Considering taking ZMA to increase testosterone levels, aid REM sleep and recovery, is it worth taking?
If so what are the best brands of ZMA.
Thanks,
Tom.
If I were deficient in those minerals, I assume it would help boost t levels? Concerned I'm loosing a lot of those minerals thru urine and sweat as I drink a lot of water throughout the day and sweat buckets in training, I also just need something that gives me a bit of a boost and helps with recovery, I train hard 6 days a week, combined with working 50 hours a week I sometimes feel a little flat which is why I liked the ZMA for the REM sleep thing, anything else you might recommend?

ZMA works great for helping me sleep. If you're looking for a product to boost your natural testosterone levels that includes ZMA, I'd suggest Alphamax. You get the benefits of improved sleep with ZMA, along with other great ingredients to help support size and strength gains.
Try and get blood work done if you can to see what your values are for those minerals. Also, you could vary your diet. I think people often think of their diet, in terms of micros, on a small scale. Think about it on a weekly scale. Vary your food sources throughout the week to try and get your vitamins and minerals in.
Personally, I'm not sold on ZMA for a testosterone boost. If anything, better sleep, but some people don't report that. Sleep will help with recovery, but I would look into something like melatonin first.
Ive taken just about every form of ZMA . It did over the course of a few weeks give me the feeling of better recovery and increased sense of well-being better sleep and I felt a little more aggressive in the gym. I would definitely recommend a product like Alphamax it is a complete product that has forskolin which is very useful for increasing cAMP levels. L-dopa which has been proven to help free testosterone catch a big raise also useful in boosting growth hormone which is very essential in the muscle building process. Armistane to control cortisol and estrogen. 3 4 divanil helps raise free and total testosterone . If you have any questions you can pm me as well or tag me.
sourced from China?
People worry about brands too much. All of the reputable brands are good. SNS, PES, Primaforce, NOW, etc. All work. Millennium ZMK is a slightly different form and worth trying...but I didn't see a huge difference.
I tried ZMK for a couple days and hated it. My sleep was significantly worse (only slept for two hours one night and four hours the next). I don't know if it was the high dose of copper (which I read may be stimulating) in it or what.
I've noticed that high doses of ZMA actually tend to make my sleep worse. More is certainly not better in this case. My theory is that CMK is supposedly more bioavailable so a smaller dose may increase the amount in your system more than a similar dose of straight ZMA. Or it may be the copper like you said. In either case reducing the number of pills may help you find a sweet spot that helps you sleep better. I find this is true of regular ZMA too although the suggested dosage is usually effective.
i have similar issue just taking zma before bed alot of times il wake up within 3 hours of when i went to sleep
Reducing the ZMK dose is a good suggestion. However, I was already taking a reduced dose at only three capsules the first night and two capsules the second (serving size is 4 capsules). The next night I went back to my magnesium glycinate (400 mg) and slept great. My wife takes ZMA and sleeps great on it (she also couldn't tolerate ZMK). However, she only takes two capsules...three gives her worse sleep.
Anyone have any idea why this could be?
Kind of strange considering it's supposed to be good for REM sleep
