tatoos overated?

I would recommend passing on the whole tattoo thing. For instance, the things that were important to me at age 20,
(which in retrospect really weren't important at all), are not the least bit important at age forty. Of course, that is assuming that you actually grow up as you get older. Some never do. Just look at all the 40-50 year olds with with raggidy tats and mullets! Fortunately I made it thru my teens and twenties without acting on the urge to get that tasmanian devil tattoo on my shoulder.:head: At some point I think prolly everyone who has ink regrets that they have it, but I doubt seroiusly that people without ink regret that they "never got that tatoo". Just my thoughts.

The majority of people Ive talked to with tattoos, told me they regretted getting them. So, yes I think they are over rated. This is a fad that is probably on the way out. It is a fascinating phenomena though.

Every time one of my buddies comes up to me and says: Dude check out this awesome new tattoo I got!!!! I know its going to be overrated.

My mom is around 60 and got her first and second tattoo last year.

Takes different sorts eh?

Do not get a tattoo. What if you rape someone and they see your ink? You're screwed. Same if you have have conflict with a gangbanger. His buddies that have never seen you could more easily identify you and come after you with a gun.

hahahaha ive heard stuff like this before

It is a personal thing. If you think tattoos are over rated then don't get one! If you think they are not over rated then get one. Easy.

Like Joey said earlier. It is art...art can't be over rated!

There was this white guy called Willy once who decided to get his name tattood across the top of his cock. He went to a tattoo parlour, and they stretched out his foreskin and began to tattoo "WILLY" across it. He was very pleased with it.

One day this guy is at a bar/club... too many beers, decides to go toilet to take a piss. He's standing there at the urinal, **** flacid... pissing away as you do. A big black guy comes and stands next to him in the adjacent urinal. He notices the black guy in an intimidating way kinda looking over... freaking him out. The black guy leans over and looks at his flacid cock with the foreskin all scrunched up... makes out the "W___Y"... and says, "Ah, you've got the same tatoo like me!"

The white guy is all freaked out thinking as if this other guy has the same name tatooed across his cock. The black guy then flops himself out, the "W" and "Y" visible... then stretches his foreskin ouy and the white guy reads: "WELCOME TO THE JAMAICAN CLUB EVERYBODY".

Overrated - Anything that is given too much credit and hype

It's impossible for something like a tattoo to be "over rated".

Something like an Ipod could be over rated. I love mine but some might think that it is not as good as it is hyped up to be.

A tattoo is a completely personal thing. If you are getting a tattoo for anybody else but yourself then you shouldn't be getting one anyway.

Even if tattoos are over rated,if you like them, that's all the matters. End of discussion.

i think they are more of a "fad" then anything else. I will be gettin one this summer but only after thinking about it for years. I think what makes them a fad or somewhat overrated is that many ppl go get tattoos off of a whim. Their tats mean nothing, their name, or some other dum sh!t that they got only to show off to others,....tramp stamps anyone? Show me a guy with a military tat that really means something deep to him,... i doubt he will regret it later in life. Now show me someone else that finds out their friend got one, and then all the sudden they now want one to "show" off,...... that would be the person to probably regret it later in life. Point is,... you want one,... be sure it means something,... take a WHILE to consider it, and the fact YOU are the one who wants it, and make sure its not a simple phase you'll get out of out of years after gettin it.

Yeah, be sure it means something to you.

I saw a guy the other day with "Motley Crue" tattooed on his forearm. I told him they rocked and he looked at me and goes, "Yeah 25 years ago! I wish I had never gotten that damn thing! I love the band, I just wish their name wasn't on my arm."

That is a good example of someone who didn't think it through lol.

Haha,very good example.

yea but i just feel like everyone has one so it's what everyones doing

If the tatoo means something to you then it doesn't matter imo some people get trendy tatoos which is more liek what everyone is doing. I have many tatoos but they all mean something very personal to me. my moms name, rip for my nephew who was murdered, my animal year etc. All my tatoos are custom are not one was picked from a book or flash so I don't feel they are trendy at all. If you really want one get one for yourself one that you'll want forever though
