tattoos and bodybuilding

Do tattoos effect someone when they are judged at bodybuilding shows? I know Lee Priest has a bunch but do you think he looses anythign from it or does the "tan in a can" cover them well enough. Thanks.

I would bet that if a judge has a dislike for them it could alter some results if you're an unknown. I think the answer could be yes and no :P

I hope that clears it up. haha

I've always wondered that myself. I have a few tats...yet can't help but favor the BB'ers without ink. I think it blows the symmetry in my mind.

From the judges I know (also competitors), they DO generally hurt your scores b/c there is "usually" a loss of visible definition as a result of the tatoo and its a distraction.

I think tats disturb the flow of the lines.

They can even create the appearance of a-symmetry in the physique.

Plus it would be kind of like tagging a crude *mom* across the hood of an enzo… still a lean machine.. but defaced none the less.

That said… I create tat designs… let me know if you need one…lol

You might be able to use tatoos to your advantage... placement can cause odd looking definition that would make judges gape ;)

Depending on where there at I think they can go against you. I think leg tats aren't a huge deal but ones that go all over your shoulder can be very distracting.

What about your upper back

I'd think that would also be distracting, taking the judges eyes away from your natural lines and onto the tat...

It just depends on the tattoo, if they're like Lee Priest's and you start reminding the judges of Mike Tyson then you might get an unfavorable score LOL
