Help me come up with a site name.
Want to make a blog where that functions primarily as an educational resource for things related to science and fitness.
Any suggestions?

If the blog/website is being run by YOU, then create a name that reflects who you are. Ultimately you want to create a brand that you can market across social platforms to bring people back to your website. You don't want to create a site just for information/resources. You want to create a site that will make you money for providing such information; such as compiling it into an ebook, leads for products/services and/or affiliate programs.
Creating a website based on your name or pseudoname is only viable if you yourself is considered a brand and can market it solely through that source. I.e. a PT or "Fitness Guru".
Otherwise avoid them
Sorry but I don't agree, especially since I personally know a few people that started with nothing but a youtube or instagram account. They are almost at "millionaire" status.
Sometimes following someone from the start of their journey is better than working on a brand first. Websites/brands get popular and fizzle out all the time but you are you... people like you or they don't. Just stay ahead of the curve and you'll be successful.
I get what you mean though, it's up to op to decide what they want in the long-run.

Should have gone with an available .com instead of .infoPeople now have to remember that your site is SurvivalOfTheFitness.INFO and that it's not SurvivalOfTheFittest. What about JudoJoshFitness.com? Again, if this is a professional blog then get yourself out there by making it about you and your expertise.
git rid of the .info, it's cheap.

You are confusing your friends aspirations of creating a self brand with judos of creating an information resource independant of his self.
There is a HUGE difference between trying to create a brand based around yourself and simply putting information out there.
Some people try make a living off their website and videos alone through brand development, others simply like giving reputable information
