Turff49 Quest for Success

Heavy arse inclines and big arse TV = FTW!

Nice workout pump must have been huge! Gotta love a new big tv even if you don't watch it a lot.

Typical workouts have been non existent. But, a different type of workout took its place... manual labor!
Had to rearrange my two shop buildings and since I have no kids around any more then all the lifting was by myself. Had an old 1950's floor model drill press that weighs about 300lbs and had to move it out to make way for the new 280lb drill press that replaces it(thanks wife for the Christmas present). Had to carry the old one down 2 steps and then about 30 yards to the back porch. My god it made me feel old.
Had to move all my wood into the other shop building too. Then, yesterday the new one arrived. Carried all the pieces to the shop from the drive way, about 50 yards and assembled it last night. The hardest part was picking up the head to about 5ft height and setting it on the column. The head weighs about 140-150lbs itself. Hardest damn workout I ever had.
My whole body is sore from the past several nights.

Annnd "this" is why we older lifters actually keep lifting and training! Most 50 something donut eaters couldn't do what you did!!! Come to think about it, most smartphone using 20 somethings couldn't either! Lol

We call that Odd Object training and carries! Totally different kind of work! Get you a big ass chunk of wood and carry it for 50 yards, superset with beating it with a sledge hammer 10 swings per side, or pulling it back with a rope 3-4 sets a couple times a week at the end of your workouts and watch your overall strength and muscular stamina sore!!!!

Dayum straight I was impressed!

So, a lot going on in my complex world. Sat down and calculated how many hours I've worked per week, all year. I've averaged 67 hours a week every week through 12/01/15. Now I know why I've been down and my workouts have stalled. Decided to make a change and it will go into effect here in the next few weeks. Will leave one job and only work for the other company. Will give more details once everything is finalized. Too old for all this and working this much.

Once the decision was made yesterday morning it felt like a ton of weight was lifted off my shoulders. I actually felt like working out last night. So I hit chest!

Incline Barbell bench
135 x 10 X 2
185 x 10
205 x 10
225 x 5 x 3
245 x 3
225 x 4

Incline DB flyes pause reps
50 x 10 x 4

Slept like a baby last night...

Glad you're going to free up some time. The extra money must be nice, but you surely don't want to work your life away.

Only about 50 hours of the 67 are paid hours. I've been documenting my work hours though. The other 17 are figured into my "salary", the whatever it takes clause for salary employees. My other job every hour is compensated.

Yeah, my life has been a mess this year. Took the new job because I could work from home and Janet had to have a knee and hip replacement. Worked part time with my previous employer because I felt I needed to help and didn't want to burn that bridge.
Big changes coming soon. Janet and I discussed at length and now that she's through those surgeries its best for me to "enjoy" my work.

oh well there goes the neighborhood... when do we start the "new shop build"?

Although I'd really enjoy that I'd end up being the homeless starving Artist...
Still not financially secure enough to do that but wish I was. Woodturning wouldn't generate enough to pay the bills.

Will try and catch up later this evening on everyone's logs. Been a long day. Work, then worked out(just finished), get some food in me and then some shop time tonight to finish up a couple Christmas presents. Hopefully in the next 10 days I'll have everything worked out and my life will be back to a more normal environment.

This time of year everyone's at a loss for spare time. Strong Klokovs Brian.

Beast shoulder work! Nice!!

Agree with Thomas..Till we hit 2016... time is precious - as long as we get our lifts in!

Solid shoulder day Brian.

How precious time is! Got a workout in tonight, totally in the dark(used my iPhone light). Mainly because it's like 75 degrees outside and the mosquitos are bad(it rained today).
Anyway, very short but heavy!

One Arm barbell rows left then right no rest between those, just between sets

80 x 10
95 x 10
105 x 10
120 x 10
130 x 10
145 x 8

And my lats and lungs are fried. Total time was like 35 minutes. Only had a protein bar and a chicken salad wrap today along with 2 scoops of stimul8 divided up throughout the day and some aminos.
Needless to say I'm starving now!

Heavy liftin' in the dark with 2 scoops Stimul8 = FTW! Those mosquitos couldn't pierce your skin!

Have had zero time the past 4 days and no workouts other than helping a guy load the old Sony Wega tv into his loaded van. Dang thing weighs like 300lbs and some how I think I ended up carrying all the weight while he wrestled with his end. Realized afterwards it taxed my CNS and my neck quite a bit and it took a day and a half to get it worked out. Dang thing is out of my house and gone thankfully. Chest on tap this after noon.

Just like lifting Atlas Stones! Heal up.

Nice chest workout for feeling so blah. Tried out my new wrist wraps too, sweet to say the least!

Good Lawd, that curl volume.

Ouch! That volume! Nice job Brian!

So many curls!!!!! Arms can't possibly be able to straighten out yet!

The only soreness is if I flex pose and where the bicep ties into the delt. Not too bad really!

So, was going to do Shoulders this morning at the house between conference calls, but it started raining...
So, I decided to give these new bands I got from Elite a try in the house.
Standing OHP presses with bands under my heels.
10 sets of the orange 1 1/8th band was pretty good
Then 8 sets of side raises using the Red 1/2" bands
then 8 sets of front raises using the red 1/2" bands
Then 8 sets of pull a parts with the orange 1 1/8th band.

I actually felt like I had a decent workout. New respect for bands even just by themselves.

Pull aparts, O&B's, pushdown a, curls, spider crawls...The list goes on. Nice session Brian.

Merry Christmas brother!
