Don Aless says:

• Also avoid alcohol-based sugars such as malitol, glycerol, and sorbitol.

Didn't go into detail, but I am searching...

GBC is definitely recomping my forearms. I can see a difference

You probably aren't using machines any more and actually have to lift and control the weight.

My only concern is your form and what not. If you are doing Lat Raises wrong...

Check out that video library I linked ya too.

Yeah, thats my concern too, so i've been spending time looking at videos. and working with lower weights, but by using tempo and also a little bit of isometrics, how much weight isn't really all that important.

I'm pretty comfy i'm good on form with squats, deadlifts and good mornings now. Getting better on the others, still a little wishy washy on benchpress. I relied on smith machines for too long

From an article on a low carb website:
------------
These sweeteners are neither sugars, nor alcohols, but they are carbohydrates nonetheless. They are sometimes called POLYOLS, to avoid confusion. At the present time, they have not been legally classified for product labelling purposes, as are sugars, starch and fiber. So, some manufacturers are choosing to omit them from the total carb count in the nutrient data panel of the label (they MUST however declare the amount of sugar alcohol in the ingredient list). Because they aren't actually SUGAR, products that contain them may use the term "sugar free" on the label.

There are some claims that sugar alcohols don't have carbs, and therefore don't count; that they can be completely subtracted if listed on the label. This statement is not entirely "false" but it is misleading. Sugar alcohols do have carbs, and approx. 1/2 to 3/4 the calories of regular sugar. They are more slowly and incompletely absorbed from the small intestine than sugar, thus producing a much smaller and slower rise in blood sugar ... and consequently insulin.

Sugar alcohols do have carb calories, and the body will use these as fuel, or store as fat, whether or not insulin is involved. You need to look at the total CALORIES for one serving of the product. Subtract from this total the number of calories from any protein in the product (prot = 4 cal. per gm), then subtract the calories from any FAT in the product (fat = 9 cal. per gm). What's left is the calories from carbohydrate ... divide this remainder by 4 (carbs = 4 cal. per gm). If the number you get is bigger than the number of carbs declared on the label, the product has hidden carbs, and it's most likely the polyol. Calories do not just disappear into thin air!

actually I think my shoulders + pecs too. I can feel a bit of a difference in the shower.

I guess i'll run by sams club today and pick up vast quantities of jerky in 1 or 2 oz packs

So whattaya think, run gbc for a total of 7 rounds, then switch back to GVT for 30 days while at recomp grade calories?

Weight isn't important. I get caught up sometimes with how much I am lifting. Partly because, before my BB'ing hiatus (6 years), I felt I was strong and a lean mean machine. Being back now for a year and a few months, and still haven't achieved any major goals, because of a sh1tty diet, but I digress...

The bottom line is, you appear to be highly motivated and have the resources and dedication. We just need to break you from over-analyzing, stick to a plan and objective. I strongly believe you would benefit immensely from John Berardi's writings and programs. Check out his site some more and some of the transformations.

Jerky and nuts bro. I would avoid peanuts, but the other nuts would be great and pumpkin seeds. Prepare you a trail mix so to speak...

I've got organic raw unsalted cashews, almonds, brazil nuts + macadamias in the house :D

man are the cashews good

i do like analyzing, but thats just my personality.

I do feel funny squatting with an olympic bar with 2 10lb plates on it, but who cares, i'm still going ass to ground for 4 sets of 12.

Its a pity, poliquins site only works with firefox so i'm boycotting the site and any products he sells. what a tard. I'll look at berardis when I get a chance.

Hello Ladies...no peanuts? I assume that means no peanut BUTTER???

You are dead to me J :trout: I'm sorry...will you forgive me and take me back???

They call them sapucaia. Bolivia is the largest exporter of Brazil nuts, and they call them almendras.

Did you HAVE to take my fun away??? :nutkick:

LOL

Almendras are almonds, btw. Brazil nuts are usualy called Coquitos del Brasil in Spanish...not sure in Portuguese.

EDIT: Duh - SAPUCAIA :D

sunflower butter is pretty nice. i've bought more jars of that now than either peanut or almond. pricewise its in the middle. i like it better than the almond

you guys freak me out! i sit there highlighting all your posts to make sure you aren't using the dreaded WHITE TEXT! LMAO! :frustrate

why not peanuts? salt? i use the lightly salted kind.

It is a speculation from the author. And I am guilty of eating peanut butter, but try to limit it regarding this response from John Berardi

While peanuts are good sources of monounsaturated fatty acids, they do present problems for enough people to exercise caution. At least 1 to 3% of the US population (that's about three million people) is estimated to have peanut allergies. If you're among this group you probably already know it since Skippy undoubtedly has sent you to the emergency room.

While I don't have a lot of support for my caution, I'm cautious about hyper-allergenic foods for the remainder of the population (i.e. milk, peanuts, etc). I speculate that food allergy isn't an all or nothing thing. There's probably a spectrum to food allergy, meaning that certain foods may not cause anaphylactic reactions, but may lead to "sub-clinical" problems, meaning physiological stress.

In normal peanut allergy, the body produces an immune response to some of the components of the peanut. This response leads to an intense physiological stressor (anaphylaxis - the throat swells shut). However, if my speculation is true, then many individuals may experience some type of milder "stress" as a result of the allergen.

As you well know, whenever the body is suffering from stress - whether training stress, job stress, or digestive stress - cortisol levels rise. Chronic elevation of cortisol is linked to muscle growth impairment, increased fat gain, and risk for many disease states.

Due to the high likelihood of peanut allergy (however mild it may present) and the stress that's associated with it, it's wise to just avoid peanuts and other allergenic foods altogether. Although I realize that peanut butter has been a dietary staple of my iron brotherhood for generations, there are certainly better sources of dietary protein out there as well as alternate sources of dietary fat.

I mean I am sure peanuts are fine, but I think there are better nuts to consume. I still eat them if they are in my mixed nuts, and I consume peanut butter.

So I guess it is more just a little FYI.

Just remember the 5% rule. You should be able to increase the weight by 5% each subsequent workout. You will be up to 25's in no time :squat:

Yeah sh1tty development. I mean use Flock so I have no issues, but I can't stand IE or MS, but I still make sure my ish works on all browsers....

I like a double progression..increase weight (my preference) or increase reps...but increase something every workout! :head:
