This site is about selling selling supplements nothing more. It may have been about other things before there were sponsors but most of you that posted in this thread were not around then. Sure its a good site to learn about different supplements and find out what they are all about. If you really want to learn about nutrition I suggest you go elsewhere though. I agree with the original poster of this thread that its mostly a game of copycat here. Like most threads on this site, it started out good but then was ruined and is now out of control and not worth following.

I think that is what he meant. if you precision time out all your meals, all sorts of supplements, shakes etc vs you just eat well in general maybe use creatine your difference in gains or the way you look isn't huge and unless you compete or model theres better ways to spend your time. My personal feeling is that obsession with supplement and meal timing as well as macros and types of carbs, proteins etc every meal will make less than a 10% difference to someone just eating all around well and using a few basic supplements.

That said, the bodybuilding obsession with meals and timings may be good for some individuals who haven't seen a psychiatrist and aren't on meds cause at least its a somewhat healthier obsession than being alcoholic, addicted to drugs, etc.
+1 for truth, logic and lack of bias.
This thread is still open????

Talk about not having a life and being a D-bag.

I'll keep my bodybuilding life style and you keep crying about not being dedicated enough to hang with us big boys.

That's what we are DEDICATED I'm sorry you're not.

I enjoy everyday of my life. I LOVE my life. I LOVE my diet, I LOVE training and most importantly I LOVE being able to do something "90%" of the population CAN NOT do.

Go eat your cake buddy, have a beer, eat fast food and smoke some crack, by all means enjoy life.

Unsub'd for the 2nd time.
As long as you're able to still maintain a healthy social life and you have fun doing what you do, not hurting anyone, including yourself, then do your thing!

The OP's thoughts may easily be taken out of context and be seen as an attack of sorts on individuals who are dedicated but if you know you're dedicated and know there's nothing wrong with you then you shouldn't respond.

It's like if someone got on here and made a comment about short people. Why would you take offense to it if you were tall? Unless you're experiencing insecurity in what form or another just keep doing what you're doing if it's benefiting you. The OP's should be observed and considered as a sensible, friendly reminder to KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid).

On the flip side.

Why would someone who doesn't care about what we do and think it's a waste of time. Come in here to say it's crap?

If he's comfortable eating clean and using only the basic staples and seeing the same reults as he was when spending $$$ on supps. Super! But why bother to knock other peoples hobbies? Maybe he's insecure...

He came into a forum that is known for it's enthusiasm towards supps. If he doesn't like them, why bother to come here? He came into a "short people forum and made fun of short people" per your analogy.

Either way it's a dumb ass pissing contest. Haha! You waste money on supps stupid! Vs. Haha! I like it and I don't care!

Do what you do and don't give a **** about the rest. If you're really humble... You'll keep your disaproval to yourself.

LOL....no, everyone in this thread is not right. Remember, the OP started by calling people that watch their diets very closely douches. That's probably why he's not getting very much respect here.

Well, it can be difficult to get your point across if you're offending those you're attempting to reach. However, the underlying is still accurate and very sensible. Even those who have "disagreed" with him have simultaneously agreed with what's beneath the offenses and cut-downs.

Folks like EasyEJL and others have summarized the OP's intended message, instilling lower levels of perceived hostility in the message. Black will always be black. Doesn't matter if the fella telling you is calling you a moron or a douche. I understand why folks aren't being receptive to planetfuzz' message though.

Peace & Love :) smoke something: it'll be easier lol

I can. :soapbox:

To each his own. The OP comes across in the first post as a narrow minded person that apparently believes that those that are different from him are wrong. He went fishing in a forum and got a huge variety of answers that are summed up by my first sentence in this paragraph. He'll get no respect for his own opinions as long as he starts out calling people that embrace a healthy lifestyle "douches". He should go away or show a bit of respect for this forum and the people that inhabit it.

I haven't been on this site in about 2 years.

I used to be big into weight lifting. I obsessed about my diet and supplements. I remember spending hundreds each month on supplements. I was in great shape but let's be real, that is no way to live.

During the past 2 years, I attended culinary school and recently graduated. I of course learned how to cook some great meals. Combining my new knowledge of food and what I used to do, I have some thoughts:

Why do people obsess about this crap? Is fruit sugar bad? Casein protein? Must drink protein shake within 10 minutes of workout. I can't have 1 beer cause it'll ruin my gains. WTF

Just eat good, clean food. Focus on animals that are raised and fed well. Make sure you eat lots of fruits and veggies. Just live your life. Eat food your grandparents could have eaten as kids and you'll be fine. Eat real food.

Look at sculptures of ancient Greeks. Do you think they were taking their whey and NO2 religiously? No. They ate good food and were active. Simple.
Well it’s better obsess about this crap than the 63.1% of adults in the U.S. were either overweight or obese that obsess about eating nothing but crap.

It very well be 90% BS, that part is profit driven, if that was not there. Well this forum would not be possible.

There are a lot of supplements that are not necessary, but the fine culinary foods you are producing is not necessary either. Sure enjoyable but not necessary!

The 10% that is left is the “Just eat good, clean food.” .

Well I’m sure everyone who has joined this forum is taking better care of their body” eat good, clean food” more than before they joined.

Thanks for your post. It makes me appreciate the all the advise, good, bad, crap that was sifted thru to get to the 10% golden nuggets.

If I may,

90% of supplements ARE a waste of money - eat a balanced diet. The nit-picking on this or that makes such a minute difference to you and I. "OMG, do i need to take grapefruit juive with my PH?" "What if I take my cycle assist within 4 hours of taking my PH, am I not going to make any gains, does it lose its absorption?" The sh*t does get ridiculous and redundant. If you're not getting paid to eat sleep and train only, then it's not going to make a difference.

I've lived it, I went thru the phases. But I have also matured, learned and grew from that stage. Many of you have not. If I had all the money in the world, didn't have to work and could live my life solely dedicated to lifting, then yes I'd engorge myself with this stuff. But I can't. I remain practical. I have staple supps such as a multi, fish oil and protein powders. I also use gear, which if I remember correctly, earlier in this thread a wise man said that gear makes supps obsolete. For many instances in life, less is more.

Just look at the marketing. If it sounds too good to be true, well you know the rest. "We've created the perfect steroid". Oh really? And for anyone who comes in here and posts "what is the best xxxxxx supplement", c'mon are you really that naive to think that reps aren't going to push their products on you like it's their job? ...oh wait, it is. There are a few parts of the forum virgin to the "bureaucracy" of supp companys. Exercise science comes to mind. You never want to let a few bad apples ruin your experience, but when it's a majority of the bushel, you call it how you see it.

Like much in this world, supps etc are a luxury. I know what they're about, the feeling behind getting a new package in the mail, the cool bottles, the mental game of being on something and such. I get it. And bringing your exercise platform to a T, well good for you. Standing for something positive is better than standing for something negative, even if you look and sound retarded. What I stated earlier was fact. But in the end, if it makes you feel good, do it. You're free to go

I think a lot of supplements get a bad rap b/c they are under dosed and in a prob blend... I've never taken a new sup and gained 5 pounds because of it tho.

Btw if markusrulezzz stopped creating so many new threads this site would only be 15% BS!! haha

I still don't see where in his initial post he called anyone a douche.
Apparently it's been edited. He made a reference to being "that guy" that has to order only skinless baked chicken when he goes out to eat.

EDIT: My bad, it was page 5, not page 1.

Just push your body beyond what it is used to, it will grow and eat your fruits and veggies blah blah blah. Oh yeah! Then maybe you can have a life and not be that douche at dinner who gets the grilled chicken with steam broccoli. Enjoy life!

The feeling you get with certain supplements: nootropic effects, pump, libido etc. are very real, even if you lift occasionally and eat like ****. The difference is you won't see any difference in the mirror. That's what gets people to buy a ****-ton of supplements, want to try the new ones, and pimp products they used that haven't changed their body long-term. We have some inherent drive to alter our consciousness or chemistry, or to make ourselves "feel" better. In all reality, a guy that didn't take any supplements could easily pack on more weight and get leaner than a guy with a subpar diet and 100 different supplements. Even in my own case, if i haven't worked out for a while and want to get back into it, I always have the urge to get on nutra and see what all the new products are, even if I have a bunch of the essentials in bulk.

It even applies to psychopharmacology. Let's say ALCAR or nicotine make you feel like you remember things more easily or retain information better. However, it's very likely that if you took a test your cognition probably didn't improve, if it did it was most likely negligible. However, you want to continue to use it because of that feeling.

Do I think 90% of supplements are a waste of time? Well, I think more than 10% do what they are designed to do and have noticeable effects. However, if your diet isn't right, and you aren't working out intelligently, I would say 100% of supplements are useless. That's day 1 stuff.

Yeah but by page 5 people had already called him all sorts of crap, so I could understand him being irritated.

I really understand what he was getting at, living your life by 12 alarms on the clock a day as to what time to take what supp and eat a 400 calories precise macro meal means missing out on a lot of life, and doesn't make that much difference if you aren't competing and trying to make it to pro.

Yeah but the entire thread started by basically insulting certain people's choices, specifically the "douche" in the restaraunt who said nothing to the OP.

Would I do it personally? Hells no. Do I think it's funny or ridiculous or unnecessary? Yeah, for the most part and for most of the people in the world.

There are people in the world that obsess over EVERYTHING. Cars, stereos, computers, girls, their lawn and garden, home decor, etc etc etc. But, the logic of confronting them in their own environment escapes me. The entire first post is not worth the time and electrons it took to type it. It was a fishing expedition and only added the the alleged 90% BS ratio.

I don't care about the ePeen argument a few pages back. That was a result of the OP blindly fishing and had nothing to do with the OPs preexisting opinion of people that choose to do something he doesn't. He thought Mr. Chicken and Broccoli guy was a douche before all the other crap even started.

Some people are just anal retentive or OCD. Who cares? Why come to a forum that caters to the type of information that those people want and then insult them for it? You get what you get.

The point is that you can have a better body than most without taking it to extremes and living your life by a clock and super rigid diet that makes you not be a part of family social events. The margin of difference in how your body looks isn't significantly affected by you having a slice of cake or a beer once or twice a month, or if you dose your milk thistle within 2 hours of your oral steroids :)

That is strictly your opinion and I respect it. I go out to clubs and bars all the time. Some times I drink but I mostly drink water. I run out to my car and down some BCAAs or a can of chicken. I don't miss family events and when I go I bring my own food or they know what to cook for me, lol I guess that is more of an excuse then opinion after all. I have a awesome life and I do it all with a great body, white teeth and golden tan plus I make it look easy ;)

I remember sleeping over at a friends house when I was like 8. We had fried chicken for dinner WITH SKIN. I went home and told my mom about the crispy amazingness and she told me next time peal it off the crispy part. Most the time when I eat fried chicken I do... But I'm sure I had cake at bdays. I don't think I've had a full slice of cake or pie since I was 16 tho. I'll have a sliver just to shut up the fat slobs who are jealous that I have the self control to turn down junk food.
