Who's eating organic?

I eat organic or pastured eggs, for the most part because i eat so many. i also buy grass fed beef or bison. everything else usually ends up being regular, non organic.

How about chicken?

Can't tell if you buy it regularly, but what's the price difference between organic and non-organic meats look like where you're at man? Just curious cause it's typically enough to dissuade me from non-organic alternatives given my ailing funds. :(

i try to eat organic just so $$ i just try to wash everything good but i do stick to free range eggs(local)and if extra$ grass fed beef but i live in the country so alot fruit/veggies i buy at local fruit farms.

if i was buying chicken regularly though, id definitely buy organic. those regular chickens are so roided out... now way those ginormous breasts are natural haha

if you have netflix check out a movie called "Food Inc"

I feed my family organic chicken but I only eat fish and eggs. Food Inc can be blamed for this. That cow seen was rough to watch!

By federal law--ALL chickens must be hormone-free. Take that for what it is worth though.

well in food inc they dont say anything about using specific hormones but you clearly see chickens who get too big for their frames so they are falling down ever couple steps or so. who knows really. organic chicken is too expensive, id rather spend $10 on a grass fed steak.

I only incidentally buy organic salad stuffs (spring mix salad, peppers, broccoli, etc) because it's cheaper than the other stuff @ Sam's Club. Same goes for some of the fruit I buy. Otherwise, I stick to what's cheapest, as I can only afford what I can afford. I clean my food and try to take precautions when I can. Otherwise, the only food item I make it a point to get at a certain quality are eggs as I not only eat a lot of them a day but the difference in nutritional content is so vast, it's almost like comparing whole milk to skim milk (though the nutrients in question are unknown to the common man =p).

AntonG420 whats your take on Salmon? Do you get the Alaskan wild or farm raised. Huge difference in price.

i buy salmon canned so its way cheaper. i get wild alaska pink salmon for like 1.60 to $2 a can. red is a little more. always buy wild caught, the farm raised stuff is more harmful than beneficial.

The farm raised salmon doesn't have the levels of omega-3 that wild does. If you're not eating wild salmon you may as well just eat ground beef. I'd like to go all organic protein but it's so flipping expensive. I am able to get organic omega-3 eggs though and supp. with fish oil.

Considering the amount I eat, to buy all organic would make me broke. Im more or less selective about my purchases. Vegetables I get at a local Jersey fresh farmers market. Things like chicken or turkey I just could not afford to do organic, no way. I try to avoid ground meats. Red meat is always free range. Eggs, eh... its so minimal in my diet I just get the big 5doz case for cheap - it lasts a while but higher in sodium than some others.
