How do YOU define EFFECTIVE DOSE?

How do you define effective dose............. how do you judge what is an effective dose............... what do you base your answer to these questions on?

Typically for single compounds I do a Google search using the chemical name and add recommended dose. Then search the multiple listings until I can see a pattern (average amount) for ED or EOD usage. This becomes my starting point. Example, DHEA: has recommendations as low as several mg up to hundreds, even Gram's ! The real low and high values I ignore and average out the rest. This is a statistical approach (again for my own starting point) Sometimes values obtained are checked against known medical websites to avoid overdose and/or complications like sevear side effects to stomach upset ect...sadly not enough formal clinical studies have been performed yet and substance quality can vary from brand to indivigual batch. Also, other variations will exist in products that contain a combination of compounds. This needs to be factored in and is delt by personal trial and error (change my username to LaB-rat) Thankfully, the feedback from the AM fourm helps make my decision on which items to experiment with.
 
ahhh i just tried to answer this...but ive been writing an essay all night and my head is spinning, so i will tackle it tomorrow.....
 
i dose until i see/feel desired results or see/feel neg sides. with DRIVE (one of my fav supps), 4 caps do nothing to me but with 6 i have insane endurnace and strength gains

Thanks, In regards to Drive I find the recommended dose to be perfect and really had a good effect (focus/energy/power)whail using just one bottle. The RPM was a little different, This formula gave me quite a lift/kick so I only took half the recommended dose. RPM would compliment anyone who WO first thing in the morning or when battling through a lethargic phase.
 
i follow whatever instructions are at first, and if need be, increase from there. If need be is the key here.
 
So................ if research shows it takes 500mg of an active ingredient to achieve results, and my 500mg maximum containing capsule has 15 ingredients in it: Did I achieve an efective dose?

Nope, hence some of inquiries lately. Some companies are releasing mixes without an effective dose of the needed compound.

Someone posted a label a few weeks back from a product that had 87 ingredients if I remember right. Hilarious.

Yeah, no shlt. Some are pointing fingers at product that seems to base their results on one compound. Even if that were true, and the results from that compound were as stated, how is that not successful? If you get an accurate dose of what is stated, and the results are there, I dont see the problem.

I think some could do better by simplifying their product, and only include what works, and leave the unnecessary filler out of the equation.

How bout replace "unnecessary filler" with something that would promote improved uptake/absorbtion.
 
I wish that comapanies had to print the amount of each ingredient on the label. I hate propriotory blends. I know they help companies keep their formulas secret, but I want to be able to regulate exactly what I'm taking.

i know what you mean !

Typical example.
1200 mg of proprietary blend
(includes the following)
item A
item B
item C
item D

but never indivigual amounts for A-D are provided. however, i'd prefer this to any type of forced reporting because that might lead to regulation and we don't want to go down that road.
 
Well for me the effective dose is basically the level the substance has to be taken at to produce the greatest effect under practical dosing/safe levels.

This brings up a question I have pondered about Cissus extracts where the effective dose is not set in stone depending on the extract. Could potentially 350mg of the 50% extract be equivalent to 700 mg of a 25% extract, i.e. how important are the ketosterones vs. the other extracts in the cissus compound. A study on this would be very interesting to myself.

No, just curious as to how people view the term effective dose- not just as it pertains to our line but to any supplement in general.

I've read a few posts where people call something underdosed. In some cases, they are very correct. An Example: a product that has 10 ingredients in a 500 mg capsule and the dosage is 1 capsule. Research can show the effective dose of virtually each ingredient is darn near 500 mg by itself. This would be underdosed in my opinion.
 
i just read the recommended dose and multiply by a random number and thats how i figure out my dose :)

I don't know how it can define but yes i want to say according my experience. A few weeks back I am feeling some problem in maintain erection and I think it’s due to my anxiety.
