The Unofficial Ice Cream thread

Had another pint of Tonight Dough on Tuesday.

It's OOS quite often around here and I ran to the store after work before grilling out for dinner. Wasn't going to get any ice cream, but told myself "if they have it, I'll grab one." Lo and behold, I had ice cream that night lol.

I love trying ice cream whenever I travel and I'll be in Colombia again soon.... some of the ice cream places I've tried there are amazing. Including a curbside stand of ice cream that was made with fresh milk from a farm and coconut with other local ingredients. Amazing and cost about $0.25

ooooohhhhh now thats exotic... pics plz next time you get some!

I think we need a bodybuilder traveling the world and eating ice cream show. This needs to happen.

I'd just be picking these ice cream drones out of the sky and harvesting the sweet sweet ice cream for myself.

I feel like we can upgrade Duck Hunt to this and that would be my favorite new game. I would play video games again just for this.

Ample Hills Hells kitchen Sink:

This pint is what you would expect from Ample Hills with a small twist. Even with the added element of Guinness to the ice cream it did not skew my final ranking of this flavor. Toffee and Brownies stole the show when you rank the mix-ins offered in Hell's Kitchen Sink. The crunch, texture, and chewiness from the mix-ins form together and enhance this offering. While the cookie dough was lackluster it is a mix-in Ample Hills can improve on. This pint was much better than Floatin’ Over The High Line, but there could be small tweaks to make it one of Ample Hill's best flavors.

Grade: B

Pretty easy to see where their opinions lie...

However, perhaps I'm wrong and they're just waiting for the online orders for the Madam President to just disappear and never be processed.

Then I'd say it would be pretty even.

Best flavors at salt and straw?

Get PB&J, Rocky Road (Since these are only good until Saturday), Almond Brittle off their regular line is a 10/10 and must grab.

Since there is only a few more flavors available for September i would suggest the Coffee (if you are a coffee fan). White Toast, Fig, or maybe the COokie & Cream with Raspberry Swirl for your 5 pack.

Most of the regular flavors on their line are ok, but not worth the cost (SnickerDoodle, Brownie, Sea Salt Caramel Ribbon)

Definitely grab those limited flavors while you can.

check out the mix-ins on the rocky road and PB&J

Ooey Gooey Buttercake is a good scoop if you never had it from AH.. A solid mix-in offered. Their crack cookies IMO are better.

Hints of October S&S Lineup:

Salt & Straw says its Dracula's Blood Pudding also includes a "hint" of chicken liver.

If blood pudding isn't your thing, there are some other, more traditional fall flavors:

The Great Candycopia: A veritable cornucopia of sweets, with homemade Snickers, Whoppers, Heath bars and peanut butter cups mixed into a salted butterscotch ice cream.

Jack o'Lantern Pumpkin Sherbet: The name says it all; a sherbet made with pumpkin juice.

Essence of Ghost: A grayish sherbet which Salt & Straw describes as a combination of bitter, sweet and "slightly musky" flavors.

Love Potion Sorbet: Contains a "secret compound of aphrodisiac fruits and spices."

The Candycopia is fire, the rest of the lineup.. ehh not so much.

Would try the pumpkin sherbert but not for $23 lol

I love mix ins but realistically when there's so that many...why not just buy some candy..... Not much ice cream lol

$23 for candy and a few spoons of ic ;)

I like some ice cream with my candy... or candy with my ice cream... or candy and ice cream in any form.

feed me sweets.

Valid point, but this hand made candy. If you buy real bakery pop tarts, twinkies, etc. they are about $4 each (this isn't even in ny prices btw) and there is more than 1 unit worth of candy inside that pint.

There is a reason why this is a Vanderbilt exclusive flavor and has been a top seller on the Ample Hills line. Sweet, salty, and savory you name it this pint delivers it. If you are a fan of honey comb cereal, sweet nectar honey, and chocolate or potato chips you will be in heaven. Easily a pint I could rescoop and never get sick of. This has to be one of my favorite flavors off the Ample Hills lineup.

Grade: A

Gowanus is still my #1 off the AH Line.

Living in Sweden we dont get all these fantastic ice creams you guys have. BUT i found a flavour of B&J yesterday that i hadnt seen before. It was called EMPOWER mint (Peppermint Ice Cream with Fudge Brownies & Fudge Swirls) and I got a tub ready for my refeed tonight!
