whats your favorite Beer

...but nothing beats a nice, fresh, Boston Lager

I actually served Jim Koch, the brewer, and I served him a beer. I didn't know who he was until after, but he told me that I poured the beer exactly how it was meant to be poured. True story!

The man definitely knows the proper way to pour a beer. Now I'm dying for a Hefenwiezen.

Dortmunder or Xmas Ale from Great Lakes brewery. I live outside of Cleveland and the brewery is the ****!

My parents live in Akron.....I'll be visiting in the spring....Have you toured the brewery?...If it worth the trip I might make it...

Yeah, when I used to bartend, they'd bring us out there every year. It's a good time. The bar is pretty sweet There's some history behinfd the woodwork in it)and the food is pretty damn good too.

I just found Abita, which isn't bad at all. I would have to say Chinook or Full Sail are some of my favorites. It's just a shame you can't get them outside of the Pacific Northwest. New Glarus also makes some decent beers. The brewmaster there is a certified German brewmaster, the guy actually worked at Bud for years.

Corona. And only one at a time because the bible condems "drunkeness" unless you are "heavy of heart" or "laden with sorrow."

The bible also says it's ok to stone an unruly wife.

My favourites are Bud, Molsen Canadian and Labatt Blue, the last two are Canadian as am eye, I love our beer, i find most american beer too watered down for my taste. The Bud is also brewed in Canada, it is an american beer but they have breweries in Canada.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Blue Moon yet. Unfiltered Belgian Wheat all the way...and oh, yeah, Newcastle too.

If you read it with a childs understanding you would think it tells us to do that now.

oy vey.... Yeah, and you would think it tells us not to get drunk now too? Or do you possess divine interpretation? On second thought, never mind, this threads about beer.

Read the bible before you condem it.

I have read it, thanks, and am not condemning it. But it's there for INTERPRETATION (Which was my point), not to be taken word for word. You're completely entitled to your beliefs, but don't call me a child because I don't share your exact interpretation of the bible. P.S.-there's more than one religion. Besides, we're ruining the beer thread. I'm not trying to insult your beliefs, and I do respect the fact that they may be different than mine.

I like those too, but I can't drink too many of them(which might be a good thing:D ) the sweetness gets to me. They do go down easy when it's hot out though!

Little side not related to alcohol.

When I am having a hard time staying focused on my college reading I take three shots of tequila and two "B-Stress'" (b vitamins) and I can read AND retain amounts of info that otherwise seemed impossible.......i call it a study cocktail :D

and with what i was saying earlier.....it is not alcohol i have the problem with.
it is the things we do under the influence of it that can make it so terrible.

Are you serious?! That is hardcore! I love tequila, but have never used it for that purpose.

I like the Anchor beers (steam, liberty ale, porter), and most Sam Adams. Hard to get some of the better beers here in AL with our 6.5 ABV :(. Locally, Sweetwater (ATL) IPA is pretty good.

Oh my goodness! There are so many awsome beers. Few are domestic. I haven't had any beer in months, but here are some of my favorites:

Ayinger Celebrator Dopplebock.
Spaten Oktoberfest.
Spaten Alt Bayerish Dunkel.
Ayinger Altbairisch Dunkel
Chimay Trappist ales (all are good)
Pretty much anything from Spaten or Ayinger. Those Germans know their brew.

In general, I find mass-produced American beers to be too light. Ditto for Japanese and Mexican concoctions. Don't ge me wrong, they go great with a meal, but if I'm going to enjoy a good glass of beer, ether by itself, or with some fresh baked breadsticks, I like something with more substance.

Don't get stuck in a rut with mas-produced American beers. Check around, do some exploring. There is a whole wide world of beers out there, waiting to be explored. Yes, there are some very good American microbreweries out there too.

If I can think of anything else, I'll post them later.

A good reason to drink darker/lager beers. I'll be getting myself some Guiness this weekend.

Phenol antioxidant quantity and quality in foods: beers and the effect of two types of beer on an animal model of atherosclerosis.

The free phenols have been measured in 15 lagers, 6 porters and ales, and 11 light and nonalcoholic beers. Phenols were measured colorimetrically using an oxidation-reduction reaction with Folin-Ciocalteu reagent and catechin as the standard. The order of phenol concentration was ales > lagers > low calorie > nonalcoholic. The quality of antioxidants of the major phenols in beers and the quality of beer antioxidants were measured by (1) dose-response inhibition of lower density lipoprotein oxidation and (2) concentration of phenols in the beers at which 50% of the peroxide was destroyed in a luminescent assay for antioxidant activity. The beers' lipoprotein antioxidant quality was clearly superior to that of vitamin antioxidants and to that of the phenol ingredients, suggesting synergism among the antioxidants in the mixture. The average per capita consumption of beer in the United States in 2000 was 225 mL/day, equivalent to 42 mg/day of catechin equivalents. Beer provides more antioxidants per day than wine in the U.S. diet. A dark beer and a lager beer were given at two concentrations to cholesterol-fed hamsters, an animal model of atherosclerosis. At the high dose ((1)/(2)-diluted beer) both lager and dark beer significantly inhibited atherosclerosis compared to a control of 2% alcohol. At the high dose, lager significantly decreased cholesterol and triglycerides, and both beers acted as in vivo antioxidants by decreasing the oxidizability of lower density lipoproteins. At the low dose ((1)/(10)-diluted beer) only the lager beer significantly decreased atherosclerosis compared to the 0.4% alcohol control. The polyphenols in the beers appear to be responsible for the benefits of beer in this model. Lager beer inhibited atherosclerosis at a human equivalent dose in this hamster model of atherosclerosis.

Ultraboch...

When I had my sports bar, it was our 4th draft beer and became a house favorite.

Two thirds Mic ultra, 1 third amber boch...

Ahh I can still taste it now!

Just about any Canadian or German beer. Most American beer sucks......unless you like water. Austrailians make a good batch of Fosters too. Oh, and don't forget good ol' Dixie!:icon_lol:
