Training through injuries

Three weeks ago I pulled my left pec minor and it swelled up pretty good. I've been taking it easy, seeing my chiropractor, and getting regular deep tissue therapy. I got the go ahead to start pressing again today. It's been 3 weeks of leg days and pulling. I did a few light presses tonight but went easy so as not to aggravate anything.

What are your tips for training through injuries?

exactly what you did! It's tough to take time off from certain training, but you did it perfectly. Just don't over do it and listen to your body and you'll be g2g!

Yea, seems like you did perfect! I had shoulder surgery that took me out for a few months, but would just do what I could, cardio on bike, legs some opposite arm light stuff. Really helped when I came back full bore.

I managed to avoid shoulder reconstructive surgery 8 years ago. Did a lot of damage by ignoring the issue until my shoulder kept popping out of joint when I reached across my body. That was quite the rehab job. Doctor told me i'd never lift any weight over shoulder height again. Last night I did 6 sets of OH presses as usual. Don't tell me what I can't do.

Incline benching for a month. When you flat bench, moving your grip in closer will take the stress out of the armpit where the minor comes up, and low weight with higher reps. I've also heard of people having good results during this injury with flat dumbell presses because you can place your hands at a comfortable angle. i suffered through years of tweaking my pec, which resulted in me just doing sets of 10. then at a meet i watched dan kovacs, who is huge, have a narrow grip for such a large size. then it dawned on me, getting a comfortable grip where your elbows run down your sides and voila! now im pausing with 385.
