I didn't fail to realize anything but one thing. You sat there and watched a guy get his face stomped in and expect some kind of applause? I'm thinking that if this guy was out of control and everyone knew it, then perhaps someone responsible could of stepped up and ended all this before he ended up with severe trauma over talking ****.

it's kind of like justifying someone getting into a major automobile accident because they didn't use a turn signal when they passed you.

I don't care how tall or buff the dude is, a metal bat to his shins and a knee to the ol' sack, he'll never act tough again... next time, defend the little guy, even if he is a drunk prick.
 
good point jay. thing is if this guy was beligerent he wouldnt know what the consequences of his actions were much less what his actions were anyway. If he was already talking trash wouldnt someone try to get him the fvck out? How big was this guy? If he was some lil ass runt then i think the 6'6" 340lb dude should have had a little more restraint. If you are that big and you are offended by a small drunk beligerent guy (less then 180lbs...no offense) you need to restrain yourself from killing the guy imo. He should have had someone to protect him, by getting him out of there before this happened and by trying to restrain the huge guy lol even if he was an a55hole...

I have a problem putting potential harm in my way when it was self-inflicted and over something that resulted in poor decision making. There is nothing heroic about that.

If any old lady was getting mugged, then yes, I would do something because it is for a different cause.

A real man would have used his knuckles against his shin, because real men, have knuckles that can withstand a brick wall... I would punched him in the shin if he was that tall (cuz I couldn't reach dude's jaw)... I woulda verbally abused him as well.. I'm good with words, I woulda made him look like a chump in front of everybody... and if I were you, I would have handled the drunk guy before allowing someone else to do it FOR ME. :cheers:

Who is pissed? And since you watch the Chappelle show I figured you are familiar with stereotypes and generalizations that are portrayed in comedy. So, obviously with your degree it did not come with common sense. RA obviously got it and made him reminisce, which is comedy when you can get someone to relate and laugh...

I think the black guy went too far, one good hit and that should have been it. Also most peoples friends never jump in if there losing... Someone should have jumped in and stopped the fight.

I all most got into a fight at a club with a Huge Little Asian dude(about 5'5- 190lbs) that was about to beat his crazy ex. girlfriend. I jumped an told him that was enough once he put her on the ground. Dude was on a cycle and going threw some roid rage, hell yes its real, and not 10 mins later the dude is givin me a hug and tellin me how sorry he was about the situation. BTW the girl had it coming she was trying to burn his face with a cig but he was about to go to far with his reaction, she was quickly kicked out and he got to stay in the club.
 
Reaper, you're the one who tries to insult people's intelligence if they disagree with you. If talking to people as if they are all below your standards makes you feel better then have at it.

1. I don't feel like being arrested or going to jail, I have had neither occur and I intend to keep it that way.

2. I don't feel like being physically hurt over trying to be a hero over someone who was being a jerk in the first place.

3. This ties in with #1, I intend to keep moving up in my career and I don't need anything 'bloting' my record when they do a background check.

4. I have not been in the hospital due to stupid decision making, this I also intend to keep that way.



A lot of people make irrational decisions based purely on emotion. So why would I subject myself to a problem that has nothing to do with me, especially when I am already intoxicated ? I'm looking out for my own well-being and for my future, not some kid taking a lashing. At any rate the police handled the situation, that's their job and I let them do it. It is absolutely not my responsibility to intervene in such a situation.


I'm not insulting people to get off for the sake of it. I am calling people out because this argument is completely lop-sided. Everyone is all 'yeah get in there cowboy'. Well, I was at the place and I chose not to. I know why people felt the need to be a hero and why I SHOULD have also tried to get in there gun-ho when I didn't. I am simply not willing to compromise myself for something as asanine as a little fight.


This isn't an old lady being mugged, or a child being beaten, so don't confuse this situation with legitimate concerns.

Based off your details, it sounds like a guy got nearly beaten to death for the improper/innapropriate use of words...I have no tolerance for rasism of any kind but if a little guy went up to a guy as big as this black guy is, then that should tell you something about his state of mind at the time.

I have a personal issue with those who refuse to get involved when someone is wrongfully being beaten because it isn't a 'kid or old lady' since when does age or gender have any bearing on the right thing to do? Again, it's a personal issue with me and how I feel about what one should do.

I agree it is a personal issue. At the same time you are a police officer, so your viewpoint towards this issues differs from someone who is not (like myself).
 
Well in my mind fighting solves nothing. It only causes more problems. I just don't see the point in fighting unless you are in a life or death situation and are forced to fight. Otherwise backing away and defusing the situation is the best option. We are a civilized world today, cavemen don't exist anymore and we have discoverd fire.
