First time having pecan pie in an ice cream, and indulging in an apple pie based ice cream. Both flavors go hand in hand, and the mix-ins were full of flavor. I really don't have a lot of bad things to say except the amount of brandy was a miss. For some people that will be awesome (especially myself not a drinker), but for those looking to get a good dose they will be upset. I only got about 4-5 pecan pie crust pieces inside this pint which was a miss as well. Seems to be lackluster for consistency in this pint as others have had the same issue.

I had the same issue.... Base is so high quality though but most salt and straw just isn't worth it to me anymore.... Little g ftw.....I will get sweet potato casserole on and j again....and the Elvis and oatmeal cream pie this month sound solid but we will see
 
Should I eat Elvis or oatmeal tomorrow....need help from the bros...read the descriptions before casting your vote please :-)

S and S has great flavors and miss flavors. It is not worth ordering unless you know at least 2 flavors will be gold

Screw those sorbets

Just like AH thy are only releasing like 1 new flavor at a time when it's not worth justifying an order for one flavor hope to see more come out soon

Hard to compete with the Bourbon at Comfy Cow in Louisville KY, since that's bourbon country. I'd try it though since it will be easily available.

I'm not much for it either. The ice cream was good though. When we first arrived in Louisville everyone was like you have to try the mint julip.... nasty

Sure its loaded with candy, but if you can't get any quality ice cream out of it may take away from the experience.

I could make a homemade candy sundae and toss it into a pint and it could be similar and half the price going to walmart and buying some generic ice cream haha.

I am a cookie dough guy (love stuffed cookies and cookie dough) . Plus grace killed it in Fudge Brownie with her brownies.. I have high hopes for PB cookie dough and brownies!

I love cookie dough and PB cookie dough too. That would suck if the popcorn/salty didn't come through.

I hope they are good, I like seeing a young success story like that.

That was my biggest gripe with Ample Hills "A night at the movies" and that flavor. The buttery base was a glorified vanilla. When you think butter.. you think saltiness as well especially when its related to buttery popcorn.

I will say this.. after having a few flavors off Little G's the base ice cream is nothing to write home about. both of my chocolate pints had an icy layer on top (as many others have experienced) and the vanilla was nothing top tier like S&S, AH, or Graeters. It was middle of the road. The chocolate was a step up or on par with ben and jerry's as pretty middle of the road.

The key take home points from Little G's.. --> The brownies , salted ganache chunks, and filled cookie sandwich pieces are her strong points. As well as her swirls if they are nailed right. Fudge Brownie's swirl was a thick goo similar to S&S which does not skimp. Think Turkey Hill in size and density.

(fudge brownie, coffee cookies and cream ((Which is now gone)), Peanut brittle and salted ganache ((which is now gone)), and Milk Cookies and Cream (My favorite off her line because it has cookie dough and filled oreo like cookies)) were the better ones she offered. Sad 2 are gone because she said they did not sell well. If you like coffee the coffee base is like a cold brew and light in roast.

Granted she kills a ton of mix-ins, but mix-ins are not the say it all in grading an ice cream. You have to have good everything to get a top tier grade. Plus her ice cream melts/tempers very fast. where S&S you can eat that pint for 15 minutes and it barley starts to melt. The density is much thicker then Little G's.

Either way.. I am looking forward to the new flavors. I still have to get to my winter collection from here with the Gingerbread, Sweet Potato Casserole, PB Chocolate Pretzel, Pecan Pie, Holiday Sugar Cookie etc... lots to come and lots to review!
 
Elvis review

Supposed to be a banana pudding base...I tasted no banana....the marionberry jam is all over which is great....the bacon peanutbutter cookie dough is decent like a Smokey pb cookie dough and there is a decent enough but Not just didn't live up to the hype for me ....I was really looking forward to a good twist on banana ice cream 8\10
 
Fois gra oatmeal raisin cream pie salt and straw review......

Oatmeal cookies are great...raisins are great..... There was like goopy stuff in it not sure what it was but it was a bit to tangy for me....did not notice a cream. Swirl as stated......luckily cookies are amazing and saved pint for me still...not worth the price for me......the quality is still way be store brands but not worth 23$ I would only rebuy sweet potato casserole and pb and j at this point

I found this very unique how Salt & Straw made a top gingerbread layering (gingerbread cookie batter in the description) that was loaded with flavor. The combination of molasses, gingerbread, and cinnamon was awesome

Salt & Straw took a very similar approach with how thick, dense, and rich the cookie dough mix-ins were involved in this pint. The best part is even with a small hint of nutmeg & molasses it enhances the experience.

Quality ingredients, a nice spin on a gingerbread initial layering, and tons of mix-ins made this an enjoyable experience.

Grade: B+

Give me a a stronger swirl that was overpowered by the peanut butter cup mix-ins. My pint was iced on top (slightly Freezer burnt) and the chocolate base was middle of the road, similar to Ben & Jerry's (nothing to write home about). The density of the swirl was missing, maybe it was swirled into the base because it was much weaker then other reviews I have seen.I think I ate at least 15-20 peanut butter cups in this pint.

Grade: B
 
Bob, just FYI it's "write home about" (as in it's so good you had to write a letter to tell everyone- at in this day a text message ha)... thought you just had a typo the other day but this is the second time in a couple days you've used that phrase haha

Hahaha, I don't know man! The first quarter I was a freshman in undergrad (yea, OSU was still on quarters back then!) I still had a gf in high school back in my hometown. That was good enough to make me want to ride home every once in awhile! (Until I realized there were 20+ thousand girls at Ohio State)
 
I just had another pint of Tonight Dough the other night.

I may venture out and try new things, but THIS WILL ALWAYS BE HOME!

I was back for 3 days and my parents/grandparents made SO much food that I really didn't have the opportunity to grab much. Landed one quart that I previously mentioned in here, but that was it. Saw this and thought it looked cool; had never seen it before. But the price seemed a bit steep in addition to the other factors.

But the "eat it or bake it" tag on the top made me laugh because I"m like -- no one is going to bake this LOL.

Graeter's Cookie Dough Chocolate Chip is also Incredible, not to mention the king of Graeter's Buckeye which has the cookie dough + Massive chocolate Chunks included.

Some good cookie dough's to be had!
