Training mask 2.0 ??

I've trained in altitude before, and it's no joke. I guess that this mask is meant to simulate altitude training....hrmm..not sure on effectiveness. I've seen some top people in the Crossfit community bashing it, but sometimes people do that without proper research - especially Crossfit people who like to keep things simple and old school.

By the way, I love that website, Breaking Muscle. I am on there everyday.

Invalid Link Removed i haven't tried it but Brotato tells me it's worked well, perhaps Obama should have trained with one in the first debate in the high altitude of Denver with Romney

Unless you're a top athlete involving cardio I would save the $80

I'm not sure if it actually recreates high altitude training, but from what I've read it seems to be an effective way to work out the diaphragm.
I'd like to see if anyone that lifts BB style ha used one.
Also, I've never been to that site until yesterday. I'll have to check it out more.

Hahaha good one, even though I loathe politics.

And yes, I'm an athletic performer. Have a few years left in my body before retirement. So I feel that this product might be able to give me that edge these last few years.

If you're looking for a bit of a cardio edge, you might be interested in this product. I have it in my current arsenal. It's out of stock on Nutraplanet, but available in many other places:

I've used cordyceps from MST before. They helped but only minimally. Not worth the price IMO.
I may have to give this mask a try. If effective, it would be well worth the price.

It is used mainly by Mixed Martial Artists and boxers. From what I've heard, it can be pretty intense and works well!

I used a friends once just to try it out and it's no joke this think will kick u in the a$$ if ur not prepared for it. Did strength training and cardio with it. Great piece of gear to help raise ur VO2 levels over time.

I am unsure but I thought that altitude training was found to be bogus, ill have to read up on the literature. I have seen some people wearing it at my gym

Please share anything you find :) I have read many mixed reviews on this mask

For me it just doesnt seem to give you the amount of time you would need to get physiological changes such as hemoglobin etc.
however, I think it can be used to create a greater training effect for your actual workout

I've seen it both ways. After doing some reading my OWN conclusion is this:

Training in a hypoxic conditions MAY lead to greater aerobic or anaerobic performance, especially if training near the anaerobic threshold with high intensity exercise
In short it seems to induce a greater training effect
I relate this to restricted blood flow training or other intensity techniques
It does not appear to offer much benefit with a traditional resistance program, although my guess is that if you worked at a fast pace (drop sets etc) you would get some benefit from it.

Training only (not living) is not enough time to undergo the common physiological characteristics of living under hypoxia.

this is NOT meant for resistance training but cardiovascular training. and it works better to live in high altitude and train in low altitude. in other words, the exact opposite usage of what is recommended by this product. i would recommend wearing it during sleep if anything.
