test level 1400 ???

My endo called, and said after a month on testim my levels are a little over 1400!! This is at 1 tube per day! I'm still not feeling anything on it, but he never checked my free testosterone. he wants me to stop the testosterone altogether. what should I do?? :-\
 
tell him to retest you as well as check free testosterone and e2, and if he's totally kooky about it, go to half a tube a day.

Another possibility as well is that if you applied any near the injection site, some could have gotten picked up by the needle leading to an anomalous result.
 
I have been about 20% hornier lately, but if my levels are 1400 I would think I'd be a walking erection? I'm still just as strong in the gym, no real difference. He said my LH is now 7.5 (it was 17.2 before the Testim). Plus no nipple sensitivity even though my levels are that high? Should I stop and let my levels lower to see how that makes me feel? I felt the horniest about mid month on Testim.
 
testosterone alone doesn't define libido, the interplay of all the hormones does... so it may be that with total testosterone that high estrogen is now too high too, lowering it.

Best bet I think is to retest first, or at the least drop to half a tube a day.

Lab was contaminated it will never go that high on one tube. You probably had some of the gel at the site of the blood draw causing false elevation. I see it all the time. You tell the Dr you want a retest and do not stop the gel till a retest or 24 hour urine is confirmed. e2 and DHT also need to be ran.

If dht is low then I would go with gels first, they are not bad as long as there are no kids involved and cross contaminations. Your Dr needs to properly monitor blood labs and make adjustments accordingly. I know endo put people on gels 5 grams for 3 months they come back levels 1/2 of what they where when they started. With in this 2-3 months period some people got to the point they could not work, relationships where falling apart due to something they had no control over. This is why I suggest to Dr's 10 grams of gel right out the gate of androgel 4 pumps 1.62% measure it 2-3 hours after application 7-10 days after starting along with the proper parameters (e2, shbg, bio T, TT, DHT, LH). I always notify them to make sure their patients do not apply the gel near the elbow for possiblity of increased false blood reading of testosterone which will cause endos to make bad decisions.

I'll be going back to the endo on Friday to discuss a few things. If he doesn't want to give me the correct blood tests, I made another appointment with my family doctor who will definitely run the tests for me. I'm not going to use the gel that morning just to be sure there is no contamination. Can you give me an exact list of everything I should ask for in the blood test? When I talked to my endo's nurse over the phone, she was a real smart ass, and said the endo was a very well educated man and if there were any other tests that needed to be conducted he would have ordered them. She also told me to go to another doctor if I'm not satisfied.

YOu have to apply the gel weight 2 -3 hours then go get the blood test. Just make sure you keep it up around your upper shoulder not no lower then half way down the bicep. Make another simple suggestion. Apply it on the opposite arm which you give blood - problem solved !!
All I can say is I am glad I went through all this crap years ago so you guys do not have to go through months of hell when you do not have too. There should have been more indept blood work done in the beginning, but most endos will not take the time to do it. They want to nickle and dime your insurance for all its worth in majority of cases. This is why Dr's and enjoy collaborate together with me since I know all the loop holes and how to circumvent them. BTW if any medical professionals questions my credibility. I will gladly provide them a list of MD, DO and ND's who willing be right a letter of recommendation or give me a good reference.

For follow up HRT for Dr's I recommend going to Quest diagnostics (make sure covered by insurance).
