who I really was, and I like this new guy a ton more.LOL FAITH
Remember even if you really really really want something to be true, hoping so and having faith that it will be, does not make it so, neither does it change reality one bit.
"It only stands to reason that where there's sacrifice, there's someone collecting the sacrificial offerings. Where there's service, there is someone being served. The man who speaks to you of sacrifice is speaking of slaves and masters, and intends to be the master."
Ayn Rand
And you, the slave.
"Reason is not automatic. Those who deny it cannot be conquered by it. Do not count on them. Leave them alone." Ayn Rand

Did you end the conversation telling me I don't have the ability to reason...so you ended it by insulting my intelligence. The conversation about religion has ended with both sides taking the normal roles.

To me, that's irrational, religion is not for rational free thinkers, only irrational slaves.

First of all, I do not claim to be some perfect, absolutely moral being demanding unquestioning worship.
Second of all, I just clarified myself regarding the status of collections of cells and the fuzzy line of where a foetus can be considered truly human AND viable.
Check your old testament, and tell me how many times the jews were COMMANDED by god to go and slaughter whole other tribes - men, women, children...or to slaughter just the men and mothers, keeping the virgins and young girls for themselves (to be raped and made into slaves, of course). Remember...on COMMAND by god.
This is your perfect, benevolent being.
Considering the quote I just posted and the second one, this is too funny
I ended the post with a quote, yes, I know you don't have the ability to reason.
You believe that there's an invisible entity that has the power to do anything, anywhere. You have no proof, yet you still believe this fantasy.
The word of god, that you believe in, is criminal, yet, you still follow it.
To me, that's irrational, religion is not for rational free thinkers, only irrational slaves.
What were you a slave to before you became a slave for religion?
