Swanson's Penultimate 5/3/1 Powerlifting Log...for real

I gotta train with you this Summer if I get my numbers up Swanson

2 mile vested walk w/30#. Didn't time it today, just walked my usual 2 mile route.

Nothing special.

Don't sell yourself short big man. It's more special than a zero mile walk with no weight. You're too hard on yourself.

Oh no, I meant nothing special in terms of an update.

We got mf'ers setting PRs all over our little PL group, and my update is vest walking. :biglaugh:

Vest walking > nursing a shoulder/deloading. You walk proud! lol.

Today's the day I'll get called out for no video. :biglaugh:

Had to be in Lincoln to run errands, so I trained at a nice little gym that has the EliteFTS comp bench w/band pegs. I tore that place up.

BENCH

Just wanted lockout tension. Felt good on the shoulder.

315x8 that might be a rep PR

365x1 full 2" pause. Easy.
405x4 comp pause, w/slingshot.

Between each set, DB ROW 100x5

Not feeling this at all.

INCLINE DB PRESS

SS W/MEADOWS ROWS
150x6x3

Pulldowns, band over/back.

Done and fired up. I'm tryin to keep up with Herder!

I don't think so, no. It's more a tool for overload than helping form.

Took me YEARS to get form comfortable, and even now I'm still not 100% confident in my form.

I'm sure that gives you warm fuzzies. ;)

Thanks gents. That rowing between sets revelation has changed my pressing experience significantly.

Epiphany.

Whoa! Catch me? You passed me up again in a big old hurry. Don't stop now, dude!

Boggles my mind to see people press 455+, raw. How do you get THERE?

I'm still excited about yesterday; I want to go train again.

I know my diet talk befuddled and bores all, but here's what's happening;

I'm at a consistent 2800kcal on training days, 2500 on non with the difference coming via carbs around my sessions. Keeping pro ~300, fats 100-120.

I'm getting stronger, remarkably so in some areas. Some of that is learning a movement, but some is just strength.

Now...in a week, with no cheats, just this diet, weight has not budged. I'm recovering, I'm conditioning, yet no weight gain/loss.

I'm on the perfect recomp, ****ers. Has to be. Water doesn't come or go, and all of my sessions are improving.

Dave, you've gotta agree, no?

Just a thought, but I'm happy with it!

Timothy, don't overthink this shyt as you're prone to do, just go w it.

It'll all fall into place...

I got the Timothy...that means you're serious...at least from my experience with people calling me Timothy.

Just eat & train. Eat & train.

Thanks guys!

Took today as a rest day. Talked to the PL coach, and I'll need to switch back to a lift per day vs what I'm doing now. Monday OHP, Tuesday Squat, Thursday bench, Saturday deadlift.

I'll stick w/ 5/3/1 until I'm good enough to use their programming. That is all.

Who uses a camera to film their attempts? My mommy wants to buy us a vid camera, and I'm wondering what people use.

I use my iPhone because I don't want to buy a camera.

My galaxy note 2 I think it does ok

See I use my iPhone too, but I hate listening to the crap going on in the gym. I want to be able to keep the music going for big attempts...hell that's 99% of the reason I haven't been posting vids.

Nice thing is my mother in law wants to buy it. She wants video of the kids, but I'm hijacking it to film training. :D

Why if you get an iPod to listen to instead?

Dunno crap about cameras...get a cool mini stand for it tooI know one guy that does that.

Buy a cheap MP3 player that you can throw 100 of your favorite songs on. Listen to that when you gota film. That's what I do when I used my I phone to film.

I'm not buying anything; the MIL is buying a camera that I intend to use extensively. Just wondering if anyone had one they loved.

I'm thinking the Canon 60D, as it has wireless capability and I can upload straight to YouTube from it apparently.

If it's not your money have fun. I'm happy with a phone and a 10 dollar MP3 player. My luck the couple hundred $ camera would get broken or stolen etc.

I have a $300 budget, so she's pretty generous.

The last nice camera we had got dropped on the tile by my perpetually drunk BIL.

Still waiting on that to be replaced.

I was looking at that one myself to take with us to the Philippines in April.
Might get that one or the one a step up...

Seems like a nice camera. I'm dropping by Best Buy today to look at one.

What about a digi camera that else shoots video, like a flat square lookin one?

I can't seem to find a wireless one. That type was my first thought though.

I got my gf a camera.... Like 100 bucks on Black Friday normal retail 250. It's pretty decent if you are trying to save some $/ not blow a ton. It's the one that some of my meet vids were filmed with if you have seen/wana look at them.

Otherwise cannon does have some high quality stuff.
