I have a hard time believing that a 38 yr old man who does not live a fitness lifestyle can naturally shed a lot of fat in 20 weeks and simultaneously put back on substantial muscle solely from muscle memory.

On top of promoting his movie, and whatever else hollywood stars do.

One would assume that he started training/dieting BEFORE the movie started filming, no?

I don't think that he put on a substantial amount of muscle. Just shedding some fat and starting to train can change a physique rather quickly. I don't think he's ever had much muscle prior to 300, so the muscle memory thing is sort of out, I would say newb gains and the admitted airbrushing/CGI 'gave' him his physique.

So newb gains=lots of muscle in 20 weeks ?

Again, I don't think he gained 'lots of muscle'. No where have I said that. A couple of pounds (which IS possible, you did it right?) while shedding some fat, while training correctly can change the physique rather quickly.

No, it sticks if you continue to train.

Look what happened to Arnold...

Hell, I think Mullet dropped some dramatic weight after his accident.

You don't lose 30 lb's of natural LBM that quickly. We're talking a few months here. You can't lose fat and gain muscle that quick naturally either. The training they were doing was very catabolic and they still gained muscle.

Where did you get 30lbs? Hell, a few days of not eating enough and I can drop some significant weight. Yeah, some is water, glycogen, etc, but if I ate below maintenance for any length of time, I would start shrinking. Now stop training on top of that.

Spend a week or two in the hospital and see how much you drop. My brother dropped close to 30 with three weeks of bedrest and hospital food. Suffered some significant atrophy too. It came back quickly once he was out and back on his feet, but it DOES go away that quickly.

If he doesn't put in the work, training and eating, like he was when prepping for the movie, it most definitely will drop away in a few months.

How about you stop eating correctly, working out, etc. and see what happens to your physique?

You're giving an extreme example. You're brother was in the hospital. This guy is an active actor and probably does all sorts of physical activity on a regular basis.

So either he decided that maintaing his 300 look was too hard because he couldn't lift a few maintenance sets, and eat a few extra chicken breasts.... or, he simply couldn't maintain it because it was AAS gains.

He obviously isn't lifting anything from the looks of his latest pix. Not sure how 'active' of a person he is, but if he was a runner/cyclist or just a cardio junkie, that weight would drop quickly.

I think he found it to be too hard OR 'the look' didn't fit his next role.

Archived from People Magazine:

Christian Bale, 30, joined the ranks of actors like Tom Hanks (Castaway) and Robert De Niro (Taxi Driver), who shed major weight for plum roles. The 6'2" Bale dropped 63 lbs. to play a man whose health deteriorates after not sleeping for a year. "I wouldn't have done that amount of weight loss if I hadn't thought the movie itself was worth seeing," he says. His diet? Coffee, cigarettes and an apple a day. "When he started to eat again, we warned him, 'Start slow. Eat poached eggs and raw foods,'" says costar Jennifer Jason Leigh. "We watched in horror as he started with donuts." (In preparation for Batman)

I guarantee you it was to fit his next role.Or he simply got "ripped" solely for 300.Anyways on my first cut I lost 13lbs in 13 days.I was eating every two hrs, just not near enough cals, way too few carbs, and I started doing cardio on top of those which I wasn't used to at the time.

I just read that in the 6 months when Bale went from the Machinist to Batman Begins, he bulked up 'way too much' for the role. The director, Christopher Nolan, actually had him lose muscle before they could start filming.

pantera-

This is the point where you toss in some info about IFBB pro bodybuilders. LOL.

:toofunny:No,just me as an example this time!Although I bet it's frightening how quickly they'd loose mass if cutting back on everything it takes for them to maintain.I bet lbs a day.........

lose muscle ?

After eating poached eggs+donuts, I could see how overdevelopment of muscle could be an issue.

All natural of course.

Show me someone that could do that on AM. I dare you.

Yeah, especially these days since they've been injecting donuts with artificial growth hormones to get them to grow bigger.

I bought a new type of multi-vitamin at Wal-mart 4 weeks ago and suddenly blew up in muscle. I attributed this to my diet/training.

Later on I come to find about a recall that the vitamins came from Mexico and that my vitamins got mixed up with M1T.

Go figure.

For someone that has no experience with these drugs, you seem to think they are some sort of magic potion that automatically packs on pounds of muscle while you sit around eating doritos and donuts.

I need to re-read the rules. Joking is not allowed.

That's the ironic part. Even with drugs it's hard to do some of these things.

I like to joke about it, but in all seriousness, no I don't believe they are a magic potion.

I've seen enough bad physiques from users to know this is not the case.

:clap2:Thats what I tell guys when they're thiinking about going from designers to illegals.I haven't seen much proof that the results are so much better off test this or that.Def safer.Just remeber that if you get busted one day........

nice edit reaper

tbol > test

Even with every damn drug and diet and everything, it's still hard to do these things. That's why I think these guys did them, because you need all the help you can get.

So how did reaper do it in 25 weeks?

esp. @ 38 yrs old. Youth isn't exactly on their side.

hey look out youngster..

the flip side of that tho is that when you're 38 and been working out for yrs., it's all on your side, cuz you got not only muscle-memory but mature developed muscle as well.

and a slowed metabolism........I honestly can't wait for that.Before ya'll say don't say that,trust me.I want it.My metabolism is turbocharged right now!

agreed.

But there's a big diff. between a 38 yr old who has been working out for many, many years, and a 38 yr old trying to bulk for a role.

I was probably more of an ecto when I was younger. Once I hit around 17 yrs old, my metabolism slowed substantially.

interesting point. my metabolism is still in good shape, but i don't hear many people voicing this opinion.
some people just keep that supercharged metabolism all thru life too.. but you're right, the odds are pretty good that'll yours will slow at some point.

He may be meso. I'll admit that some people are meso. You may even be meso, so it may be hard to understand that gains don't come easy...

I'm just busting on him. I just find it funny that on one hand everyone states that its' impossible without drugs', then he posts up his own natural transformation in roughly the same amount of time.

If the maximum amount of LBM that you could gain naturally is .25 lb's a week in a trained individual, then best case scenario you gain 1 lb LBM a month. So train for 6 months and gain 6 lb's. If you want to lose fat, then you won't gain as much LBM.... sooo.......

What I say is right, and what you say is wrong, so neener neener.

All natural of course.

Like I stated before, look on page, oh well say 150 and i tell you how what I did is somewhat similar to what GB did, albeit, not in 20 weeks but factual none the less.

Once again, in all honesty, I cant see the "gained huge amounts of muscle". The dude looks the same in all those pics, just cut with a few lbs of lbm and some direct development to shoulders but that's about it...legs look same, just cut, back, arms same just a bit cut with an inch here.

Hell our very own ReaperX, the OP, did it in roughly the same amount of time, drug-free.

Bump for Christian Bale getting roid rage and abusing his Sister & Mom.

Last week, CHRISTIAN BALE should have been feeling on top of the world after his Batman sequel, The Dark Knight, smashed all box office records in its opening weekend. But the Brit hottie's glory was shattered when, last Sunday, his mum Jenny and sister Sharon both accused him of assault, sources on his new Terminator movie - in which Bale plays John Connor - claim the actor flew into a rage at the crew and rumours emerged that his marriage was in trouble.

Ahlan! looks into Christian's sudden stratospheric fame and wonders what's causing the cracks in his super-private movie star façade...

lol, I was just thinking about this thread.

I second the juice as the culprit for Christian Bale's violent behavior.

Isn't he a little old to play John Connor? Maybe he's already started his HgH course to reverse some aging for that role...
