the ultimate fighter

also was suprised at the complete lack of stamina of those guys.....half way through the first round they both looked worn out....

It looked like these guys had stage fright. The tatoo guy especially. I can't beleive he was a jiu jitsu specialist. He missed chokes and arm bars all day and seemed overwhelmed and exhausted. I have been there in other sports as a youth. All power just leaves your body and your thinking way to much. I think if they fought again it would be much better. They both were willing to take and dish punishment. My 2 cents

I thought Matt did pretty well considering, that was probably the first standup fight he was ever in, ring or street, and he chose to not use any ground attack because of the, unreasonable?

Actually, I'm pretty sure this last episode said that Matt has won two MMA fights and one was by knock out. Regardless of experience for either fighter I would have to agree that they both seemed to gas really quickly. Matt didn't look like a real good striker, but he seems to have heavy hands b/c his sloppy punches really did some damage. If he knew anything about the ground game he could applied a RNC many times b/c Mike was giving up his back a lot...and Mike took one or two solid hits and was a deer in headlights after that...all in all it was a rather lackluster fight. At least now there is still a chance of seeing Bisping vs Hamil though. Now we have to wait and see how the next fights are decided...maybe the fighters will get to vote on it...

very sloppy fight. I think if matt could hear, he would have done better by taking advice from his corner. His hands were down the whole time, punches were sloppy and relativly slow, but he connected to him so I guess it doesnt matter. I was not impressed with Mike at all...he seemed to be all talk, kind of like the red headed kid who thinks he is a bad ass...he wont make it past the semi's...

I would'nt compare those two. Ed Herman is a pretty good fighter, and has a good chance to win the whole thing. Nichols was a train wreck. Herman didn't look great in that last fight, but he's fought a lot of tough guys and has a win over Dave Menne among a few others. I can't stand the guy, but he is a good fighter.

Some of you may already know this, but you can watch all the episodes of TUF at Subfighter in the multimedia forum at the top. I'm a total newb to MMA, so I've been starting to read around there to learn a bit.

I might even try to train a bit if I can find a place nearby. I don't think I'll compete (wouldn't look good--I'm a teacher), but I am definitely impressed with the skill and athleticism of the elites. I used to think it was all just senseless violence, which I am not a fan of.

Working with urban kids at a school that has a deliberate message of steering kids away from the violence of the streets would definitely conflict with getting busted up in a ring. Honestly, I also doubt that I'd have the balls to compete, which is all the more reason that I admire the guys who can do it. But you can only appreciate so much without understanding the technical aspects. I love music, but I know I can't appreciate it the same way a guy like Unicorn Spawn can, because I don't have the technical understanding. Beyond appreciating technique, I'd also like to be as capable as possible of handling a situation.

On the topic of TUF, the difference between these guys and the pros is noticeable, even to me. I watched Tait vs. Josh earlier, and I was able to pick out spots where Josh would have been all done if he were fighting an accomplished submission fighter. He gave Tait his neck, but Tait didnt' have the presence of mind to take it. There is a lot going on that I don't understand; I'm intrigued.

shaolin kung fu doesnt work in MMA, period. unless you learn sometype of pressure point paralyzer death touch move:think:

I was a Shamrock fan until the Ultimate Fighter. His training techiques and people skills seem a little weak. I don't think he's done any of his fighters any good.

agreed, what a shetty coach. he doesnt seem like he really teaches his fighters anything

What bugs me about Shamrock is that he sticks to his schtick of "i've been in this game for 15 years, yadda, yadda" but doesn't help them to become better fighters... in fact he lets them bang each other up putting them at risk of an injury before they have to fight. And instead of bringing in a grappling coach (which may have been the difference between winning and losing for a couple of his fighters), he brings in a bodybuilder to assist him. What a joke he is...

My specialties would include (if I had any others except street fighting where anything goes) Krav Maga, Thai Kickboxing, and Russian Martial Arts, maybe Grappling (I've heard Russian Martial Arts is very ground based, and free formed)

Yea, it's my wife... it would really suck if you've actually seen that tat and thong up close in person. She'd have some splain'n to do...

nobody watched tonights episode? i think kendall won the fight even though kalib quit like a sissy. next episode will be the 185ers again....ed and rory. looks like a good episode because i think rory craps in eds stuff then ed pisses in rory's water bottle haha.

What about Tait and Kristian? They both had a chance for redemption and said no! Oh well, their loss is Ross's gain. Ya' know what I mean?

It was a great fight and i'd have to give it to Kendall also... going into the fight i actually thought that Kalib would take it.

They both got beat mentally and physically... I can almost understand Kristian not wanting to come back cuz he had stitches on his head but Tait flat out wussed... he looked like a beat man.

Tait looked like he got his face run-over. I can understand where he's comin from.

There comes a point in a fighters life when he looses the will to fight. It happens to EVERYBODY that's a fighter. Just that most cases are masked as retirement from a good size career.

It's the same thing in any sport really. The loss of the will to compete is the same thing. It's like loosing motivation to work out. You loose it, you're done till you can find it again.

Yeah, Tait and Kristian are not warriors. They are not cut from the same cloth as true mixed martial artists. I mean, that's almost EXACTLY how Tito got his shot at greatness. I can remember Tim "the Maniac" Sylvia getting his forearm snapped in 2 and still wanting to continue fighting. I could go on and on but I think y'all get the idea. I couldn't believe Tait complaining about his cardio, either. Cardio had nothing to do with the fact that he quit. Just imagine the countless fighters that didn't get chosen, sitting home watching these guys quit. I feel like they not only wasted the coaches, the UFC's and their teammates' time...they fvcking wasted mine!!! It was kinda funny watching Dana getting turned-down, though. LOL BTW, did you guys happen to notice the HUGE difference in coaching coming form either corner? Like night and day.

so what do you think the outcome will be between Rory and Ed? and the winner of that against Kendall who do you think will take that?

Rory vs Ed...what does one base this off of? If I base this fight off of what I've heard (mostly hype though) Ed should win. If I base my decision off of their TUF fights...well, I may just skip this episode b/c their fights looked pretty sloppy :dump:

I was so bummed when I heard Matt was done.

I thought the fight on the last episode with Kalib and Kendall was the best fight of the season/show.

Bisping has already beaten Ross.

I think the Rory and Ed fight will be taken by Ed mainly because Rory looked ****ty fighting against soloman, and somehow K.O.'d him with a weak kick. Ed wasn't very impressive either, but I think he looked better than Rory

I agree with that^

I hope Bisping takes it all. It would have been nice to see Bisping and Matt go at it. Too bad about that though. Maybe that'll happen on one of those Ultimate Fight Nights. I'd still take Bisping of course, but I would liket to see that.

I hope Bisping wins. He also has a baby face. Its so funny to watch him get pissed off at Matt. I also heard that Ed Herman loses to Rory from a source that claims to know the outcomes, but I am not 100% sure if he is lying or not.

 Dammit...I hate when I come across spoilers by accident!

Guess your boy was wrong.

its Bispring vs. the fat short blue headed guy and Grove vs. Herman in the finals.

the fat blue head guy made it to the finals on pure heart he has the most heart out of any of the fighters in this season i think.

Bispring did exactly wat he was planning on doing and connected with that awesome flying knee.

i think if Herman has no standup at all and if Kendal keeps it on the feet he will win so Tito should train Kendall hard on the ground game. GO Hawaii! haha

I'm pulling for Bispring again, he just seems to go all out when he is in training which I like. Also it seems like he likes to use different ways to beat you which is definately the way to go in my book (I like adapting to the situation raither than having a plan, I have a kind of, "win any way you can" aproach)

i agree with them all but i cant remember who Combs is. Is the event going to be on Spike? im pretty sure.

It was pretty unfortunate Kaleb byatched out, I thought he had alot of potential. It's also unfortunate Hamill was injured, he looked like a beast.

Kendall wouldve won the fight either way. Kaleb looked intimadated of him. Yah Hamil shouldve been in the finals but we will see what he's got on the finale.

Hamill looked like crap against Nickels considering he abondoned his wrestling and tries to stand-up against Nickels. It only would have taken a mighty high kick to KO Hammill.

I'm not completey sure about that. The fight looked pretty much square when it ended.

Wes Combs is a pretty big dude with heavy hands. Nickels will get knocked out if the same fighter from his last match shows up.

Yes Hamil seriously needed to stick him on the ground and be done with it. But also train all the time on his stand up so that eventually it will become a strength instead of a weakness.

But man is it me or did these guys not realise the real damage is when you get up close and personal with your opponent? It looked sissyfied swingin from as far out as they have been swingin. You want power? Get up in his grill.

It is easy for us to say things like that, as most of us dont have the amount of pressure that they had on them. But I agree with you.
