Hi guys, I'm needing help finding a good weight gainer. I have the metabolism of a Ferrari and barely any appetite these days. Even w. eating, I can barely keep the weight on. I'm currently doing weight training and eating right but still having a difficult time gaining any weight. I'm 115 lbs and 5'1. Sounds decent but I feel l need more weight on my body. Any suggestions/tips would be appreciated. If you have nothing nice to stay, don't say anything at all. Thanks.

i would say to make your own. use a base protein high in carbs and protein and some natural peanut butter some oats and a banana blend it all up and drink at least 2 a dAy

Fame126: I drink 2 shakes a day. One in the morning and one after a workout. I use peanut butter, banana, fruits, flax oil/seed, oatmeal, yogurt, honey, etc but it's not doing much.

I'm using "my fitness pal" at the moment.

I heard that its a good product. I'm still using fitday. Anyway, I'd just slowly add calories until you start gaining, maybe add an additional 200 calories each week. If at the end of the week you still have not gained, than add an additional 100 each week until you start to see the gains you would like. Weight gainers are extremely expensive and not worth the money. You would be better off either making your own or just adding more solid calorie dense food.

Don't be afraid of eating dietary fat.

For the shakes I would suggest well ripe bananas, milk, whey isolate, dextrose, and creatine monohydrate.

Workouts do compound lifts and don't be afraid to add a little weight to the bars. For cardio do HIIT instead of steady state cardio.

Also make sure to get plenty of sleep.

T-bone, Ahhh.. I love my cardio though :/ I'll think of something. I could eat but I'm so busy w. the baby that I forget to eat sometimes and then I lose my appetite.

Tomahawk88, I've never used dextrose. Was on creatine but it made me extremely bloated so I cut it out.

It is just carbs. Very cheap and adds a sweet taste. I am glad I am lucky to not bloat not care enough about it haha.

Awesome to hear about the HIIT. What kind of work/rest times are you doing?

I was just thinking about this same situation a few minutes ago.

I might have to google that in a bit. You're a man - men don't have all these crappy problems us, women have. Lucky you! I'm doing 1 min at a low speed and 30 seconds at high speed.

It is the good part of table sugar.

Ya I will never complain about being a man.

Not a bad ratio. If I do hiit I have my rest longer. 1 minute should be good for women. Could add rest if your breathing hasn't returned to normal though.

You can add a ton of calories to anything with Natural peanut butter. Whole milk, your favorite protein powder, oatmeal, honey, whole milk ricotta....Blend that up for a tasty shake. Make sure to get the whole milk version of ricotta. Almonds are great to snack on also if you need extra calories. Also get a good tasting organic olive oil and add that to your food, that will help.

Lol, ur telling me everything I'm already doing. I guess all I can do is try to somehow build up a monster appetite.

Yes. Avocados, olive oil, peanut butter, almond, etc.

You mentioned that you tracked calories, curious to know how many calories you're consuming per day? If you want to gain weight, try eating above maintenance. It will probably be uncomfortable at times, but if you want to gain weight that is just something that needs to be dealt with. Like someone mentioned above, do heavy compounds, reduce cardio. A result of that is you will get stronger, and who doesn't want that! Gaining weight is the same for men as it is women. Eat, and then eat some more. Increase calories weekly until you gain weight. You can also try switching up your macro ratios. That will give you some sort of baseline. Some fat gain is to be expected if you choose to bulk, but you seem like you would be able to cut easily once you build on the poundage. Hope that helps. I wish I had that problem. :)

I was consuming about 2500-3000 per day but as I mentioned before, I no longer have the appetite for it, and I don't know why. I have no problem burning calories or losing weight (besides my mid section, of course). I don't mind bulking and gaining some fat but I also do not wish to stop leaning out. I understand its difficult but I was just throwing it out there to see if anybody knew of any methods to either help me gain and keep my weight OR help me build some kind of an appetite.

Drop the cardio down some. If your appetite is less and you continue doing te same amount of cardio as you were when appetite was high obviously you will just be burning to many calories
