@Hyde I met a older man yesterday that use to compete in powerlifting that specializes in bench. He had a 445 bench in the 220lb class.
I asked him how he use to train bench and it was the most basic thing ever.
10 reps with the bar, 10 reps with 135 and then he would do 3 rep sets @ 185,225,275,315 and so on until he got to 90-95% of his max and do 3 singles. That's it. Occasionally he would do a back off set for amrap but rarely, like 1x month.
Any thoughts on that? He also preferred a slightly narrow or closer then standard grip. Not quite a close grip bench but somewhere in between
