VP candidates?

i like that ad, quite accurate :)
I will say this, if McCain picks Romney as rumored (at least right now) there will be plenty for the Obama/Biden campaign to choose from where McCain/Romney rip each other apart

Like what? The biggest issue was a timeline in Iraq which is basically irrelevant at this point. I never heard Romney make any concrete statement like Biden does. Romney is a bit more slippery than Biden. He's more of a politician. Biden is just a loose cannon that flies off the handle all the time.

hehe..he's all over the place. I grew up with Biden so this is normal to me :)

I wonder if you watched the debates, besides Iraq, Romney ripped at McCain over the economy, on many ocassions. I think McCain needs to be careful if he chooses Romney. However, I think Romney brings the most to his ticket. You are correct, Romney is a true politician, and is an excellent campaigner, and would certainly help. I think if he chooses Pawlenty, Crist, or Portman, if wont add enough for the party.

I agree, Biden can be a loose cannon, but it is not as frequent as it may seem.

He was good today, and started a few jabs towards his friend John McCain.

I think Biden brings credentials, and experience, both of which we all know were lacking in Obama's campaign

Then have fun wondering.

besides Iraq, Romney ripped at McCain over the economy, on many ocassions.

And what did that consist of? "You said the economy wasn't your strong point. Its mine". That's about it.

OTOH McCain ripped into Romney for suggesting a timeline which both agreed in the last debate wasn't an option at the moment.

That was about the jist of the whole "rivalry". This idea that they were at each others throats and made these drastic concrete statements questioning the competency of each other serving as President is ridiculous.

The Repubulbican primary for the most part was boring.

Thats because a Senator from Delaware rarely gets pressed on issues. When he has been pressed, he tends to mouth off like he's actually knows what he's talking about.

Which is sort of funny since Obamas main theme is to change Washington. He then picks someone who is in his sixth term as a Senator from the second smallest state to solidify that message.

Actually, it went deeper, however after having discussed politics with you, I know you only see what you want.

again, I dont know how many debates you watched, but since they were the two key figures, they were at each other pretty harshly

once Romney left, you are correct

I believe this was the argument for years about McCain. He would spout off, however, once he realized he had a good shot, he began to reapply himself to keep his mouth shut and take the back seat to the far religious right

the problem with this is that Obama was in a no win situation here. If he chooses Kaine, then you would have said "two guys with no experience". If he chooses Hillary, I could only imagine your comments. So he chooses someone with foreign policy credentials, who has a good global reputation, and now he is too much of an insider? Either way, Obama would lose in the republicans eyes

Pot - kettle - black.

I watched them all when Romney went after Huckabee first. I guess you didn't watch those in the beginning. Romney went after the front runner whoever it was.

Yes, that's why he is campaigning with Lieberman and Ridge to appease the religious right.

McCain was never considering a loud mouth. He generally acted on his talk. The right aren't suspicious of him because of his talk, its because of his actions with Feingold and Kennedy.

But at least he was consistent and actually did something that he believed in. If he truly believes in change, then prove it. He didn't. I actually think he should have gone with Jim Webb. He's still inexperienced but more of a leader IMO.

Why give the other side ammo for more criticism when you could keep it to "inexperience"?

If he chooses Hillary, I could only imagine your comments.

Pretty much the same argument as Biden. I actually think Hillary is a lot more competent than Biden.

Its a no win situation because Republicans think HE is a liability as well as many moderates. There is a reason why he is slipping in the polls. Who cares what Republicans think about the VP pick. It generally means nothing anyway. You can't import credibility. You need that from the top down, not the reverse. Trying to appease your critics when they will never vote for you anyway is contradictory to your whole theme. He's trying to be everything to everyone.

But at least he was consistent and actually did something that he believed in. If he truly believes in change, then prove it. He didn't.

I still think this is something people refuse to recognize about bush. an obama presidency would be bending in the wind with every poll change. bush always stayed on his course, and didn't care about the polls. And before the "lowest approval rating in history" comment comes up from the other side, the democrat controlled congress has a LOWER approval rating than bush.

I highly doubt McCain will pick Romney or Liberman. My money is on Pawlenty.

Look like I'm about to be right. I may have heard a few things from my former boss who I worked under when I was an intern in Pawlenty's office

Palwenty is an interesting choice, however he does not offer much to the ticket IMO. Little experience (same age as Obama) and barely won his own state (7% in '02 and 1% in '06). Hell, Ventura did better

Him being a Republican and winning the office of Governor in a historically democratic state is saying a lot. He is also very experienced fiscally. He's given Minnesota a 180 degree turn in economic policy and standing. He's also conservative but moderate enough to attract middle ground voters (part of the reason he won MN). He's got a lot going for him and will add quite a bit to the ticket. It will also be difficult for Democrats to find any dirt or blemishes on his record. He will also seem like a softie and much kinder candidate than Biden come the VP debates which will certainly undermine the democrats POA of 'change'; this will also attract middle ground voters.

He's also extremely talented at explaining policy and political dealings in terms that anyone can understand, even younger voters. He is the perfect yang to McCain IMO.

But I did work for him, so I'm a little biased

However, the odds are he wont even deliver his home state. Additionally, he has been very ardent in his attacks on both Obama and Biden, which sort of goes against the "softee" feel he might get.

I think it is an interesting choice, but not one that will ultimately help McCain

You'll see what I mean about softie when you hear him speak enough. Obama's Rome is already falling, it's only a matter of time.

Well he certainly is not protraying himself that way now. Very much an attack dog at the moment, and he has done fairly well with it.

However, watching foxnews this am, and they are reporting a chartered plane from Alaska to Dayton. Sarah Palin! Smarter choice imo.

Either way, I think Biden will make either look foolish in a debate, but that probably will not have a huge impact

Regarding Obama's Rome falling, not sure I am seeing that just yet

It wont be Palwenty, at least that is being reported right now. He will be staying in Minn. today, according to ABC and CNN

Yeah looks like I and my sources were wrong. A woman is a smart choice, especially if she can be a *****. I've always thought if he picked a woman it would be a great thing but I didn't have any ideas of who he should. I guess this lady is the answer.

I think the choice is rather interesting. The only things they can attack her on are things obama is just as bad for. Saying "do you really want to put a person this inexperienced 1 heartbeat away from the presidency" is so comical, because the dems are asking you to put someone just as inexperienced IN the presidency.

And talk about someone in touch with blue collar joe, I mean crap she still in summers helps her husband on his commercial fishing boat. thats as blue collar as it gets. And with the oldest child in the military, and the youngest with downs syndrome you can't question her in terms of believing in the military or her pro life stance.

The lack of experience gives me a little twinge, but then again how much experience did any of our presidents really have in their real responsibilities as president? none till their second term :) And from what I can see she is tough enough to not be afraid to stand up for what is right, which counts to me a lot more than sucking up to someone to hope they miraculously change their way of acting like obama's plan for iran.

We have lost that in america I think, or lost sight of it. Doing what is right is worth whatever it costs you. appeasing the person who is doing wrong only delays things and remember they are doing wrong because they dont have the same sanctity for human life. Trying to make them believe differently only delays things, and gives them more time to make plans to do you harm.

I agree it is interesting. However, the McCain campaign has sort of thrown away the experience card argument, especially considering McCain's age and health history. I also think her impact on women is being overstated at this point. She is so polar opposite to Clinton it is ridiculous. Hell from issues to experience they are worlds apart, so the Obama camp needs to hope women realize that

I am looking forward to her and Joe going at it on 10-2 in the debates.
