well the weight with SD wont come on as fast, not till weeks 3 and 4 does it fly on... BUT most overlook the fact that SD is VERY carb friendly. Pack down complex carbs with every SD dose and youll have some VERY full muscle bellies, great pumps and INSANE strength... creatine should work synergistically well with it as well because of this so where as I normally would save creatine so its fresh in PCT I suggest you dose it 10g ed throughout the cycle. You can EASILY put on 15-30lbs (not all lbm at higher end) in 4 weeks depending on your diet additional supps and edxperience with anabolics.
This is very dry usually BUT alot if the weight at first could be glycogen retention but solidifies very easily.... I ate a (whole) Pizza everyday for lunch my first cycle and still looked like this by cycles end...

so to really answer your question, use the smallest dose of SD or Mdrol possible, the sides can be INSANE specially the anger/irritability and with too high a dose and not enough electrolytes back pumps are SEVERE.. those are just the noticable ones.. not what its doing to your liver and lipids. Your dose of SD should start at 10mg, seriously, and then keep at 20mg for as long as possible 30mg would be a MAX dose and really has the chance to bring the severe sides... your results will likely be more dependant on your diet (a good clean carb filled diet at 20mg would be my choice).
