To Butter Spray or Not To Butter Spray....

So I've been trying to eliminate all the crap outta my diet. I got out almost all the artificial sweeteners for the most part, which has made me feel noticeably better, so now im workin' on processed fake crap.

I tried full fat and reduced fat butter but it just doesnt do it for me. I like margarine but that stuff is the worst (country crock is damn good though).

The only real thing I like is I cant believe its not butter spray. I maybe use 50 sprays per day which equates to around 5 grams of fat. I dont see this being a large amount where it would make a big difference.

I wanted others takes on this. What do you use?

Thanks

So what exactly would be the purpose of the butter spray then? To make your food taste LESS like butter?

i think its actually suposed to be a lower calorie way of spraying a pan for nonstick while adding the butter flavor. kinda like butter spray then make pancakes

I know precisely what spray the OP is referring to, but the notion of using spray, but avoiding real butter b/c he "doesn't like the taste of butter" is curious to say the least.

To answer the OP's question, the primary ingredient in most butter sprays (aside from water) is soybean oil.
Not the best choice of fats, but nothing that is going to kill you either.

Good, grass fed butter would be a better choice though

Curious is it? Then again, its curios TO ME that people kill and eat dogs in asian countries, eat horse regularly in europe, and Monkey brain in India.

"Normal", and "Weird" are socially accepted and are geographically norms.

The taste of butter on veggies, ect doesnt do it for me as much as butter spray does. And it takes A LOT more butter to give me the satiety that I need.

So basically it comes down to whether or not some soybean oil in my diet is THAT detrimental to it.

Appreciate the input though.

What is confusing is that you seem to be seeking butter flavor by using a BUTTER FLAVORED spray, yed profess to not like butter.
If you are looking for a bit of oil on your veggies, etc., use olive oil.
If you are looking for butter flavor, use real butter.

Butter spray won't be too detrimental, but there are better options.

Not sure if I can help you at all on the social construction of food norms (which doesn't enter into any of my replies, for the record)

Even more confusing is why butter spray has a unique taste and IMO doesnt take like regular butter. If you feel it does, direct me to the brand of regular butter which tastes most like butter spray. I have tried land o lakes so far, and i wont go the margarine route even though I really like it. Worse for you than Butter Spray.

Not trying to pick a fight, but I am afraid that I won't be able to direct you to a butter that tastes the most like fake butter.

Again, spray butter is nutritionally sub-par, but it won't kill you. You are just using an inferior oil, salt, and a bunch of chemicals to flavor your food. For the record, if you compare the ingredient profile of margarine and spray, they are substantially the same.

Better options include real butter or using a better fat like olive oil or coconut plus a bit of salt.

OK, so I just tried Kerrygold butter, supposedly the best tasting, natural butter there is. I just dont like it like I do butter spray. Therefore, I shall stick to butter spray and be as conservative as possible with it. I cant see if affecting my physique, just not the best ingredients to send through my body.

I use organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil with all other foods. Just tastes a little weird with eggs.
