Training your biceps too much can also be detrimental. I prefer to add 2-3 sets of heavy barbell work after weighted chins after my back workout. I have not had 16.5 inch arms since I was 14-15..but I do know people (especially tall ones) who do have sub 17" arms with a large frame and or heavy weight. There are also those people who just have **** genetics for arms or do not do enough heavy back work. Sometime people get used to training for strength and get very strong for their size but not large. Straight barbell curls followed by preachers and spiders got my arms past that 17" mark pretty damn quick when I was young.
