The PR Thread

Overload day at an Animal ABC
Had a blast and got 600lbs with a bicep injury this is a 10lbs PR with the sling

From my competition this past weekend (my first one)

Old deadlift american record -484
New deadlift American record -491 8)
Invalid Link Removed

After my drug test comes back, it should go up on PL watch

Totaled 1107 as well, weighing 143.8. From what I was told that puts me in the top 50 elite lifters for tested and untested athletes.

nice!!! Congrats Tyga, you definitely have over 500 in you

Followed Chris Duffin aka Kabuki of former AM fame and his whiskey and deadlifts protocol this evening. Hit three PRs on deadlift.

505X3
505 sumo (weak stance)
545x4

So is it 2 shots 2-3 minutes before you're set? Do you both feel this helped u with the multiple PRs?

I took one a couple minutes before my set. Yukon Jack, so it's basically 1.5 shots. Whatever you do, don't overthink the protocol for consumption of whiskey. It's not good form. If that were the norm there would be no whiskey!

^ I drank whiskey as well today and pulled a 45lb sumo PR of 600lbs at 224bw

Wow this got me to go search this topic. Never heard this before. Found an article by Duffin. Very interesting.
Can't say if it would have helped or not, but I failed badly on a deadlift PR last week. But I was totally psyched out before I even grabbed the bar
Hmmm

Im trying it Saturday. Cant say I've ever taken Jameson to the gym before. Lets just say im real excited. Hopefully i have another PR to add to the whiskey deadlift crew.

Lol, you guys are retards. I am all for whiskey and I am all for deadlifts, but this is frat boy talk.

I'll just stick with sativa before a lift. ;)

Itd be a different story if i was shotgunning bud lights to rip preacher curls.

I doubt the whiskey would have made your lift, unless you missed it from a lack of confidence or aggression. I was due for a PR. The whiskey just helped me nut up and not second guess myself when I set up.

I was wondering how to lift at a master level! Whiskey! Lol. Congrats on the pull!!!

Just got 240 by 8 on bench for my AMRAP set after completing 6x4 of 240. So volume PR for me. I know it's not where you guys are but hey @145lb I'll take it

Whiskey eh??? So that's the secret?! Awesome work guys!!

I got 235 on deads today! One day it will be 300...and so on!!

Whiskey and DL. I'm dropping in on this thread more often! Congrats on the PRs! Very impressive!

Question is...what is your favorite whiskey?

Headed to the gym with 3oz Jameson ready in a shaker cup. I do have to admit it feels a little strange. I'll report back afterward.

LOL, you expect to break a PR with irish whiskey? You should have gone with a nice rye. Man, rookies.

Eh, i channeled my inner heritage there man. To each their own on whiskey genres haha. Hit a PR regardless, 508x2 @ 210lbs. Old max was 500x1 about 5-6 months ago before i had a bad sciatica flare up. Just started deading conventional again last week after tweaking my left groin pulling sumo, so i'm pretty happy with the PR. Testing for 1 rep next week, still not sure if I'll include the whiskey or not lol.

Kroc Rows:

145's x 6

DB's only go up to 150's, so I will eventually be left with only adding reps. But have progressed weight with 6 being my goal each time. 150 x 12 will be my new goal soon.

Deadlifts. 4x2@475 then 1x3@475. I have never even tried to rep out anything above 455 before.

Benching 295x4 squatted 425x1 deadlifted 465x1 powercleaned 270. Running a 4.59(with laser time) 40yard dash while weighing 207.3lbs at 5foot9. 30inch vertical. btw I'm only 18. Haha sorry for going off and bragging a little bit. I don't get to do that a lot, at my highschool they make fun of people like me and say there is no point being like me and how I use steriods, calling me a try hard and it pisses me off.

try hard.

Oh I have been wondering this for a while is my squat weak compared to my bench because I feel like it is but I was wondering what other people think

Nope. Pretty normal. If anything I'd say your bench is a little close to your squat and deadlift, but we all start training trying to get that bench up. There is no golden ratio, just keep trying to get better and improve your weaknesses.

Haha. I actually ment it the other way around sorry
