'The Prestige'

I went to see this flick yesterday, it was a really well done film. Totally not what I was expecting - but I left the theater quite impressed. Just a heads up, you might want to check it out.

is that the flick with Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch in it?

Good movie. Christian Bale was amazing as always. Don't really like Hugh Jackman (other than Swordfish and Xmen roles) so I didn't like his character. David Bowie makes a cameo. Really well-made film. If you liked movies like Memento, this is right up ur alley.

I saw this movie also... Didnt think I would like it based upon the previws however it turned into a pretty good movie

I gotta give it a big thumbs up also. Interesting movie. The kind I would want to watch again to see if I missed anything.

It's a great film. Just pay attention at the beginning and realize that the narrator is performing a "louisiana shuffle" or whatever (the make you look left, while everythings happening to the right). The movie in itself is a magic trick, so sit back and "watch closely".

I liked The Illusionist better than The Prestige.. but I did really enjoy the Prestige none the less.

The Departed is up there for entertainment value as well. Lots of "the" movies to choose from.. ;)

Yeah I missed the Illusionist - its in my Netflix Queue already though! Its nice to see some great films coming out again, that are putting story and acting ahead of incredible CGI. Or, at least, the CGI recently seems to be so much better integrated.

Between the two, I would choose The Prestige...I actually chose to see this last weekend as my B-day activity.

Other than the similarity of atmosphere (magic, 19th century), the storylines are quite different.

I am a big Nolan/Bale fan.

Did anyone else see the previews for the new Aronofsky film? Looks quite good (and he is the second of my 3 favorite directors, with Wes Anderson completing the trinity.)

The Departed was dope! Waaay too much graphic violence for my tastes but the story is awesome.

yeah sounds like my kind of movie haha. The prestige looked great to me when i saw the preview but i have yet to go and check it out.

Yeah, I like violence too, but I don't need to be beat over the head with it either..so to speak, lol.

The Departed has violence a notch higher and depicted in a more serious vein than Lucky Number Slevin which I also liked a lot.

So are we talking Scarface/Godfather violence, or History of Violence, huh, violience.
