Time to MonteGROW like a Finaflex Freak!

Wondering if anybody has quite a bit of experience with GVT training. Thoughts?

I did it-Grew like a weed- in 4 months i put on like 8 pounds. Doesnt sound like alot but it was solid mass. It didnt really do much for strength but I never really train that much for strength-just size.

Be ready to be sore as hell though for the first month you do it. and you have to eat a ton.

I like it though...its hard and you have to put you ego aside cause you wont be able to use as much weight

I agree, you have to really put your ego at the door and go for results with this one. 10x10 @60% of your 10 rep max with a 4-0-2 tempo will have you straining AND failing with weights that are embarrassing. However the growth factor from it is high and it helped me lean out a lot. Expect extreme DOMS, some of the biggest pumps you have ever had in your life, and some impressive results. I believe simplyshredded has the actual program lined out. I have used it about 3-4 times and am always impressed but it is hard and takes committing to it to even get started once you have been through it.

Very interesting. I'm gonna start this in about three weeks or so. I might have some 1alpha to help with the DOMS too :)

lol yeah its not hard to start the first time but the 2...3rd...or if your dare a 4th it gets harder each time because you know how bad it hurts...and it never gets better lol

I'm used to a lot of volume but I'll keep an open mind.

Interesting you'd ask this. As I am also very curious... I have a buddy who has been doing this now for the last 10 weeks..

4 days a week.. all he does is:

Day 1: Squats 10x10
Day 2: Bench 10x10
Day 3: Deadlift 10x10
Day 4: Overhead Press 10x10

He is a pretty big guy that moves solid weight. And is doing most of this at 120-140lbs.. I hadn't seen him for 6 weeks and he has leaned out and grown at the same time. I guess I just don't know how, as it doesn't seem like enough?

EDIT: Sorry guys didn't see page 151 of replies... before I started typing

this is true
gonna have to throw some finite maneuvers in the mix to make it "different"
ie rep speed/pause and weight ranges, off the top...

Exactly....so many variatons possible. That's what I like about our sport.

Even the smallest changes can make an impact.

Yesterday was leg day with some biceps thrown in since I didn't train arms this week.

Squats 12/10/10/8/8/6/20
Hack squat 12/10/10/10/8
Sldl 12/10/10/10
Leg extension FST7

Preacher curls 10/10/8/8/8
Standing Dumbbell Curls 10/10/10

Calf Press FST7

Leg DOMS are surprisingly non existent today. Yaaaay for that

Time to shake things up a bit in the pre workout front. Ignite 2 well be moving aside for Stimul8!

So pre workout will be
1 scoop Stimul8
3g Crea-Trona
6 uncapped Max Pump
1 scoop bcaa+saa

Will update tonight and let you know how it goes :)

Your volume is usually very high. Nothing really new for you in this case.

His volume is normally very high but the time under tension is what is going to get him. GVT it is the Volume x TUT = WTF
Remember 10x10 is not the key, if you are not doing the 4-0-2 temp you are not doing GVT you are just doing 10 sets of 10. Sure that is effective but not like GVT is with the 4-0-2 tempo.

How to set up GVT is very easy, there are 2 standard ways to select your starting weight for a lift. Find your 10 reps max, then multply it by 60% that is your starting weight. The other is to do a find your 20 rep max and start with that weight. Supposedly the numbers from both methods will be close to the same. You do your 10x10 with a strict 4-0-2 tempo, and only move up in weight when you can complete all 10 sets of 10 reps.

Normally is is a main exercise and an isolation move for 3 sets. So like chest would be 10x10 bench then 3x10 db flyes or something.

If you follow the 4-0-2 tempo you should not need to modify it at all to get some amazing results.

Fair warning... Not sure I would do this workout and run MAX PUMP. I have had some crazy crippling pumps from GVT and can't imagine doing it on MAX PUMP. Talk about being HYUGE after a workout.

Get that...but it I personally try to keep the pace at a 4 negative 2 positive for all my exercises, nothing new there.

Not sure what kind of tempo monte uses in general.

Take pre workout of Stimul8, Max Pump, Crea-Trona, Bcaa+Saa
12 min in Mood elevating
20 min in beta tingles euphoric energy
25 min in Flushing of skin and Sinuses open up
35 min in tunnel vision with extreme mind muscle connection, pacing in the gym
50 min in sweating some but nothing crazy, slight cold chills, having to time sets so I'm not losing rest periods
80 min in energy is still off the charts have to pull myself out of the gym
120 min in more cold chills, still great focus and strong energy

This was my experience today with a full scoop of Stimul8.

Great advice and insight here buddy. Going to find my numbers this week for when I start. I am not far from that tempo...maybe 3-0-1 exploding at the bottom to the top.

I like it, the typical is Chest/Back, Quads/Hams/Calves, Biceps/Triceps/Shoulders, with only iso for shoulders. I see on yours you have back width and thickness separated, not a bad touch and also gives you a chance to do the 10x10 on shoulders. With the set up you have currently I would opt for the Dips for triceps work. Since the day before you will be pressing up, you will be stronger pressing down that day. Plus it will help build lower pecs quite a bit as well.

My "big" brother came down from Alabama and we got some trendy pics.

Arms are looking Jacked!

Lol he wanted to strike a pose and I thought it was silly so I threw a goofy face in lol.

That's my brother from Alabama. He comes down usually twice a year and we try to catch a game whenever he is here. Had a blast even though the Aggies lost :(
