Have a few questions. I will be seeing a specialist in the near future but thought I would see if I can get any info here.

Here is the background.

I had a vasectomy 6 years ago. I had 2 sons 10 & 5 1/2 without issues prior.

I was diagnosed with low test in late 05 or early 06. I was on androgel which didnt work then put on IM. My test levels are fine at 855 total and 25 free.

I was looking at having a reversal to try and have a kid with my new wife. My urologist suggested because of being of test that I have a biopsy 1st to see if I am producing any good speerm or antibodies prior to having the surgery.

The test came back negative, or from what I think he ment is that I had no active sperm. Does anyone have any info on what if anything can be done to get me to produce good sperm. I know that the test lowered my LH and FSH and they play some role with sperm production.

So is there any hope of getting my body producing sperm again? HCT, CLOMID I dont know.

Any info or links to sites is greatly appreciated.
 
how atrophied are your testicles? are they raisin sized? HCG may help, there are other things as well that raise LH. even something herbal like resveratrol can help at high enough dosage
 
Originally they seemed to shrink some. Not sever. When I first started the IM test-e my balls hurt almost everyday. I could tell they were shrinking and stayed tight similar to how they get when in cold water.

The size seemed to maintain at about 75% of original size and hang rather than tight about 1/2 the time
 
so hard to say. basically you want to look for things that raise LH (luteinizing hormone). depends on what you can get a dr to prescribe. Theres a bunch of herbals that may or may not help. clomid might, HCG is more likely to.
 
I know the longer you have had a vasectomy that it lowers the % of producing a baby the longer you go. Mine is around the 6 years mark and so I am still at a pretty high/good % rate of making a baby if I get a reversal.

Obviously there is no reason to get a reversal if my biopsy came back at 0 good/active sperm.

I didnt know if stopping the TRT (test-e) and taking something to get my LH and FSH increased and get me to produce my own test again.

At this point I am taking just the test, not hcg or anything.

Kinda a killer to hear that I have no sperm. Not a good feeling.

HCG takes acts like LH, and in the process shuts down LH production.
 
Well, my thinking is that if he has zip for current lh production, the hcg could potentially get his boys working again, even if only for the time he is on HCG. you can't take lh production below 0. He mentions in the other thread that his LH number was so low, he thought it was a mistake. from what it sounds like he's been happy with his TRT results so far, just wants to try and conceive.
 
I agree. I think you might want to try a course of HCG and (yikes) get another testicular biopsy.

If it works, you can try to get uncut.
 
From my knowledge, you'll want to add HMG alongside HCG when trying to produce a healthy sperm count.

HMG is to FSH as HCG is to LH.

TRT will also bottom out your FSH and you can't produce sperm without it very easily. Your chances for producing a healthy amount will greatly increase on it. Most fertility clinics will use both afaik. You may want to speak to a urologist and/or a fertility clinic to get you on the right track :) I'm sure if you once produced offspring, they can help you to again.
 
The Dr, that did the biopsy is my urologist and is also who put my on trt which he only put me on test with no support like hcg or anti-e. My test levels went from 171 to 855 but my e is high at 67

Your thinking is right. HCG works wonders on the boys and sperm production, but the LH number during its use is usually < .07 which is in essence no reading or as close to zero you'll get. I use HCG for long term therapy and love it. I think anyone who is a candidate should give it a try.
 
I've been trying to learn what I can, seeing as how i'm going to go visit an endo soon and try to get on trt myself. already have 3 kids (well, 2 plus one due in 2 months) and so i'd only be concerned about aesthetics of the testicles from here onwards :) I'm mentally shooting for testosterone enanthate, novarel, and aromasin. all 3 are $10/mo copays for me, or I can mail order and get 3 months for 2 months copay. couldn't beat that with a stick
 
Unfortunately for me, hcg has little effect on raising my test further than my current low amount (it appears I am primary). If only I were so lucky, would be nice to only need hcg. If I go on HRT it will keep my baseline levels though and prevent atrophy.

EasyEJL: You don't want to use Aromasin for more than 8 weeks. It has a direct affect on the AR, and will downregulate you overtime. I thought aromasin was superior as well, and it is, but only for short periods. A non-steroidal AI like arimidex would be choice for TRT.
 
nifty, hadn't noticed that about it. I need to get the full panel done, and see where everything really is. probably do that in march

I suspect the primary condition is inevitable. When that happens to me I'll join you. I've done some research on subq test shots and think that will be the way I go. I have no aversion to IM shots. I just think smaller, and more frequent doses can would be better.

You really owe it to yourself to find out if your condition is primary. The LH number you posted is no indication. That's my opinion for what it's worth.
 
For sure, thats the plan maybe next month, just need to start to schedule the appointments. I should have followed thru on it 5 years ago really
 
I'm getting tests done for everything else possible as well, including celiac disease (since I found it odd that my cholesterol dropped after consuming more of it - seems like some sort of metabolic issue - cholesterol is abnormally low at around 107 total).

But I think it is inevitable I am primary and will start TRT before the summer...the symptoms aren't something that I just noticed all of a sudden, which was probably why I didn't get it checked out for so long. I pretty much felt the same 8 yrs ago as I do now. I likely should have gone years ago as well.
 
well, serum cholesterol comes from saturated fat intake, not cholesterol intake. so not taking in enough saturated fats would cause it to go down
 
I was eating saturated fat by the spoonfulls though, morning and night. And tons of animal fat. Beef everyday, cheese, lots of coconut oil.

As of now I'm on the anabolic diet and taking ox bile + enzymes with each meal. Will get testing done again in about 3 months.
 
What is meant by secondary or primary. I know it has to do with the cause of low test but I couldnt tell you what I am from my tests. I know i can just ask my dr. but thoUGHT i WOULD BUG SOMEONE HERE.
