Our #MothersDay flavor will be out this weekend! Plan accordingly!

^^ According to Twitter new flavor coming

New location in NY has a new flavor:

This new Ample Hills Creamery – the second in Manhattan and sixth overall – will feature, like all the company’s stores, its own exclusive flavor: Floatin’ Over the High Line (root beer ice cream with mini-marshmallows and chocolate sprinkles), made with Bubby’s house-made root beer syrup.

Also Ice Cream Pies & Shakes:

What most distinguishes this location, however, are the build-your-own shakes and pie sundaes that incorporate Bubby’s iconic pies, available at both the new store’s counter and on the restaurant’s dessert menu.

Possible ice cream and pie pairings include Ample Hill Creamery’s Vanilla Bean, Nonna D’s Oatmeal Lace, Chocolate Milk & Cookies or Strawberries & Cream with either Bubby’s homemade Apple, Sour Cherry, Chocolate-Peanut Butter or Banoffee pies.

Ample Hills Mothers Day Flavor:
Mama Always Said returns. This smooth and salty dark chocolate ice cream

Wow.. Thats really innovative ample hills.

So the other day saw some pints at Walgreens and figured I'd give it a shot. Good & Delish is apparently the brand name. Anyway, grabbed cookies and cream and moosetracks. One was 560 and the other 640 for the whole pint. Tried out the C&C yesterday -- not impressive at all.

Stopped here. Usually the case for premium ice cream and being very low kcal. There are some exceptions, but its really finding a needle in a haystack.
Stick with Graeters...

Speaking of that.. Going there today when i drive into columbus :) and Jeni's!

I didn't expect Graeters lol. But a 600 cal pint is easy to work in on occasion whereas a 1200 cal pint, while tasty, isn't something I can regularly do. Kroger caught me by surprise and I didn't recall reading anything on this brand, so I rolled the dice for $2/pint. Now I know it's not worth a repurchase and so do you guys lol.

All in the name of research ;)

Fitting ice cream in macros
Not even once I just eat the whole thing :)

That's the point. I know myself which is why I love pints, now. I know if I open it in going to finish it -- and that's okay! But not 1200 kcal every time lol. Not when I like to enjoy a few each week.

^yeah...
I already have a weekly refeed pint that is 1100-1300

Elsewhere is more diet friendly treats when I'm in the mood

Oh and GNO
S'mores Wegmans was insane, loved it!
Nutter Butter was an A- just behind it.

I like your taste in ice cream sir

Handel's Chocoholic Chunk:

Very simple overall review on this Handel's flavor. If you are a fan of dark chocolate and chocolate chunks you will want to give this a scoop. While this may be a basic flavor Handel's executed it well. A very rich and delicious base combined with a goldmine of chocolate chunks provides for a good Handel's experience.

Grade: B

Sometimes basic flavors are more complicated to do well. There's no room to cover up the mistakes. Sounds delicious!

Ask him who recommended those ;-)

For those that don't eat full pints....

Handel's Buckeye:

If you have never had a buckeye you need to get to a bakery and grab one instantly. Chocolate and peanut butter lovers will have no second thoughts of revisiting this pint in the future. Handel's took a premium peanut butter ice cream, and was consistent from top to bottom with mix-ins. While the swirl could of been larger, the addition gave you the full chocolate and peanut butter experience of a buckeye. Not one bad thing to say about this one, I would have to rank this up towards the top with Graham Central Station, Caramel Pretzel Crunch, Midnight Madness, Oreo Dough, and Pumpkin as my favorites.

Grade: A-

Free Scoops... Get you some Munchies, and buy a scoop of It came from Gownas or Commodore on the side
Thank me later.

they had a banana nut flavor there too that sounded good. Banana Ice cream with chocolate covered peanut brittle == If my memory serves me correct

LLN told me this one is decent at best. You would be a fool to skip on munchies or Gownas or Commodore.

The banana flavor I had a pint of in the past was Banoffee Pie, but that one had lots of caramel and choc covered toffee to seal the deal. No caramel and choc covered peanut brittle sounds weaker. Pic of last Banoffee pint below:

Ample Hills puts 4 new flavors out for order:

The Commodore: Salty honey ice cream with chocolate-covered potato chip clusters and honeycomb candy.

It Came From Gowanus: Our darkest, saltiest chocolate ice cream with pieces of orange-scented brownies and hazelnut crack cookies with white chocolate pearls.

Floatin’ Over The High Line: Root beer ice cream made with Bubby’s root beer syrup, mini marshmallows and chocolate sprinkles.

Hell’s Kitchen Sink: Dark chocolate Guinness ice cream with spiced brownies, brown butter cookie dough and toffee pieces.

Ordered this in seconds... Can't wait for Gowanus and commodore.

Hell's Kitchen sounds terrific and I hate beer/IPAs

But I love brownies, toffee and cookie dough

Beer is great. That is all.

not a booze guy either. I don't drink. I have had a few ice creams that included forms of booze and you can hardly taste it.
Belgium Ale from B&J's you tasted more caramel and brownies than booze.
Jeni's Rumball. The chocolate overpowered the rum.
I assume or hope this will be another occasion where the mix-ins and dark chocolate base are superior in flavor as the booze is a mere aftertaste.

Beer is great. That is all.

True American...

Sure hope so. I don't drink either, not my thing.

In my head, the base sounds like it'll compliment the mix-ins well.

May be my first online order for icecream

Ample Hills The Dark Side
Grade: C

Overall The Dark Side is a chocolate lovers dream. The base ice cream is a unique spin off a dark chocolate with a swiss chocolate hint to it. Very unique, and of course Ample Hills thinking outside the box. I have to give this a very low score because I got next to nothing for mix-ins. While a single brownie was delicious. This will not live up to Ample Hills consistency we are use to with mix-ins. For most cases from top to bottom you experience mix-ins in almost every spoonful. Unfortunately bad pints do happen, and with that said it will get a bad score even with an incredible base

Tried Graeters buckeye today.

Seriously one big mix-in. I only ate half the pint

Lol I know man. I failed many

That chocolate chip was huge. What I did eat, was delicious.

No shame in eating half man. In fairness, it's like 700-750 cals which is close to some lower cal pints.

Any of you guys ever use your ice cream maker to attempt a BCAA or pre-workout sorbet? lol

Saw the recipes in the book and one is a raspberry sorbet. Was thinking an amino sorbet would be tasty

It would just be easier to make Gummy's.. less hassel and much easier.
Boil water add the gelatin and the BCAA Powder and then throw it into molds.. place in fridge or freezer and done.
No clean up.
