IC LOL

Sort of...not really... kinda :fool2: I just want a normal everyday long term monogamous relationship.

no such thing. thats an oxymoron. normal means its what a majority of people have, and what a majority of people have is divorces. :)

Not true. I disagree. In general, married couples have higher income levels, lower stress levels, more satisfying sex lives, etc.

Divorce happens when people forget that love is a commitment not a feeling.

I don't blame you. At one point of time I wished for it, but obviously this one broad wasn't for me. It didn't work out....I would have to say there were 3 broads I would've settle down with, the others I had to scare away.

Anywho, I drove myself crazy. I forgot all about it, and BAM, my woman I am with now; wasn't looking for her, but glad I found her, even though I wish this was her head at times ----> :frustrate

Bottom line: Don't rush it, it will scare her away. I would almost sit back and let her do all the calling at first, until she decides she wants to settle down. Because say you guys do settle down, what happens when she goes through some crazy mood and says you forced her to settle down when she didn't want too....But then again, if you let ti come to you, she will say, just the opposite. I guess either way us guys get the raw end of the deal :(

oh the first part up there is all true, I was just debating the definition of normal, and the fact that more than half of marriages end in divorce means that being married maybe isn't "normal" anymore. Not that it isn't better than the alternative, just not normal. Sort of like smeton's outlook on life

I agree...she's been calling me. So, I figured I take a shot since this is her day off. She's seems to be very undecided with what she wants.

Marriage is not relative. Marriage and family is the building block of a society. If you look at the steady decline of western Europe in the past 50 years, it has been due to fewer marriages and fewer births.

People today are irresponsible and not willing to do what it takes to accomplish anything. That's why we are obese, drug users, alcoholics, etc.

I will however agree that normal was not the technically the correct word. By normal, I meant it's common usage. I agree about Smet :-):D

I think you mean, the American Dream and not reality?

I concur about Smet :-)

Marriages fail the same reason diets fail, 12 step programs fail, etc... people give up when it gets difficult. There was a time when is a badge of honor to never give up. That time has long passed. Now, not only do we give up, but there is no shame attached to it.

And, do not think I am being self righteous because I feel the same way about myself...

"We may justly condemn ourselves as the greatest sinners we know because we know more of the folly of our own heart than we do of other people's."

this is my second marriage btw

Can you imgaine Winston Churchill in the face of a Nazi bombing campaign and invasion by the Germans saying, "Hey, let's give it a shot, but if we lose...the schnitzel's on me"

Instead of what he did say, "Never, never, never give up".

Ronald Reagan conservative here...I would vote for Joe Lieberman though...wait he's an independent now.

Ironically, if JFK were alive today, he would likely be a Republican.

my thought was how democrats tend to lean towards permissiveness, and thats a part of why/how marriage has gotten to being treated with the disrepect it has been getting.

I think our founding fathers blew one part in the constitution btw "All men are created equal". Its obvious to your eyes that it isn't true. All men should have equal rights in the name of the law is much better. Even then, if there was a free college would that mean that there couldn't be tests established so only people with enough brains and willing to put in the effort should get in? so difficult. /rant
