ZMA

Considering taking ZMA to increase testosterone levels, aid REM sleep and recovery, is it worth taking?

If so what are the best brands of ZMA.

Thanks,

Tom.

If you are not deficient in those minerals it won't do much for you in terms of testosterone production. However, it is a decent sleep aid.

I would suggest SNS ZMA. Good trustworthy brand and low prices.

If you are looking specifically for a good test booster, I'd suggest looking into LJ100 and/or Test1fy PRO

ZMA works great for helping me sleep. If you're looking for a product to boost your natural testosterone levels that includes ZMA, I'd suggest Alphamax. You get the benefits of improved sleep with ZMA, along with other great ingredients to help support size and strength gains.

If I were deficient in those minerals, I assume it would help boost t levels? Concerned I'm loosing a lot of those minerals thru urine and sweat as I drink a lot of water throughout the day and sweat buckets in training, I also just need something that gives me a bit of a boost and helps with recovery, I train hard 6 days a week, combined with working 50 hours a week I sometimes feel a little flat which is why I liked the ZMA for the REM sleep thing, anything else you might recommend?

ZMA and LJ100

Working out 6 days a week + a 50 hour work week and everything else might have you running thin. My guess is your cortisol levels are getting out of whack.

LJ100 has a TON of clinical studies showing:
- Increase in testosterone
- Reduction in cortisol
- Generates an overall feeling of reduced stress and well being

OL LJ100 can be ran at 5 days on and two off. So for about $30 you get a 6-week supply. The extract is strong, and some even drop it to 1 cap a day.

Try and get blood work done if you can to see what your values are for those minerals. Also, you could vary your diet. I think people often think of their diet, in terms of micros, on a small scale. Think about it on a weekly scale. Vary your food sources throughout the week to try and get your vitamins and minerals in.

Personally, I'm not sold on ZMA for a testosterone boost. If anything, better sleep, but some people don't report that. Sleep will help with recovery, but I would look into something like melatonin first.

I've heard good and bad about supplementing ZMA. I've used it before and haven't seen too much with it. I'd almost recommend just picking up a good sleep aid and otc test booster and you will get more out of that than ZMA.

John and I are on the same wavelength this week - this is exactly what I was going to say, only he says it better.

I take ZMA for sleep and never really considered it for testosterone boosting. I will say this, I started giving it to my gf at night when I would take it and now she is constantly commenting on how much it helps her sleep and she can't believe it works so well being just simple minerals.

My mom constantly complains about sleep issues. All her life. Last weekend I gave her some KSM-66 and PES TruZMA and the other day she told me, "I don't know what is in that stuff you gave me, but the last couple nights I've slept right through the night". My mom never likes anything, so any comment on it working is a testament.

Better sleep = better recovery.

IForce's ZMA is a solid one too..

Ive taken just about every form of ZMA . It did over the course of a few weeks give me the feeling of better recovery and increased sense of well-being better sleep and I felt a little more aggressive in the gym. I would definitely recommend a product like Alphamax it is a complete product that has forskolin which is very useful for increasing cAMP levels. L-dopa which has been proven to help free testosterone catch a big raise also useful in boosting growth hormone which is very essential in the muscle building process. Armistane to control cortisol and estrogen. 3 4 divanil helps raise free and total testosterone . If you have any questions you can pm me as well or tag me.

serum testing for Mg++ is very inefficient as the large majority of the body load of it is intercellular-in short your provider will see a 1.8-2.0ish and tell you you are WNL however you are likely quite deficient- notice I said likely

sourced from China?

ZMA is a great, cheap addition. Try a bottle and if it works/you feel better then stay on it.

what form of zma is the best

i just started adding a seperate zma for nights i cant sleep and acne help
i assume theres already some in my multi

People worry about brands too much. All of the reputable brands are good. SNS, PES, Primaforce, NOW, etc. All work. Millennium ZMK is a slightly different form and worth trying...but I didn't see a huge difference.

I tried ZMK for a couple days and hated it. My sleep was significantly worse (only slept for two hours one night and four hours the next). I don't know if it was the high dose of copper (which I read may be stimulating) in it or what.

I've noticed that high doses of ZMA actually tend to make my sleep worse. More is certainly not better in this case. My theory is that CMK is supposedly more bioavailable so a smaller dose may increase the amount in your system more than a similar dose of straight ZMA. Or it may be the copper like you said. In either case reducing the number of pills may help you find a sweet spot that helps you sleep better. I find this is true of regular ZMA too although the suggested dosage is usually effective.

Reducing the ZMK dose is a good suggestion. However, I was already taking a reduced dose at only three capsules the first night and two capsules the second (serving size is 4 capsules). The next night I went back to my magnesium glycinate (400 mg) and slept great. My wife takes ZMA and sleeps great on it (she also couldn't tolerate ZMK). However, she only takes two capsules...three gives her worse sleep.

Yeah - I was using the ZMK at 2 pills at a time when I used it for the same reason. I would take it and then wake up more often during the night, reducing to 2 pills fixed this - which made the bottle last longer. Maybe you only need 1 pill even? Or, maybe you are best not using it at all (as this strategy seems to work for you!)

Anyone have any idea why this could be?

Kind of strange considering it's supposed to be good for REM sleep

Not sure of the mechanism behind this, but it is consistent with what I said above - too much ZMA tends to lead to worse sleep. It seems like it can be energizing at a higher dose. And I would describe it the same way, I tend to fall asleep quickly when I take too much but then I am constantly waking up through the night.

We don't know a tremendous amount about sleep, but I suppose it could be an over activation in some form. It's also hard to rule out personal factors like stress, atmosphere of sleeping environment and so forth.

Op, I hope the lower dose works well for you. Growth Factor XT is great for sleep also, as is KSM-66 and Relora.
