The Irony of Atheism

The Middle Eastern culture was very progressive and leading the world in mathematical and scientific discovery...until Islamic Imams usurped that proud culture and infected it with their poison. They have not since recovered and they are the worse for their theocracy. And this is what Christians want in America? A move TOWARD theocracy? Not on my watch.

You have an extremely ethnocentric view of the world.

And I find many of the opposing viewpoints to be narrow minded.

Those misinformed often do.

Looking around the globe, I don't find too many Christian theocratic governments. Even the countries with the majority of Catholics have democratic socialist governments. But don't let the facts get in the way because classifying 2.18 billion people is extremely open minded. LOL

The Christians in this thread (and many others on this board) are very vocal about wanting more religious influence in government. That's all I've pointed out.

By the way, ever notice the similarities between dictatorships and Christianity? Food for thought.

Actually you've said "Christians". Thats 2.18 billion people in this world. If you value logic and reason, you are failing horribly at it.

Being an open minded Catholic, I don't think all atheists hate Christians based on what you have said.

Food for thought.

Dictators? You will probably find more dictators in the course of history before Christianity ever existed. Once again, don't let those facts get in the way.

That ethnocentric viewpoint is not serving you well.

The Middle Eastern culture was very progressive and leading the world in mathematical and scientific discovery...until Islamic Imams usurped that proud culture and infected it with their poison.

That progressive culture believed in thousands of gods, not just one. You should probably hate them 1000x more. LOL

Nobody believes in those gods anymore. If people just disbelieved in one more god, we'd all be atheists.

Brb, worshipping Tiamat, Enlil, Wotan, Allah, and Poseidon, etc.

One more god?

Brb...ignoring all polytheistic religions.

Come on, this is getting too easy. LOL

It's getting too easy discrediting religion. Feel free to keep picking the scab this thread's become though.

Its only become a scab because of the hate you proclaim to have for 2.18 billion people. Its sad really.

I don't think I can do anymore than what you do to yourself.

Ok, I promised to stay out...but just one question for the theists for the sake of debate

Have any of you ever done actual research into the translation concerns of the NT and the similarities that the Jesus story has with other dieties that predate Jesus by thousands of years?

BTW, actual research does not mean reading the NT. Sorry...wanted to clarify

Yes.

So everything started when I pointed out the hatred inherent in Phil Robertson's statements against homosexuals in another thread; a hatred whose only justification is based on his Christian religion. Let's not forget that.
This whole thread is a Christian response to the logic that I and others had used to point out the inconsistencies, lies, and errors in Christian faith. All faiths that believe in a god are just as fallacious if that helps you think I'm singling out one religion. It is the only religion that Phil Robertson believes in by the way.
The Christians in this thread scoff at logic and disguise their blind faith as profundity. They dismiss evolution and demonize Darwin's theory because they misunderstand what a theory is.
They cut and paste long screeds mocking atheism without an explanation to those posts. This entire thread can be perceived as mocking atheists, yet I and others are threatened with a forum ban for a perceived personal attack.
I will allow you to keep mocking atheists in this thread if it feeds your sense of Christian superiority. But rest assured, when hate speech like Phil Robertson's is glorified in threads, there will be a reaction. I haven't seen too many Christians decry Robertson's assertions that homosexuality leads to bestiality.

The only person that has be banned over all of this was the gay basher that kept registering over and over again...the one you kept reporting every time he posted.

So I find it quite "ironic" that you complain about the threat of being banned when the only person banned in those whole issue is the one you wanted banned.

So its not ok for someone to avoid explainning their faith and quotes but its ok for you to call someone a terrorist and moron.

Yeah, you would make a GREAT moderator.

If you don't like the way this forum is run, you simply can leave.

Wasnt I threatened with a ban for agreeing and liking someone else's post?

Maybe I misunderstood?

What about that did you not understand?

AE14 makes a comment about the tendency of christians to claim a moral superiority, said bad people exist in all religions and ends with claiming people are being hypocrits and are spewing nonsense - Invalid Link Removed

You respond stating that you were called an environmental terrorist and bring up a post in which you say "the OP was called a moron (and wanted to use that as a sig)" - Invalid Link Removed

AE14 highlight that he did say bad people exist in all walks - Invalid Link Removed

You decide to copy and past the post by PistonHonda calling touey a moron and also include the names of the individuals who liked the post - Invalid Link Removed

I was one of those who liked it so I question what the point was you were trying to make by copying the names ofpeople who liked the post I stated that I liked the post because I agreed with the comment - Invalid Link Removed

You state that the point was if you insult individuals based on their religion you will be banned - Invalid Link Removed

I try and explain that I am in fact not insulting him and clarify that I agreed that he was a moron because of other reasons. I go on to say I have zero problem with people who choose to religious and that my objection was to the denial of human rights - Invalid Link Removed

You say you dont care what the reason is (despite your previous post that sates directly that if the reason is based off religious beliefs) and that insults will result in a ban. This is entirely despite the fact this entire thread is an attack on those for their lack of beliefs or beliefs that do not conform to the majority.

This back and forth exchange left me with the feeling that if I contributed further to the thread I would have been banned. I never insulted touey nor called him a moron. however I did like a post that did hence the feeling that I might be banned because I liked a post.

Lastly, I dont believe I was alone in this feeling since in this post - Invalid Link Removed - AE14 who was another individual who liked PistonHondas post confused as to why him likeing a post would offend anyone and then apoligizing and stating he will no longer post in the thread

As I said, maybe I misunderstood. While you didn't directly say you will ban me for liking and agreeing with PistonHondas post, it is how I felt at the end of our exchange. Apparently I read into it too much and took your post the wrong way

I apologize for suggesting you threatened to ban me and for any comments that I made that were perceived as being offensive. My intention with my post in this thread (and the other 2 threads that lead to this thread) was to challenge the logic of others, it was not to challenge their faith, beliefs or to be insulting. I am sorry it was taken that way

When I was a boy two Catholics moved in next door to us. He a top M.D. and she a nurse. My mother and she got along unwell in the beginning over slight differences in world views.

As time passed they had children she left off working as a nurse to be home with the children and they moved around the corner, but in the same neighborhood.

The more my parents began to know them and they my parents there grew a friendship so close that when my grandmother was dying in the nursing home she visited my grandmother so often to prompt in askance of my mother by my grandmother why there was not a visit twice a day like she.- The way in which there may be a bringing forth of love and understanding, even best friendships when there is an accordance with Him is brilliant.

Its the reason I said "Here is my point"...then gave a pretty simple explanation.

If someone called you a bigot for your views, and I like it, you probably would get the impression that I approve of calling you a bigot....or you are a bigot.

I wouldn't call posts like that helpful to the debate and I find it quite humorous that people state they respect peoples views while calling them a moron or saying nothing when 2.18 billion people are classified as terrorists. You let that slide because the person making those statements is your side of the debate....and even worse, you agree with it then try to turn it around as this whole thread seriously insulted or offended you.

Wouldn't energies be better spent volunteering for an organization that attends to gay folks who have been mistreated? Or a rally of some sort? As opposed to getting in these heated academic online debates with strangers. Much more often than not, the debate merely polarizes the positions, rather than promoting understanding and more moderate (and IMO virtuous) positions.

Hate is hate.

I can't be your friend if you refuse to condemn a man whose view of homosexuals is that they are soon-to-be animal molesters.

"...even best friendships when there is an accordance with Him is brilliant" -- so your condition of friendship is that there must be a belief in God? That type of thinking is exactly what we're talking about: you MUST believe in God or else ______________

Not sure whether you have any gay friends, or how exposed you are to the gay community, but gay folks (gay and lesbian) generally disdain the term "homosexual," which is generally reserved for zealots, of the political and religious types. It is a rather reductive term.

Something to take stock of if you are going to campaign for their rights. :)

Now I see why Admin is frustrated. Hate mongering is hate mongering, whether directed at sexuality or religion.

I, too, am out.

I I have many gay friends friends and am at work with 2 right now. He says you are wrong in that assessment.

I'll be sure to check with my gay brother and his fiancee. Should have done that after they proposed at my house on Christmas. Wait, I mean winter solstice celebration

Man, foiled by the interwebs again! If it's on, it must be true. I'm obviously hanging out with the wrong, uninformed homo... .....er, gay people.

I know...its tough! If it wasn't for the interwebs, I never would have known I was a terrorist!!!!!

Because as you know, what a small group of homosexu...gays...whatever... think, must be true for all of them.

Sort of like those Christians....

to put limits upon God and which friendships are possible to others for us is an errant understanding of a simple story

Ok, I'll make one last comment. I used to work at a fine dining restaurant with a lot of gays. One in particular became a very good friend. I myself am straight, but my gay friends don't really care what I call them. Homo, queer, f*g (they actually like this one the least it seems, mostly because it's said in anger) fruit loops, pole squatter, cum farts, c0cksucker, whatever. If said in the right context they didn't give a sh!t. It's all in how you say it. Kinda like the n word lol.

Soooo.....why arent you out rallying then? Lead by example. Please, show us Christians how to live right since we are all so ignorant as so many of these posts infer or flat out state :)

Hate is hate.

Agreed so why all the unfiltered unabashed HATRED from you Atheists?

You don't see the same from Christians here. you simply see us defending our faith. It's not our fault you can't comprehend "faith".

Instead of foolishly demanding answers for things a human mind cannot possibly comprehend, you Atherists continue to implore us to explain/solve all the mysteries of the universe and of a God who is infinite. LOLOLOL butttttt "we" are the ignorant ones right? haha EPIC

How can you type that in clear conscience unless you are truly delusional?

Your legacy on this forum is scoffing, mocking, callous, abrasive, antagonizing, attacking, harassing, insulting, vile, venomous, crude and otherwise hateful posts throughout.

If anything else your anger and hate have certainly become very entertaining.

You fail miserably at being able to make an accurate distinction between" defense of our faith" (from all your very personlaized and sanctimonious attacks) and "mocking". All the while though, you have mocked us Christians repeatedly so fllippantly and cavalierly as if it's acceptable or something and it should roll off our backs. LOL Priceless

It's this sort of blind, priggish arrogance that lends you zero respect or credibility for that matter. You talk non-stop and cannot listen. That's why this is not a debate or even a discussion for that matter. It's become nothing more than a platform for you to spew your venemous hate-filled diatribe of meaninglless GOOOO. However, you're used to GOOOO; afterall, that's where you Attheists claim we all evolved from LOLOL Truly hysterical.
