Just saw this in my opinion I think that what they are talking about is maximum recoverable volume. Check this is out: Invalid Link Removed

I think what they are saying is that you don't blast the **** out of your muscles but rather work them out hard so you're able to recover. (Not going to fail on every single set)

They also don't show us how much volume they did.
 
I guess my first question might be, (since they used basically untrained, or guys who had not trained for over 6 months) would the stimulus or results be exactly the same with seasoned lifters?
I kind of liken it to, too much hammering, or raking work, on a novice, puts a blister on the palms.
But a guy who has been doing that kind of work for a bit of time, develops callouses.

Not sure if that example exactly applies, but many of these studies, involve untrained, or less trained individuals.
 
Every amount of exercise is relative to the person doing it. I think the point here is, if you feel like you are overtraining (works differently for everyone), then tone it down, there is such a thing as too much exercise. I also think this applies more to PCT because people have gotten used to the cycle training and can have a hard time toning it down when their bodies cant handle that volume any more.
 
The article leaves much to the imagination. Feels like it was written as an after thought and gives zero details about what the program actually entailed.
