The epic food porn thread

The Swedish Fish Oreo is one that shouldn't have been sampled. If that one was, I think any flavor would be.

Not opposed to that flavor if they did it better...

Salt & Straw Wildflower Honey w/ Ricotta Walnut Lace Cookies

Oregon extracted bee honey laced into fantastic vanilla ricotta ice cream packs a dense amount of flavor in each spoonful. The cookies were decadent and gave this a perfect compliment. For being frozen into an ice cream the quality of the cookies tasted like they were still fresh from a bakery. For a flavor I did not order I came away a happy camper. If you love sweet and salty combinations this is a pint you will want to look for as a future limited edition flavor.

I actually think these are stellar.

In the freezer brings or the Swedish fish flavor way more.

Dunkin Donut's Caramel Apple Croissant Donut

Invalid Link Removed

The Caramel Apple Donut contains a typical glazed donut top, but with a dense flaky pastry helps enhance the overall experience. The caramel glaze provides a sweet kick, and nice compliment to the doughy and buttery croissant. The real winner is the apple filling inside the croissant. The filling has a cinnamon aftertaste, but a rich apple pie flavoring. I really liked this one over the snickerdoodle I had in the past. If DD can provide a solid glaze and filling in their upcoming limited edition baked goods, they will be worth a try even from a local chain.

Grade: B+

I have tried the blueberry and lemon croissant donuts and liked them both. The rest of DD line-up is meh IMO.

Tim Hortons actually has a tasty donut now - Apple Pie fritter (apple filling with a crumb topping)

Japonaise:

Invalid Link Removed

Cube of thick almond meringue that has the consistency of a rich fudge separated by layers or traditional dry crunchy meringue. Very very rich. Similar to eating PB out a jar type richness, although the crumbled almonds on the outside add change of texture and tone down sweetness.

That would be sick...any plans to be in the area? Would be nice to chill a bit more this time

Have a meeting next Monday to define the next phase of the project. I'm gonna try to work out at least one more trip up that way. Might not be til October or so tho

We posting food we eating in here anymore?

I had the maple buns.....I love maple and I would rather have regular honey buns...just not enough glaze or maple flavor to cover up the dryness

Schwedentorte:

Classical Swiss cake. Moist white cake with good crumb. Thick layer of vanilla custard in the middle, then a thinner one of whipped cream. Topped with a soft caramel like chewy layer of marzipan.

Marzipan is not strong in taste but it adds a welcome sweetness and chew. Can recommend.

Carrot Cake Tart:

Take a soft brown sugar cookie type tart and fill it with carrot cake...literally...carrot cake; but a really dense carrot cake that is full of nuts. Top with marzipan carrot and powdered sugar. Boom!

Wood buy again.

Pebble crust was boooommmmbbb. Overall a very unique item. Basically chicken on a stick (Asian sauce too) dipped, fried; tasted like a slightly sweet funnel cake on top of chicken. 8/10 more for uniqueness flavor was good not insanely great tho.

Spicy pulled pork sandwich and some taco salads (ribeye and chicken) with cucumber kimchi.

Sammy was good, but not hot enough considering it was fresh (temp, not spice). Tacos were just meh.

Apfelkuchen:

Dense rich dough, sweet caramelized apples and a dash of powdered sugar for the 'betis. Loved the textures and flavors on it...had that "homemade" feel.

Apricot Kuchen:

Invalid Link Removed

Thin and crispy bottom layer deep in "toasted" flavor. It fades into a softer dense raw cookie dough type consistency. Tart but sufficiently sweet apricots that are have been dehydrated from cooking and are almost at the point of being marmalade type consistency/density of flavor.

Good chit mayne.

^^^ that looks like pizza lol....I like my sweets to look like real food like vegans name their food after the names of different types of meat.

Practicing on some generic eats before I can get some legit Chi-town pizza...

Salt & Straw Cinnatopia:

Legit chunks of cinnamon roll's, a luscious cream cheese swirl, and one of the best ice cream bases found for a cinnamon roll flavor. This is the easiest way to dictate Salt and Straw Cinnatopia. If you ask me this takes the cake over Ben & Jerry's Cinnamon Buns with ease. If they made this flavor a permanent flavor it would sell like hotcakes. The combination of cinnamon roll elements, the fresh dough of a baked good, and the glaze of cream cheese binds well to make one of Salt & Straw's best offerings.
