Think mango caramel cheesecake...except that the "cheese" layer is made using a variety of yogurt called quark. Very moist, soft and they included at the very bottom a layer of chocolate with something like rice crispies inside. Between the chocolate and cake layer there was raspberry jam.

I bought quark from an int'l foods store near me (a lot of Euro foods there)...May need to get some and make a poor man's version lol

I've bough plain quark a few times. For those who've never had it, think greek yogurt but replace the tang in GY by a mild cheesy flavor.

You should be able to find a fair number of recipes for this item because it is quite popular here.

They sell quark at a good bit of the grocery stores by you. I ate it almost daily while I was up there. Believe it was loblaws where I got it most often

Top Left: Charred Shrimp
with salsa verde, toasted pepitas, charred pineapple

Top Right:
Salt & pepper tiger shrimp
with grilled cauliflower steak, brown butter salpicón of golden raisin, sunflower, arugula, olives, fresh cheese, salsa cacahuaté

Bottom Left:
chirashi sushi [scattered sushi bowl]
tuna sashimi, cured salmon, grilled shrimp, wasabi caviar, summer vegetables, warm rice, smoky ponzu

Bottom Right:
pan roasted tomahawk pork steak (all natural)
with grilled zucchini, crispy bacon buttermilk, old bay-caramelized fennel

Update on white girl junky snacks

Tried the caramel apple and pumpkin spice hostess cakes, pumpkin spice twinkies and little debbie pumpkin rolls.

Pumpkin twinkies: basic twinkie cake with pumpkin flav creme. The creme didn't have a strong flavor at all. 3/10 pass!

Apple hostess: great 8/10
Pumpkin hostess: got better with each one i ate: 7.5/10

Pumpkin rolls: packed with creme and sweetness which is usually great but very artificial tasting - gut killa 6/10

I'd rate the rolls a bit higher, but there is definitely something word in them cuz they so it very heavy in my stomach

Yeah taste is like 7-7.5 but list points for the after feels.

Caramel Apple Cupcakes from Hostess

These were pretty decent. The caramel apple flavored cakes are pretty lackluster, but give you a decent aftertaste. The creamy filling is good, but not strong enough to provide the full flavor of the cake itself. The cake needs to be re-done and stronger in flavor.

Hostess Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes:

These were solid. Good pumpkin outer cupcake, and the vanilla cream filling is on point. You get hints of nutmeg and cinnamon, but not strong enough to please a true pumpkin fan. The puree of the pumpkin in the cupcake could be stronger, but then again this is a generic hostess cupcake. We cannot expect it to be epic like a bakery. If you are a pumpkin fan, definitely worth a shot. The cupcake was softer then the caramel apple which was also a bonus.

Salt and straw pb and j with pb cereal......not tons of pb cereal but dont care one bit........these pics dont even do it justice, in all honesty it got even better.

The PB and and jelly were everywhere and dripping like not even partially frozen i have no idea how they did it........easy 10/10

One of my favorite classic pastries. This one had the thin crispy dough that I like (honestly even thinner is best), a thick layer of ricotta like vanilla cream, and the classical sugary top glaze.

Refeed breakfast hash browns loaded with cheese , bacon, and chorizo, topped with eggs
Cinnamon roll pancake, and an extra side of bacon... Breakfast heaven

if not there is a place called that not far from Denver Biscuit Company that had a line around the door the entire weekend.
 
I'm in Houston but they have a couple locations... It was almost a 2 hour wait

Ricotta Juniper Berry Tart:

Ricotta base was reminiscent of a silky smooth cheesecake; good balance of sweet + cream flavor components. Berries were juicy and mildly tart. Dough layer was thin, moist, and brown sugar cookie like. On point.

The Smoke Mtn is on my hit list for tomorrow when I go to Buffalo, may also split the grilled cheese stuffed crust with mkretz
