The Niacin Flush and Detoxification

Back on topic. This histimine response. If one is prone to allergies, of the food and the envirnomental neature, is the histimine response a bad thing? I'm thinking of ordering this but I need to know more about this flushing. I've never tried niacin before. I got a ****load of allergies.
 
To my knowledge no one with known allergies has reported anything negative with Poseidon use. My advice to you would be to start on a lower dose to gauge your response and work your way up if all is well.

I know many people with allergies that are taking Poseidon and/or Niacin with no problems. Everyone is different however, so I would (as suggested) start with a low dose to assess tolerance and then build from there. In my non professional opinion, I think you will be fine. ;)

Any concern with taking Poseidon with an anti-histamine such as Claratin?

I'm on several anti-histamines because I have very bad allergies and suffer from accute sinusitis (nasal congestion) because of it.

Very interested in trying Poseidon though....

what about the research that shows high amounts of niacin to be hard on the liver. I know 75mg isn't too too much...but once people start taking the 6 servings...it gets up there. It has been shown that the hepatotoxicity may not show itself for years also. Otherwise this seems like a great supplement to take often, although it does seem like many of the water soluble vitamins would end up being excreted at the very high levels. I have been taking it for a week now and besides the flushing, it has been pretty good.
 
The hepatoxicity has been reported with prescription sustained release Niacin products(SRNiacin). The blend mixed niacin with a waxy base to delay liver process and eliminating flushing action of immediate release niacin(our niacin). The liver stress in the studies I've read where reported in doses of around 1000mg or SRNiacin. The use of immediate release niacin(nicotinic acid... our niacin) has been used in studies of upwards of 3000-4000mg with no reports of any adverse sides expect for the exceptional flushes one would get from that high of a dose. Basically it gets in and gets out which puts no stress on the liver, making it more then safe to take in our reccomended dosage.
 
I am still using the Poseidon and am not experiencing too much of a flush at normal dosing. Maybe once a week I have seen teh tingle effect.
 
Do you take it on a completely empty stomach everyday? I notice that I don't usually flush with my mid-day doses, but pretty much everytime I take it on an empty stomach first thing in the morning before breakfast, I do.
 
So many variables come into play as to getting or not getting a flush. I can go a week or two with no flush, and then get one out of the blue. The only consistent I've seen is that the longer you take Poseidon, the less you will flush overall.

When we were testing this, I got a flush almost every dose to some degree. The bottom line is, if you get a flush, you needed it. :thumbsup:

Your right Rpen22, You will certainly have a greater chance of a flush taking Poseidon on a completely empty stomach. ;)

Apparently he developed a detox system which utilizes some niacin supplementation. Been hearing a little about it on the news, but I'm not that real familiar with it.
 
I've also noticed that the flush really depends a lot on whether you eat before hand or not. I think this stuff must be partially absorbed by the stomach because if I take it right after eating breakfast I can still feel a bit of a flush and I highly doubt anything has left my stomach by that time.

The only things that I know of that are absorbed across the stomach lining is alcohol and aspirin. Doubt if the ingredients in poseidon are getting in that way. Chalk it up to the efficient delivery of the product that gets it solubilized, liquified to get past the food and enter the duodenum for straight absorption.

That's an interesting observation though.
 
I've heard that water and caffeine can cross the stomach lining but I was trying to search for somewhere saying that and I actually found that flouride can cross the barrier :O

Other functions include absorbing water, some ions, and some lipid soluble compounds such as alcohol, aspirin, and caffeine."

So.. maybe niacin can ionize in the stomach and be absorbed but I have no idea :think:
 
I got a WICKED flush using Poseiden for the first time yesterday. Took 2 scoops about 3 hours my last meal before leaving work (as I was driving out). In about 5 mins I noticed my ears were BRIGHT red in the rear view mirror.

By the time I got to the gym about 15 mins later - had dark red spots everywhere. My arms were completely red - as was my face and neck.
Had an overall odd feeling - in addition to being hot.

Interesting product. I was uncomfortable though (I knew the flush effect was "good" though and that it was coming so I didn't freak).

I'm going to try it first thing in the AM as I found the crapping to really interfere with my workouts.

Jmho good to see you've jump on the Poseidon train, try cutting the dosage in half for your first couple of doses to build up a tolerance if the flushing bothers you. After a few times of taking Poseidon, the side greatly subsides.
 
I know this is an old thread, but I didn't want to start a new one with the same topic. So I got my Poseidon today and I took two scoops before I took off to the gym. I ended up having to do a couple of things around the house, and about 10 minutes after drinking it I got a HUGE niacin flush. I didn't panic at first because I remembered reading some about this, but my mom was like "your face is beat read."

So I came online and found this thread. So does the Niacin flush mean that my body has a lot of toxins, or that I don't have adequate blood flow?

Also, I was going to try and aim for 5-6 servings per/day to get the full benefits. Do you guys think I will be able to do that? Because this was a little scary to be honest...
 
This is what I notice.

I had the flush when I first started with the Poseidon. Then after a few weeks little to none and I was doing 6 servings per day.

BUT if I have a few beers or crap food, I get the flush again. For a day.

Yep..I notice that too Crowler.

The flush will disappear after about 2 weeks of steady use. During this time it gets less and less severe. The first few flushes are the worst and can really burn. If they are getting to be too much..take an aspirin about an hour before dosing.
 
alright...do you guys think I should still aim for 5-6 servings?
 
Upon reaching 6 servings per day..you will look like Workin without even having to work out or eat.

Well, everything is going very well for me. Today was my second day and I took one scoop this morning and got a mild flush. I don't know if it is just a placebo effect, but my complexion already is looking great. And after the flush my skin feels rejuvenated... I took 4 scoops today and only had 1 mild flush...by the way the flush feeling is kinda growing on me...

I know its just day 2, but I already feel great, sense of well being is great. You guys have really out done yourselves on this one. haha I have been like a walking Nimbus ad, telling everyone about Poseidon and how excited I am about it....my g/f finally told me to shut up..hahaha

Anyways thanks guys, and I will keep you updated.

Great to hear manifesto, and thanks for spreading the word. The flush does grow on you, and after a while(if your like me) you'll actually start missing it.:D

I have taken up to 2g's in one dose before bed with no ill effects. The flush goes away as your body adapts. Increase dosage slowly if need be.

I have only been using Poseidon for roughly a week. I didn't experience any sort of flush at first b/c I've typically been taking it soon after my morning shake/oats. However last Saturday I woke up after a pretty good night of drinking alcohol. I put one heaping scoop into a glass of water and guzzled it down in about 3 seconds. About 10 minutes later I started getting "the flush". Luckily I had read about it and knew what it was or I would have freaked like I was having an allergic reaction. I got all splotchy red and slightly itchy. It wasn't really painful though. I guess when you are dehydrated and full of toxins the Nicain flush can hit pretty hard on an empty stomach :)

Actually, it helped the hangover quite a bit. It seems to be good as both a preventative and a cure. Sorry, I didn't immediately see your question in this thread. I actually did start a thread "Poseidon vs Hangover" though. It was a hard fought battle between 2 tough heavyweights, but I bet you can guess the winner. ;)

Good read and holy **** I am in the middle of a major flush as I type this. It's freakin weird yet kinda cool. Much more intense than with beta-alanine for me. Feel like I am on crack and want to itch everywhere :D So far I am loving Blast!

It is kinda neat in it's on way. Sorta feels like a major heat wave running thru your body, with some little tingles. Makes walking out into the cold less annoying.:D
 
I've been hearing so much about this "niacin flush" that I bought some today, and took 200 mg of it on an empty stomach.
My face got hot, and my upper body got tingly, and itchy.
It was a cool experience. I like it.
 
comments -last few blood tests showed low HLD and high LDL but overall chol was good [174] I was thinking It was OK because I take rALA and its supposed to not let the LDL oxidize?But its a good idea to try and improve my numbers.I didnt realize you could get a buzz of straight niacin[cool ]:drunk:[is it safe ?and could it be taken with AMP?-start with 500 mg--I was checking out some cholesterol testing kits you can do at home for $150 might be worth it rather than get full blood work every few months

The buzz is probably just endorphin release in response to the flush thru psychological indications(It scares a lot of people the first time around). Personally, I've never got a buzz of of it and I've had plenty of "flushes". As for the stim stack and in regards to Poseidon, they go quite well together.

I did get a little buzz the first couple times i used poseidon. Also with the stims you may want to start a little lower on the dosing as i know when i stack poseidon with stims they get a little more kick in em.
 
This is not for me ,I took500mg on an empty stomach with some AMP and a pro shake.It was the fast acting and I hate it, worst work ive had in a long time [heart pounding ,red skin,itchy all over]The strange thing for me was ,a workout that usualy leaves me drenched with sweat ,after taking this I hardly sweat at all .
