"...got nearly exterminated by them," you mean...
"...got nearly exterminated by them," you mean...
no different to a lot of the indigenous people/cultures from all the countries that make up the "commonwealth"
Woah guys. Sounds to me like you're accusing the English of mass genocide. Now I'm usually the first in line to criticise my country's history, not least the stuff that went on in the 'empire'. We invaded and screwed up alot of the world, the after-effects of which can still be felt in places like Iraq today. The facts are there I don't have a problem admiting to that.
But "exterminating" people...? That's something else entirely. You needs to have your facts pretty straight before you start accusing a people of genocide.
I hate to lower the tone of a thread that started of as a joke, but accusing my country of "exterminating" people is not something I can leave unanswered.
i live in new zealand, was born in new zealand, i'm of mixed culture and i know my countries history very well, i live in a region rich in history both native and colonial.
That sucks that party pills are illegal now, i was planning a trip there with a friend of mine who did a semester in Queensland.
i think ireland still has legal party pills containing bzp FP, there's still no reason why you can't still come to new zealand bro, it's still a great place.
FYI Queensland is a state in Australia however we do have a city called Queenstown which is a tourist mecca.
cheers
Ok man. But to me "nearly exterminated" still implies "tried to exterminate", which is no less of an accusation.dude, body wizard wrote "nearly exterminated by them"
key word here is "nearly" and there was no mention of the word genocide.
and i'm not looking to get into a piss fight here, i don't have anything personal against anyone who's from england except the royal family but that's a whole different topic.

:goodpost::goodpost::goodpost:I don't imagine they went into great detail about Edward II's "conquest" of the Welsh when you were in school, any more than our schools went into detail about US support for tyrants & dictators around the world - or our own near-extermination of "the Indians". My own research is hardly state-of-the-art, but I'm pretty good at putting together the pieces of historical puzzles, and all the evidence (to me) seems to indicate that Edward simply killed everyone he could find in Wales. Of course, he didn't kill *everyone*: but the Welsh have not recovered to this day - call it "ethnic cleansing" if you like, but the English learned it from the Romans (for whom the English ruling-class have traditionally been totally queer) long before we learned it from the by-now-British
Not out to insult my/our English brothers: each nation has tragedy in its past. Better to own up w/ clear eyes than to spin, dodge & dissemble (and yes, I mean to apply that to US as well - principle is principle).
Choose your own words, then: how would YOU characterise it?Ok man. But to me "nearly exterminated" still implies "tried to exterminate", which is no less of an accusation.
I'm not looking for a fight either, just criticising a very poor choice of words. I guess misunderstandings happen.
Ok. With regard to EdwardII, there's such a thing as historical context. You're citing an example of something that happened 700 years ago. I doubt there existed a monarch in that period that couldn't be accused of horrific war crimes when judged by modern moral standards, including Welsh and Scottish ones. Edward II was probably responsible for the death of just as many English peasants as he was Welsh and Scottish. There's no justifying it, but that's just the way the world worked back then.Choose your own words, then: how would YOU characterise it?
And more to the point I think it was wrong of B unit to expand the "extermination" to cover the commonwealth, a period full of atrocities which we can judge by modern moral standards and I can reasonably be expected to "own up to with clear eyes".
Well... can't argue with thatanyway here's a better reason why england sucks:stick:
Well... can't argue with that![]()

only because they turned up 2 years too late :stick:
all due respect because the americans did kick some a ss once they turned up but would the US armed forces had of entered at all if the japs hadn't of ambused them at pearl harbour?
Not likely, that's why we saved the Bomb for them.
ironic stuff
Oh man, your telling me, i used to live in Detroit untill about 1st year of high school.
We demolished Japan, then rebuilt it to be a nation of the future, while we, for the most part, ignored our own survival.
I dont mean to sound calous by my remark, i dont support the killing of 100,000+ civilians with the bombs we dropped. But it happened, and no one in their right mind has f'd with the US since.

Sometimes the line between right and wrong becomes blurred.
Aren't you going to become a student minister?
In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.
