What is the Best Water Filtration System?

Everyone knows water is necessary for life and is the best source for hydration and detoxing. The trouble I'm having is finding what kind of water filtration to buy. Some people push alkaline water saying it hydrates better and detoxes your body better while others claim it to be a scam. Reverse osmosis sounds like a purer form of water but it strips necessary minerals. Distilled water from what I hear actually steals minerals from your system. I'm trying to stay away from plastics because of all the toxins, as well. What would you guys suggest?

Carafe style filters like Brita have been shown much less effective than other types of filtration. Under the sink filters and whole house systems are the most effective. Also something to consider: use a shower filter because in a hot shower the chlorine turns from liquid into gas and absorbs into your system. This is a very good topic of discussion, chlorine is cancer causing and should be avoided the best you can.

So is starlight.

Should I avoid the outdoors as well?

Not even close to true...

Tap water has a plethora of things you don't want in your body OP. I recommend getting BPA free jugs (obviously with regular cleaning) and filling them up in at the very least reverse osmosis receptacles. Most will do reverse osmosis, charcoal (for taste), ionized etc... You're on the right track don't listen to those who try to steer you away from the right path

What about his post isn't true?

He said only that those are the things he does and his only issue (personal) is taste preference.

"Over thinking status" stating that the OP is over thinking. He then goes onto lead in the direction of tap water being a good option.

You can pick up a basic sprite filter at most home improvement stores, and health food stores.

Chlorine is a really nasty chemical. I'd rather enjoy the sun and risk over exposure than ignorantly drink water with chlorine and other crap just because I didn't take a little time to filter my water.

I agree, but I think people greatly overstate the risk of a 5-10 minute shower.

I am also of the mind that if I get cancer then so be it. I plan to play my hand as dealt and let the chips fall where they may.

This is my approach to life, I don't necessarily recommend it to others.

Striving for a greater QOL isn't stopping you from "letting the chips fall as they may". My reasoning for avoiding tap has zero to do with longevity and everything to do with how I feel presently.

I am merely talking about consuming water not whether to bathe in faucet water or not. I don't know how this turned into a bathing thread

I wasn't referring to your comment.

I was referring to the poster I had quoted.

I've consumed filtered and tap water and notice no difference between the two (besides taste as mentioned above). Are there certain toxins in tap that can be easily filtered out? Yes. Do I care to buy a $30 filter to get rid of them? Not currently.

Well your shower water is absorbed as well through the skin so it's equally beneficial to filter both.

I don't agree at all.

Drinking water? Maybe.

Shower water? Hell no.

I drink anywhere from 1-1.5 gallons of water a day. I take a 5 minute shower and don't even spend the whole time in the water. Not really equal.

You have your views, and I have mine. I don't argue that there is chlorine, but I also don't tell people to never go swimming in a pool. Do you?

Yes, the contaminants in your water play a large part in hormonal response.

These toxins cannot be flirted out with household filters, no.

You likely wouldn't "feel" a difference.

I realize they play a role in my hormonal response.

Didn't realize a regular filter wouldn't get them.

Am even less likely to care now, doesn't seem to be worth the effort tbh.

I never said never.

A lot of it is based upon my current living situation. It's just not worth it at this point in time (and that may or may not change).

Man I haven't been here in a long time but I remember this section being about "health" and how to be as healthy as possible. It's great that you don't care about what's in your water but that's not really adding any information to this important topic. I think there is another "I'm a meathead I just wanna grow big and die big" section. Also there is scientific proof that in a HOT shower the chlorine will turn into a gas for you to inhale. Very different than swimming in a pool.

Its actually Nutrition/Health.

OP asked a question and I provided him with my personal preference. Is that OK with you?

Tell you what; from now on, before I post, I will run my opinions and preferences by you to make sure I have your approval before posting.

Also, I would be interested in seeing the study.

How hot does this water have to be? What if I only take cold/lukewarm showers? What if I live in Arizona? Is the ambient temperature enough to cause this in my pool? What about heated pools?

Unless you live in michigan , we have aquafina quality water on the tap. I'm somewhat joking but not really. It's pretty good water here, better quality then some found in bottled water (which really makes you wonder where that water really came from that you paid $2 for in the gas station) and ran through an inline filtration device it's even better.... Allegedly.. We're all being poisoned by the man secretly, if he doesn't get it in your water then its your food or something else. We're all doomed!

You know the luckiest people live around underground water supplies. Their tap water is as clean as it gets. I believe NYC is one of those places and they actually bottle and sell their tap water.

They sell bottled alkaline water which is fine but they have them in plastic containers. Even though they state bpa free I'm still a lil wary about drinking from plastics. They do sell machine attachments that attach to you sink and make your water alkaline but they cost upwards of 2000.
Been trying to educate myself on water recently and it's not easy lol
